what does the hold language look like?
We have reviewed your application. Due to the high volume of submissions, we are putting your application on hold for a final interview decision. Your application is still under consideration, and no further information is needed from you at this time. We will notify you once a final decision is made.

Thank you for your patience during this busy admissions cycle.

Current M1 here and I didn't receive an II invite until mid-November. For those waiting in limbo or on a pre-II hold: interview szn has just begun, so definitely hold out hope!
do u rem when u submitted?

Just rechecked my dates and I actually submitted my secondary on 8/27/23. Definitely later than I initially thought lol, but there seemed to be a general trend last year where the first IIs went out to the high-stat applicants, then eventually to mid and low-stats. I had an LM score of 70. I unfortunately can not speak to pre-II holds personally or from peer anecdotes, but if I had to guess, it's not necessarily a bad thing since they didn't formally give you the R?

anyone know anything about changing top choice campus post-interview?

also: any current students that did this that could dm?

Dear everyone here, I had my interviews this week and just wanted to relay this tidbit of information in case your interviewers don’t: if you interview and love Mayo, please please please send them a letter of intent / interest. It’s extremely important to them.
To add to this, in my session earlier this week they made a point that they view letters of intent and letters of interest pretty much equal in the first round of acceptances, but not equally if you’re on the waitlist.

Did they say anything about update letters?

MSAR says that Mayo interviews 41% of MN applicants, and only accepts about 14% of those. Seems like a huge IS bias for interviews, but no bias for post-II acceptance.

Curious if anyone else can weight in on this

They will reach out and specifically request to know your interest level around December, but you can submit before that if you want!
So maybe we should send one (update + intent) right after the interview and then wait for them to reach back out in December?

Well, that depends on when your interview is! Mine was earlier this month and I personally believe September is too early for a LOI.

I’m probably going to submit mine the end of October! They said in the info session they have no issue with you waiting until several other interviews have occurred to send in your LOI, as they want it to be genuine and an informed decision.

So the interviews are partially blinded. Do we know which part is blinded?

Is too late to finish the secondary for Mayo? Figured I had no chance so I didn't finish it originally.

I have a friend who completed their secondary in late september a few years ago and was admitted

For people who interviewed, did you send thank you letters to interviewers directly via email or upload them to the portal? Both my interviewers gave me their emails but I also see a spot for thank you notes in the portal so I'm not sure which is appropriate. Did they specify anywhere?

They want it in the portal so that it can be taken into consideration!

Is this just a Mayo thing or do other schools want thank you notes in-portal that we should watch out for? I've been sending thank you's but just via email. TIA
Schools will usually specify at the end of the interview or in the post-interview email! Georgetown requested by portal, Michigan wanted email, Emory refused thank you notes entirely.
