They interview around 16 applicants a week. Guessing the time they started interviewing late summer...with only around 8 applicants. So...I'd say they have interview 200 applicants maybe less. They have offered 100 spots. And in an earlier post only 16 deposits have been made. 150 total students for next year...I would say there is space left. From what I have seen with most schools...they offer at least double of what matriculate.
 
Thanks! So they give acceptance offers to about half of those interviewed. Are all the others automatically put on a waitlist, or can they still also get rejected after an interview?

I do not know. For what I gathered during my interview I would think they reject people flat out. I would also think they have a post-interview hold/wait-list. But that is an assumption.

I do think they only want people that are comfortable with being in the first class...and also...are a good fit...ie want to be in NC! They said there are at least 21 counties without a general surgeon in NC. And around the same with out family med/peds/internal med etc...They have a need and want to fill it.

I know that they do reject people post interview however
I may be wrong but I got the impression they weren't utilizing any
form of post interview waitlist at this time.. Maybe they will
later once they have a better idea where people commit.
I could be wrong I just haven't heard anyone getting put on one
Only Pre interview hold
 
How long is it for completion? I sent my secondary + letters 2-3 weeks ago. when will they notify me?

You should call to make sure they have everything. I waited about a month and didn't hear anything and then when I called they told me a Letter of Rec. was missing.
 
I called them last week and they said they received my secondary but their system is down for viewing letters of recommendation? Anyone else have that problem? I really want to interview here because I've been hearing nothing but great things!

Yep, it is going to be a long day... But surprisingly enough- the anxiety this day brings is minimal in comparison to that long day of waiting for MCAT results (sooo glad to be done with that test)!!! The minute anybody hears anything, you better post something! To those accepted already: when did you receive your call? I am hoping I get to morph into a camel today, we'll see.

I remember the MCAT day...WOW...it was bad. I remember clicking the button and running away from the monitor...I just couldn't look. My wife had to look at it and give me the thumbs up.

Mine was back in September, so it might be different now... but the committee met on Thursday and I got the call Friday morning around 11, the most exciting call ever :soexcited:

Mine was also in September but in spite of being told it would likely come Friday they made some (or maybe all) acceptance calls Thursday afternoon. I say this so you all can look forward that it may come today but if it doesn't I wouldn't read into it unless you get a nasty gram by email.

Today, after years of hard work and dedication to my dreams, I have been accepted into medical school!!! One of the greatest days of my life!!! I just got the call and look forward to meeting everyone in the fall! I am going to go and run laps now or something, I am so pumped right now!!!

Congratulations! The high after that phone call is definitely one of a kind 😀

No email either so I guess there is still hope!!! 🙂
 
When I found out back in September, my phone call came after 6pm and an acceptance email followed immediately after. So there is still time! Especially given that they might save some for tomorrow to call.

Don't lose hope! Wish you guys the best of luck! 🙂

I got the call a few hours ago. I am a fight camel now!! Congrats everyone who got accepted... Never give up on your passion!
