OMS I here making myself available for questions. I love ya'll excitement and it makes me remember how excited I was this time last year. good luck everyone!
How's the school experience been so far?

I saw somewhere online campus is only open for standard business hours? Is this true?

the first day of orientation is surreal, where you still can't believe that you got a seat there. Afterwards, the excitement quickly dies off as you quickly realize how fast-pace everything is. For the first trimester, you will have two months of foundational classes (pharm, biochem, immuno, path, genetics, microbio, etc...) and after that you move into the systems. Immuno-heme-lymph is the first system and we're currently studying for the finals for this module. there will be other classes other than the core sciences, such as physicianship, where you learn to take history and physical exam and stuff, and HSS, which is teaching biostatistics right now, and OMM lectures. The lab consists of physicianship, OMM, and anatomy. Labs and its associated lectures are mandatory attendance but for core sciences you have the option of attending via Zoom or watch the recording at a later time. There's a test on the core sciences or systems every two week on Monday, and a midterm and a final. All in all, I spend about 5-7 hours per week attending mandatory stuff on campus but for the rest of the time I self study at home. Most students prefer to study in groups so they would book a study room with their friends and study on campus. There's only one building so you will run into the same people all the time.

They usually extend building hours for final tests of modules, testing week, and OMM practicals.

Extended Building Hours

• Mon-Thur 7:00am-11:00pm

• Friday 7:00am-11:00pm

• Saturday 9:00am-11:00pm

• Sunday 9:00am-11:00pm

does anyone have more details about the interview like the style of interview or type of questions asked ?
Hey I have an interview coming up. How did your interview go? Do you mind sharing what kind of questions are asked and how does the group activity looks like?

Hey everyone! I have an interview this Friday from 12pm to 3pm. On the confirmation and reminder email, it said interview day from 10am to 3pm. Are we supposed to show up online at 10 or the scheduled time we signed up for?

wow this interview was great. good luck to everyone else applying!!! amazing vibes from all the faculty and interview was very relaxed and calm. expect a couple chill ethics questions and typical why med/DO/tell me about yourself.

Today I got a
“Thank you for your continued interest in KansasHealth Science University - Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KHSU-KansasCOM). We wanted to provide an update on the status of your application.

Our admissions team is diligently working through a large number of applications to ensure each one receives the thorough review it deserves. As we review applications in the order they were received, there may be some additional time before a decision on next steps is reached.”

Ig at least it’s not a rejection. I submitted beginning of September.

If it makes you feel any better, I got an email like this back in August and recently received an interview invite. So, when they say they’re still reviewing I think they genuinely mean that. Hopefully your interview invite will be coming soon!

I just interviewed today and everyone was so nice. The interview was not super stressful and they provided a lot of information about the school which i thought was very interesting

OOS II received today.

Going to be withdrawing. Hope it is given to one of you!

Hi Lysmonds, have you heard back from Kansas as to any acceptance since your interview?

Unfortunately no, I did send a thank you letter to the admissions committee, and they replied saying thank you for the kind message. But other than that, I haven't heard anything

Hi, are there any current students that can help me answer a few questions?

1. How do you like the professors and the pre-clinical curriculum?
2. How long is the dedicated period for STEP 1/ COMLEX 1?
3. How often is OMM?
4. Why did you choose to go to KansasCOM over other schools?
5. If there are any 3rd year students, how are the quality of rotations?
6. How is having virtual anatomy lab instead of a cadaver lab?

probably my nerves speaking but anyone who also recently-ish interviewed get this email:
“Thank you for taking the time to interview with us at KansasCOM! We know this is an exciting, and sometimes overwhelming, time as you consider your future in medical school. To help you gain a deeper understanding of our community and the KansasCOM experience, we’d like to invite you to join a Zoom call with some of our current students.”

I got this same email this morning. I'm sure that it is automated like bratautumn66 mentioned. I think it is just something they send for everyone to kinda give us something to do while we wait on decisions.
