Campbell University (CUSOM) DIscussion Thread 2013 - 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Scheduled my interview for August 20th. Talked with Caitlin and she was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful explaining everything to me. Very excited to get down there and see everything.

I've been talking to a m1 who says the first class has already really bonded like a family and I hope that what the next class would be like! Gosh I love this school! Could I have just said that for half a page?!?

Secondary submitted June 26th and complete on July 19th.

Did you just get an email stating your file was complete? Just curious I already submitted secondary app and sent LORs about a week ago

I got an e-mail stating mine was complete but I submitted it July 1 and received the complete e-mail July 22.

Which reminds me, has anyone who was confirmed complete on the 22 received an ii?

On July 19th I received the complete email. Hope you hear from them soon!

I'm right there with ya Buckeye... I was complete July 22nd. I'm staying positive though and I'm super pumped for everyone who's getting ii's! Very exciting!

Any idea what percentage of people interviewed were accepted?

can anyone tell me where I need to send my LoR's to using interfolio? can't find it anywhere!

When you set up a delivery, just type in Campbell in the location box and the Campbell School of Osteopathic Medicine should pop up

Recieved my first II from here today. August 27th...can't wait to meet some of you!

Any idea what percentage of people interviewed were accepted?

Last year (2012-2013 cycle):

3800 Applicants
477 Interviewed
162 Acceptances

34% chance accepted if granted an ii

Would resending letters (such as rewritten letters) be free or do we have to pay another 6$?

I sent letters one by one as they came in and I believe it was only $6 per location. So my first letter to Campbell was $6 but the next two I sent to them were free.

162 is total size of class.. actual offers of admission much higher (ie people get accepted but choose other schools)

Lol well that's obvious. Unless were in the admissions office, there's no way to know for sure how many total acceptances were offered because throughout the entire app cycle, people dropped seats, declined offers, etc... and so the school would accept more students as this happened. Very dynamic process. I should have specified to make it more clearly: 162 is the MINIMUM number of acceptances offered, we at least know that for sure, so you have AT LEAST a 34% chance of being accepted if interviewed. Sorry for my lack of detail, just assumed the details were common sense.

Anywho, 34% chance is very good. If the statistic remains the same this cycle, then more than 1 out of 3 interviewers will get an acceptance. Good luck to all of you!

Just for perspective last cycle Marian gave out 281 acceptances for a class size of 162.

for Campbell its closer to 80%

Not sure where you got this number but there was not substantial wait list movement and the class filled fairly early so I would be surprised if it were that high.

Regardless, keep in mind that it will be increasingly competitive here this year and in the years ahead as the school becomes more established and well-recognized. Last year, Campbell had the second highest total applications for a new DO school in the history of the profession, this year they are already almost 40% up in submitted applications... the word is out on this program, let the excitement begin 🙂

I'd love to have my august acceptance here and then just cancel everything else.....applying is like a third job on top of my classes

source: admissions counselors of several schools..

but if you want to believe its closer to 34% thats cool, whatever makes you sleep better.. have a great day.

LOL. Admissions counselors at several schools... great source bud.

you can glamorize Campbell as much as you like, mr. common sense, but people that end up attending have few if any other options.. thats not saying anything bad about the school, it is just the reality of being the f'ing new guy without a reputation.. you have to be a completely off to be rejected post interview from Campbell.. like I said if you want to believe the percentage is closer to 34% thats cool.. but you should probably be more familiar with the admissions process before offering your advice to these kids.. enjoy class and good luck on your exams

First of all, I never said it was closer to 34%. I said that's the MINIMUM it could be. So please don't twist my words. Secondly, obviously it'll be greater than 34% cause CUSOM is a new school, that's common sense. You don't need an admissions counselor to tell you that. I doubt it's at 80%, but it's definitely higher than 34% for sure. I am very well aware of the admissions process thank you. Please don't assume/overanalyze people's statements next time. And any school you attend you'll glamorize haha. We got the spectrum here, from 24 MCAT to MD acceptance. But anyway, we're adults here, no need to get hostile 🙂 good luck with your app cycle.

Alright! What date?

And I have above average stats and would be stoked to be at this school. It is affiliated with a great university whose Law and Pharm schools are top notch. I have no doubts that the medschool will follow. The facilities are amazing and they have set up clinicals at large hospitals. Plus the cost of living is way lower than other places. For me, with a large family, this is a big consideration as loans only stretch so far.

Who else is interviewing on 27th!?

for Campbell its closer to 80%

They are right that there wasn't much wait list movement. I would say that it was around 60%. From my interview group, only 3 of the 12 interviewed were accepted.

It doesn't matter what the acceptance rate is, just be yourself.

When did you interview?

Lol. You're right, hostile was extreme of a word to use my bad. All in all, stop making mountains out of mole hills kid. There are more important things to talk about on this thread.

Playa how do you like the area? How many of you guys will be talking with us? There's 3 interviews: are they laid back? Science prof, DO and who else ?
