2024-2025 Mayo Clinic - Minnesota

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those who interviewed, was it really just 30 straight minutes of behavioral questions (e.g., "Tell me about a time...")? No "tell me about yourself," no "why medicine," no nothing??? 😭😭

Also, did either of your interviewers ever ask the same questions, or were the Q's different each time?

for my first one yea basically (I did so bad haha). my second had the guided questions as well tbh for like 25 min and then 5 min of more conversational

yea there was at least 1 overlapping question.

Agreed—one interviewer was pretty conversational, the other was very structured and guided and didn’t ask Why Medicine or Why Mayo!

Wait sorry one more question: do you have to keep your camera on the entire Welcome Session? Bc if yes & the session goes past 2pm CST (iirc, they said it'll last 3 hrs, starting 11am CST), then I gotta email some professors ASAP

Same here. My first interviewer just grilled me on behavioral questions for 30 minutes straight with no conversation. The second one was much more conversational. No overlapping questions for me.

Mine ended quarter to 2. They’re quite respectful of interviewees’ time it seems.

+ OOS Pre-II R. Complete 8/1. Very low stats for this school so expected, but they could have ripped the bandaid off on this a while ago...
+1 I feel you buddy. I was complete around the same time and dodged so many rejection and hold waves. I was getting so hopeful🙁 They really could have ripped off the bandaid for the late july/early august people much earlier

In the same situation with case western currently with a mid July submission... still surviving waves, but fear my day will come soon... best of luck on your journey my friend, this is rough ):

can't send all the links but i just searched "mayo clinic hold" in /premed, there's lots of threads from 7 years ago up until today. not that much info! just some crowdsourced haphazard guesses/personal anecdotes, but as always reporter bias, not representative, etc etc. the few replies say it's akin to a soft R..but not to lose hope! (always have hope!!) can't be of more help unfortunately, that's all i got (as an INTL student too lmao)

Tonkad5 - I believe, from reading this thread and the thread from last cycle, that everyone receives the email once their interview has been scored.

I had my interviews this week and neither felt like a stress interview! Both did ask behavioral questions with some being difficult, but beyond that they asked specific questions about my application and follow ups, were very attentive and friendly!

is interview hold for mayo basically like a soft rejection?

+1 OOS highly ranked email received!! I am beyond grateful to have gotten this email (I almost messed up my 3-hour Immunofluorescence experiment when I read the email lol)
Congrats!! Do we know if they send highly ranked emails to everyone at the same time?

alehernan017 - Congrats! Did you interview for MN 4-year or a 2 and 2 program? Also, when did you interview?

Would anyone mind answering some general questions about the interview? Got mine tomorrow and I’m kinda nervous.
Feel free to DM me. I had mine today and they were so. good. Both interviewers asked behavioral/structural questions, but they made it very conversational. One interviewer even started out saying I should just relax. I think Mayo has been my favorite interview of the season thus far!
