I figured there has been a lot of talk about waitlist (myself included) so I thaught it might be time to create this thread for people waiting on waitlists hoping to get in. There is a good chance that this won't be usefull for another two months, but here goes. Some info that I would like recorded is where people are accepted, the schools they would rather go to and are waitlisted, and schools they are waiting from post interview (if you don't have an interview at a school by now, I hate to burst your bubble but you probably won't) So list the schools in each catagory and rank the schools your waiting on. If your on a waitlist to a school you wouldn't go to over a school you've been accepted at, don't list it. Here is a sample person:

Accepted:
U Mich
Northwestern

Waitlisted:
1. Harvard
3. Upenn
5. JHU

Waiting post interview:
2. UCLA
4. UCSF

And here is my list

Accepted:
Unfortunately, none

Waitlisted (in order of where I want to go)
1A. Baylor
3. U Mich
4. Case Western
5. Ohio State
6. Tulane
9. St. Louis

Waiting to hear from
1A. USC
5. Northwestern
7. Jefferson
8. George Washington
10. Temple

I think this list would give you an idea who to pull for. Also if someone gives up a spot at a school you want to go to, it would make your day happier. I donno. I just love having tons of information. Feel free to post anything else on this thread.

Jalbrekt said I could post on his new thread even though I don't have any wait lists yet, so here goes:

Waiting Post Interview:

1. UF
2. BU
4. GW
4. Temple
6. Vermont
6. Finch/CMS

No, don't rub your eyes, it's not that I can't count, but much like the USNews rankings, some schools are tied for me. That is because I haven't even had my last 3 interviews yet! But you can be sure I will keep this info updated for your viewing pleasure!

Waitlist:
GW (1 and only choice)

accepted:
1) Northwestern
3) Umich

waitlisted:
1) Pritzker
4) Rochester
5) Wayne State

My list seems a little confusing, but Northwestern and Pritzker are tied for me right now. Pritzker is the only waitlist that I am actively pursuing.

DukeGirlie

Waitlisted: UMDNJ
Meharry
Still have interviews to go.

I'll participate but I don't want to numerically rank them since I'm just praying to get an acceptance anywhere.

Acceptances: None.

Waitlisted: Columbia, Emory, Tulane.

Waiting to hear from post-interview: NYU, Wash U, SUNY Downstate.

Just in the interest of knowing where I'll be going for sure before the summer, I would probably go to Wash U or NYU if they accept me without a waitlist.

Still have interviews to go.•••••Which UMDNJ are you waitlisted at? RWJ/NJMS?

Mellow: I am waitilisted at NJMS.

Acceptances: nada :(

Waitlisted: UPenn, Tulane, SLU

Waiting post-int: GTown, NYMC, Einstein, BU, Creighton

Obviously, UPenn is tops on my list, but if I don't get in there I hesitate to rank the rest...

•Mellow: I am waitilisted at NJMS.•••••Me too man.....it sucks. The dean told me they have hardly taken people off that list in the last two years. I think they put people on it instead of rejecting them, because that's the way it's going to turn out anyway. I was told that I am in the middle of the waitlist. Unless you are top ten, I was told you better keep on truckin'.
It's a good school and I really wanted to attend there. I just interviewed with Howard, I am waiting to see how that goes.

Mellow,
Which Dean gave you this information ? I have met a number of currently enrolled students who got in off the waitlist. When did you interview, and when were you waitlisted ?
Many questions, I know......

Many questions, I know......•••••What year are the students in? The dean said in the past two yaers, the waitlist movement has been considerably slow. If they pluck off 20 people that would be a surprise. I've heard this from other people as well. Email him (dean Henrich) asking what your position is on the waitlist and what percentage of applicants are removed from the list in a typical year? He will reply within 24hrs....which is real cool. I interviewed late Jan, waitlisted late Feb/early March.

These are second year students. I 'll email Dean Heinrich.

Accepted:
4) Ohio State
5) GW
6) UIC

Waitlisted:
1) Umich
2) Pitt
3) Case Western

For those of you who are waiting. I just withdrew my application from U Mich and Tulane post-acceptance. So, there should be some minimal movement soon.

mdanielle, let us know what Dean Heinrich say's.

Accepted:
USC

Waitlisted:

Haven't heard from post-interview:
UCSD, WashU, Baylor

Accepted:
USC
Georgetown

Waitlisted:
UMich

If UMich comes through I'm going...so I'll be giving up slots at SC and G-town. I'm ranked in the top 1/3 of the waitlist...supposedly it's made up of about 300 people this year. Anyone know about UMich movement?

Hey ccryder - Thanks for the early decision!

DukeGirlie- will you be giving up your UMich acceptance as well?

Take care all.

Darwin,

How did you find out your relative position within the list at Michigan? Did you call recently?

Thanks.

Downstate

arggghhhhh!

I am waitlisted at:

~U. Michigan (seems to be a common link on this thread)
~Vanderbilt

I haven't heard from Rochester yet post-interview.

Michigan is far and away my top choice. I don't yet know my relative waitlist position, but I have a question about how they pull people off their waitlist. I think I've heard that within each tier, students aren't completely ranked, but they try to pull someone off the waitlist that fills the spot that someone who's been accepted has left behind. What I mean by this is that if they accept an out of state, male applicant, and that person chooses not to attend umich, then they will pull an out of state, male applicant from the waitlist. Do any of you know if this is correct?

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting...I hope we all get accepted by our first choice schools!

I'll play the waitlist game!

So, has anyone actually been accepted from a waitlist yet this season? I know it's a little early, but you never know!

Accepted:
Tufts
Pitt
Penn :)

Waitlists:
DUKE :(

Does anyone have any information about Duke's waitlist (how it works, etc.)? It would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! I really really want to be at Duke next year :)

•••••Tommy, I wasn't aware BU was sending out wait list notifications yet, and the "acceptance, wait list, rejection" thread reflects zero wait lists. Are you really on the wait list, or are you on the "acceptable list" like the rest of us?

I'm just wondering because I interviewed over 4 months ago and am getting antsy about hearing something from them.

Thanks!

••••Oh, I think I misinterpreted their letter. It's been quite a while since I read it, and now that you mention it I think it DID sound more like an "on hold" or "acceptable but not right now" sort of thing, rather than an official waitlist. Sorry about that! I'm guessing I'm in the same category as you guys.

Jalbrekt,

Two things:
1) I dont understand how finding out where your position on the waitlist can move UMich from #3 of the places you want to go to #10. I think you are just assuming that you wont get it.

2) I dont think you should count yourself out just yet. I have a few reasons for believing this. First of all.... Michigan's numbers from the past show that they take about 350 people per year. I can imagine that that would mean about 180-200 from the waitlist. Also..... I think people will withdraw their position from the waitlist before May 15th.... improving the chances for people below them (especially people in the "top-third" who may have gotten in other top 10 schools and choose to matriculate elsewhere).

Michigan happens to be my top choice and I am waitlisted at this point too. Their waitlist numbers from the past look very promising for everyone on it. I dont think I am going to call because I cant take news like that over the phone.... I will be back in Michigan in mid-April and will ask in person.

good luck.
