Id call them and let em know you're retaking..CUSOM rejects for any subsection under a 7. I think you'd be very lucky to get an interview at any other school with a 5 verbal..it's next to nil. It's good that you're retaking in Sept, study hard.

For what its worth, I got a secondary with 6 VR.

Also don't know how much the policy has changed over the past year but according to 2012-2013 UD thread someone got accepted with a 5 VR.

That's what admissions told me and others on this thread. Also my friend got a secondary with a 6 only to get rejected for reason of subsection below 7.

Playa how do you like the area? How many of you guys will be talking with us? There's 3 interviews: are they laid back? Science prof, DO and who else ?

Hey NontradCA. I live right next to the school (literally a 1 minute drive) and love the area, personally. I'm from a big city so to be in a laid back, no traffic, serine town is great for studying and being at peace haha. Plus its super cheap here. This town has everything you need pretty much, grocery store, a couple bars and restaurants. The undergrad campus has all the activities and recreations as most other universities. I know other students here however don't like being in a rural area, so there's a good amount that commute from Fuquay-Varina (20 minutes from the school) where it's more populated and has major department stores, lots of restaurants and bars, etc...

I'm not too sure how many students signed up for the lunch interviews, but everyone I spoke with did, so that's at least 10 students that I know of for sure. We signed up for multiple days so hopefully there's at least 1 student there for each interview group.

When did you interview?

I interviewed late January, so admittedly that could be the reason why. However, 80% is way too high, at most it is 65%. It doesn't matter though if you do poorly you do poorly. This school is genuinely looking for people that fit with their goals.

Hey man thanks for the input. I went to a small liberal arts undergrad, so I'm looking forward to getting back to it. If you don't mind me asking, how is the outdoor recreation in the area? And also i noticed in this thread, it doesn't talk too much about the Christian side of this school. If you could comment, advice would be much appreciated sir!

Someone got in last year with 3.2/22

Congratulations on your ii. How long did it take from the time you submitted your secondary to the school inviting you to interview? Thanks in advance.

I'm so ridiculously nervous for next week.....It's hard to believe I'm going to visit a place I might move to for 4 yrs

Don't worry you will be fine. The interviews are like one-on-one conversations. I know all schools like to say that, but that's the way it really is at CUSOM. I ended up talking a lot about fishing in one of my interviews.

No problem. The recreation is great. Campus has outdoor/indoor basketball courts, soccer fields, golf course, tennis court, volleyball, track n field, a few running/biking trails, kayaking on the Cape Fear river, and a bowling alley nearby. I'm sure there's more out there. A bunch of us are actually going to do the Color Run in September so that should be pretty fun.

Religious life here varies. We have people from multiple faiths (a few Jewish people, a few Hindus, Muslim, Atheists) but most are Christian I'd say. Other than maybe a lecturer once in a while beginning his/her class with a prayer, there is no religion injected into the curriculum. A lot of the students have found churches to go together which is great, but the focus at the school is medicine, not theology, that is done on your own time and however you like.

A medical school lecturer beginning with a prayer? Wtf.

Got me in a rush to get a suit now. Staying at the microtel in lillington. Anyone else?

Haha don't think of it like we were in church or anything, I'm probably the most anti-religious guy you'll meet and to me it wasn't intense or awkward at all. It was very brief (I didn't even realize it happened till after, by the time I took out my laptop and turned it on it was over haha), participation was not required or anything, and it happened only once so far, not like it's been everyday every class.

Haha. I can imagine the scenario you just laid out; not paying attention, taking out the laptop and then being like "wait, what?"

It's a lot like the pledge of allegiance or those who are JW, you just be respectfully quiet for a few secods and then life continues as normal. My local rodeo starts with a prayer and there is no chance that everyone there is a christian.

Exactly ha. Not like pamphlets were handed out and we all had to read and follow together, followed by song and reflection.

Can the people who have been getting interview invites post stats?

Woke up and added 3 schools on AACOMAS today. 5 minutes later...

ii! 🙄

3.4/3.6/26

Remember as the season progresses the time between secondary submitted/complete/interview invite will change as schools will have more on their plates.

+1 haha

yeah it is a private christian school, they technically can do whatever they want

appreciate the input again man, hope to be your fellow classmate soon! any interview tips or specific points campbell really likes about applicants?

Is it true that they will reject you for having a 6 in any section of the MCAT? I feel like that's bizarre considering on their website they state the most important factors are GPA and interview. Just curious if anyone has gotten an interview with a 6

3.5/3.5/28

So has no one interviewed yet? I guess I'll be going with the first batch on the 20th, anyone else going then?

Rural primary care in NC and specifically Harnett county. I wouldn't say that you want to practice in Harnett county because that wouldn't come off as genuine, but if you grew up in a rural area just stress that and how the area reminds you of home etc. Many of my classmates are from rural areas, and the school has stated before that they looked at applicants from rural area more closely because they think that they are most likely to stay and practice in Harnett county. A few of the specialties that they are in need of are EM, Gen Surg, and all primary care (especially OB/GYN). If you have an interest in one of these, make it known during the interview.

Also, I'm not saying that you have to be from a rural area or interested in primary care to be accepted because many students are from populous areas as well. I'm just saying that if you happen to be that may help a little. First and foremost, they are looking for students that can handle a medical curriculum, and have a genuine interest in medicine.

Just drove around campus a bit....love the area and the campus is gorgeous!
