There aren't any traditional supplemental essay questions (at least for in-state applicants)! They have two questionnaires that require a few signatures.

If there are any supplemental questions for OOS students, can someone send those, please?

Just got secondary OOS. I am a bit confused though, the email includes instructions for scheduling faculty interviews? Do all applicants who get a secondary also do interviews?

there aren't any, it's just checking a bunch of boxes, but there is an option to submit a letter explaining your ties to arkansas

speaking of, does anyone know how this letter should be formatted? thx

No idea but I got the same email

all Arkansas residents get an interview, OOS interview are invite only

they probably just left that part in for in state people

I’m OOS and also got an interview invite along with my secondary today. But I’m a TX resident- do they offer that same situation to us?

This is also a fairly new policy for U Arkansas with respect to applicants from states that border Arkansas:
“Starting FY23-24, tuition will be charged at the in-state rate for College of Medicine for the following border states: Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. This will increase our ability to attract high caliber students from bordering states which will enrich the program, elevate our rankings, and increase the likelihood that we are attracting students who will stay in the area.”

Is UAMS gradually giving out secondaries, particularly for OOS and MD/PhD folks? Yet to receive one

Just to confirm, are all in state applicants (with a 500 MCAT and above) guaranteed an interview still? Or is it on a person by person basis now?

The wording on the applicant guide that wysdoc sent is a bit ambiguous but i'm 99% sure everyone that meets the MCAT threshold gets an interview

OOS and received an invitation to secondary and interview earlier today! Primary was verified on 8/16.

I’m OOS and was verified 6/30, got an email today saying they received my application. Did anyone else get one this late
after being verified?

What are my chances as an OOS after the interview? I’m from a border state but I don’t have any ties.

how are you guys writing the letter for ties to the state? I'm not sure if I just list them out or explain personal reasons why I like Arkansas as well

For this year, do all OOS applicants with a 505+ get a secondary/Interview? Or is that just the minimum requirement to be invited

I had a 505+ and didn’t get either so i am assuming it’s just the minimum😅

I interviewed at UAMS yesterday! Everyone was super friendly, feel free to ask me any questions yall have!

what were the interviews structured like? Was it more formal or conversational?
Both were fairly conversational! My first interviewer had a list of questions and asked me questions directly from the list but we had a conversation after each question. My second interviewer had some hypothetical situations ready to go, but she didn’t have a list of questions. Each interview was 1 on 1 and lasted ~30 mins.

This was my first interview so I didn’t really have anything to compare it to, but after talking to others that were interviewing, I think the interviews at UAMS are pretty chill and friendly.

Thank you! Did they mention when people who interview around October should expect to hear back? Now that the process is rolling admission

I interviewed in September and they said they'll likely send out a handful of early offers in November/ December but most people will hear back in February. They also said you have 2 weeks to make a decision after you get an acceptance (at least for the early offers I believe)

We shouldn’t expect anything from this school today right? I remember hearing that the first time the admissions team is meeting to make decisions is October 30th. Anybody heard updated info since then?

Does anyone know how the rolling admissions they are doing this year is different from last year's admissions timeline? I have heard that in the past, they have sent out some early offers in December and January, with most people hearing back in February. How is it different this year? Is it just that some people will be hearing back starting in November instead of December?

I heard they are meeting on October 31. I wonder how many applications they will review on that day.

That’s what I’ve heard. Idk about how many offers or what II dates are eligible

IS, interviewed this past Friday. I talked to Tom South, the director of admissions, afterwards. He said that they will meet October 30th to start reviewing completed applications, and the first wave of acceptances will come out in the first or second week of November. He said they aren't sure how many exactly will be accepted in the first wave, but that it should be slightly more than the amount they have taken in December of previous years. So maybe around 30 will be accepted? He said there will be a second wave of acceptances around Thanksgiving, followed by a third wave of acceptances early January, and then everyone will know by the end of February.

Thanks for the information! Did he mention in what order they review the completed applications? Like will they only review applications of people who interviewed on the first interview date (when they meet for the first time on October 30 to review applications), or do they organize it a different way?

You’re welcome! I am under the impression that files are only marked “complete” after interviewing, and they will review all complete applications. So that would include the cohort of interviewees in late September, and then the interviewees from this past Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. There will be another interview date in a couple of weeks, so I imagine those applicants will be considered for the second wave of acceptances in late November.

Does anyone know if they will be accepting more OOS people than previous years since they changed their admissions process for this year?
