Just to get the ball rolling and because someone else would say it anyway...

You need to tell us what your thoughts already are about these schools and why you're having a tough time deciding. Please give us your goals and what YOU already see is a pro/con for each school. This helps people in giving you info that is pertinent to you.

agreed. where are you from? if it's illinois, you'll probably save a lot of money going to illinois. mcw is starting a new curriculum this year and you'll be a guinea pig for it ..

Any thoughts please? trying hard to decide.

Current MCW student here. PM me if you have any questions. Usually I say that cost should be a primary concern when applying to schools, so double check how much things will cost over the course of 4 years. When I applied a couple cycles ago, it was less expensive for me to attend MCW (I'm also an Illinois resident). U of I tuition shoots up 3rd and 4th year if I remember correctly.

MCW. Normally I'd say pro/con list is necessary as well but UIC actually thought about raising in state M1 tuition to $41k a year this year in IL. The finances in IL are a mess, go MCW which is a great school that has their act together.

Depends upon your goals. Both are good schools. What will each cost? What do you want to do? How do you fit the schools' missions and resources?

Thanks for the initial response. I'd like a school where it's less likely for students to fall through the cracks - with faculty that maybe more interested in teaching and responsive to students.

Illinois is going to end up being more expensive, even though I'm in-state. Ultimately, I'd like a positive environment.

It seemed the MCW students were happier overall but I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible.

Well, the whole MCW getting a new curriculum thing is something to consider as well. If you feel you might be someone likely to fall through the cracks, a large school (200+ students) and being their guinea pig could be a con. That said, I liked MCW but didn't apply to IL, so I honestly don't know what would be best for you. It sucks that your in-state school costs so much. Good luck with your decision!

For what it's worth, their residency director's assessments are fairly comparable with IL offering more early clinical experience. Of course, MCW is ranked slightly higher in research if that's your thing.
