got a sooner interview for 02/08,,, hope that increases my chances
For waitlisted, anything else we can do aside from sending the letter of intent?
I'm a little worried because I got an ii Dec. 13th but didn't get an email...I just checked my status online and saw my invite! I scheduled my interview for Mar. 14th because it's the earliest open. I'm worried that it might be too late?? Anyone else have this problem?

That's wonderful to hear. I am actually curious about how the current students feel about the education and a post like this is really valuable to me.Hi everyone. I am a student at Marian COM, although I never post on SDN. I wanted to write a post expressing how thankful I am that I chose Marian University COM over my other acceptances. We are currently in our neuro block and each day I am increasingly impressed with the quality of our education. We have top neurologists from IU school of medicine who are ecstatic to be at our school guest lecturing. The entire community of healthcare professionals is so excited about our school, which is a wonderful thing. Our anatomy course 1st semester was the best class I have ever taken (taught by passionate professors who really understand the learning process) and it has greatly prepared us for neuroanatomy as well as OMM this block. I remember how hard it was to choose a medical school and everyday I am thankful that I decided to attend Marian COM.
I am curious about this as well.Would any one be comfortable saying which schools they picked Marian over? Just curious 🙂 may be in a similar situation

Hey guys, I know there are interviews going on this weekend and they interview two weekends out of each month. Does anyone know if the second weekend for interviews is next weekend?
thanks in advance!

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it.The next interviews are in 3 weeks on Feb 7th and 8th.
Admissions
Thanks buddy 🙂I believe they are usually every other weekend. So I'd assume the next one will be in two weeks. (I think the first interviews this month were 2 weeks ago- first weekend of January... not positive though).
I guess I just don't understand why ths matters... everyone picks schools based on personal preferences. Pick the school you see yourself most comfortable attending whether it's based on location, facilities, interview day etc. That part is unique to you and you only.
Wow

Is attending the accepted student open house on March 8th mandatory for students that have confirmed matriculation? What sort of information would be covered there that would otherwise not be conveyed through the regular updates/email?
For me, I loved the location of Marian, but the lack of study space, coffee shop/food, and slight emphasis on religion were reasons why I picked ACOM over Marian. To me, the schools were equally nice, and Marian was a better location.. but I liked all the side stuff ACOM offers. I also like the south, but that's just me. The other two schools I was debating between are out for numerous reasons, so it really came down to those two.
Personally every place I have been has impressed me. Unless I just haven't had a "lightbulb" moment.. but the only differences would be location really.
Tough decisions heh
Just wanted to point out there is NO emphasis on religion here. Please don't be spreading this inaccuracy. Yes, Marian is a catholic university and there are crosses/chapels & such. But none of that is pushed on you or is incorporated in the classroom. I am extremely non-religious and I have had no problems since attending Marian. Just wanted to point this out.
No it's not mandatory. I went last year though and personally really liked it mainly because I met a lot of future classmates that are my friends right now. If you're a plane ride away maybe not worth it, but I was only a few hours so i definitely wanted to. I'd go if you could 🙂
Thanks for the info. Do you remember how long the session was and what sort activities were done that day?
Lol. I get ya, but unless you are a vampire and can't be on holy ground with out spontaneously bursting into flames, the religious affiliation of this school probably won't affect you at all. Like Buddy said, there is absolutely zero religious influence on the curriculum in the medical school itself.I wasn't spreading an inaccuracy. There is a chapel in the actual medical school, so whether they push it on you or not, you can't deny religion exists at the school. Honestly, it doesn't bother me too much, but when a decision comes down to tiny details, that's one of them for me. They made it a point to say religion didn't matter, which is great, and I don't look down on them per se for it being there.
It's pretty much an all day thing. They had a social event for us the evening before (it was at a trendy sushi bar- was a lot of fun!) and lots of students went out bar hopping and socializing after that. The actual event the next day included a lunch (that was fantastic- best cupcakes I've had in my life) and it lasted until around 4pm. It included a lot of info you already have received like curriculum stuff, but it was still nice to hear it again and see the school for a second time. Other stuff that day: parents/significant others allowed to check everything out, buy swag from the bookstore 😉 , see the campus again, listen to physician panelists, etc. This year you'll have the added benefit of meeting current students and chatting with them. It concluded with a small social hour (wine/beer/soda/appetizers). I think it is definitely worth attending if you can afford to. I lived about 8 hours away and drove there for it with my significant other. I used the weekend to do some house/apartment hunting as well.
That sounds pretty fantastic. I'm in a similar situation and live about an 8h away but seriously considering making the drive down there. Was there some sort of dress code in effect for the evening mixer or the actual open house day? I really don't feel like wearing a suit lol.
Us high class demons are OK.Lol. I think a few people have been accepted off of the wait list. I'm certainly not one of those few.Hello...Did anyone get accepted off the alternate list yet ? came to know about couple of alternate list reviews - wondering whether someone here did get through off the wait list yet ??
Thanks

Hello all, I interviewed at Marian a little while ago and got waitlisted. But after going to other schools I'm certain that I want to attend Marian. So my question, to anyone who can answer it: I want to write a letter of intent but I not sure if the COM is looking for anything specific. Could anyone let me know if they are.
Thanks
