Come one, come all, to the grown up (and deadly! :heckyeah:) version of the Scholastic Book Fair: my bookshelf.
I've hoarded books from all over the land - regular book stores, used book stores, comic book stores, the library, school, the street, you name it. I've got stacks of book on my desk, in my closet, on my couch, under my bed... and even some that made it onto a bookshelf! Unfortunately, it seems that some of my books are meeting a bit of a bitter end before I can finish them. Can you help me save my books from certain destruction so I can actually read them all?

Game Rules
  • Be kind and courteous to other players. Disrespectful and excessively cantankerous behavior will not be tolerated.
  • If you would like to change your avatar to something book themed, the mods would welcome it. 😀
  • Do not discuss this game outside of the game thread, game-permitted PMs, and role PMs. Refrain from discussing this game with other players in real life.
  • There is no posting minimum in this game, but repeated ghosting and absence will be noted and may be punished with mod killing.
  • Please hide gifs in spoiler tags and move off-topic conversations to the Sign Up Thread. You may be gently nudged to move if you are too off topic.
  • Players may PM only with the player immediately above or below them in their group roster. PMing may occur at any time and does not need to include mods (although we do sometimes enjoy being nosy).
  • There is no village code in this game, which will become more apparent as the game progresses. We do not advise you attempt to use it.
  • No lynch is not allowed in this game.
  • Bold or ##hash## your lynch votes. If you ##hash##, please make sure your vote is on a separate line.
  • Role revealing is fine, but probably won’t be entirely useful to you. Direct quoting of mod PMs is not allowed. Feel free to quote player PMs with abandon.
  • Please do not edit or delete lynch votes. It hurts my brain.
  • No strategy posting between lynch close and lynch write up. No strategy posting between night close and night write up.
  • Dead players and spectators may ***post in stars*** on thread. No posting strategy. Once we hit end game I will give you a notice to cease posting on thread so the living players can focus on the game.
  • Have fun. Have fun! Have fun!!!
Lynch deadlines will be 7:00 PM PST/8:00 PM MST/9:00 PM CST/10:00 PM EST and night deadlines will be 5:00 AM PST/6:00 AM MST/7:00 AM CST/8:00 AM EST

Author's Note
The bookish among you may have noticed that the role abilities are, for the most part, related to the title and content of the books. This does not mean you can role hunt based on books you know or thought I didn’t like or by books that feature darker content or evil protagonists. Roles in this game were RNGd to their affiliation, so knowing role name and ability alone will not give you a fabulous idea of affiliation.

Much like in most books, it will behoove you to pay attention and follow the characters’ behaviors and actions to learn their true nature.

The following is a list of books that I read in the year 2019. All roles in this game will come from this list.
1. Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
2. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
3. The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee
4. The Humbling by Philip Roth
5. If on a winter's night a traveler by Italo Calvino

16. Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett

Role PM format is as follows:
[Picture of book cover] Goodreads description: [Goodreads description text]. You are [TITLE] by [AUTHOR]. [Role description].

Most of the role descriptions contain the word “since” in them, but not necessarily all. This should not be an issue anyway, since direct quoting of mod PMs is not allowed in this game.

To clarify some questions I've gotten in role PMs:

You may PM with either the person above or below you in the roster. You can PM with both of them, but they must be separate PMs. If one of them dies, you can now PM with whoever is next to you on the roster.

If you are the last person in a group, you may PM with the first member of the group, and vice versa.

As an example, killerleaf can PM separately with MsP and genny.

AM was the first to post in the last game (Basics) and she wasn't a wolf there. So don't think this is conclusive evidence
It’s more of just a long running WW joke that I learned from old games that the first to post is a wolf. Mostly just a joke lynch vote for now. I’ll probably change it later.

Don’t interpret the emoji too much. I seriously just really like it :heckyeah: :heckyeah: :heckyeah:
