I was accepted to OSU and recently got an II from stony brook. Is it worthwhile to go to the interview?

OSU ranks higher than stony brook and may have more research and clinical opportunites, but stony brook's location is better for me. (close to NYC, where there are more job opportunities for my husband).

I am OOS for both of them.

Thanks!

haha I'm in the opposite situation. I was accepted to SBU pretty early. I was wavering on whether or not to check out OSU...but decided to go for it anyway. I'll be there in Jan!

In terms of whether or not to go to SBU II... It feels like a solid program with access to the vast resources of the main campus as well. Both OSU and SBU will let you get in-state tuition after a year, so financially they seem equal. If it works out better for you lifestyle wise with your family and current life situation, I'd say it's worth it to go and check it out. At the end of the day you'll want to be where you're comfortable.

I have been accepted to both programs and they are both amazing programs! But, from my point of view if you're going to SB because you think it's close to NYC and there are more job opportunities, I don't think that you will be very satisfied. I live in NYC and it took me quite a while to get to SB through trains and LIRR; def. not something I would do on a daily basis. Also, the LIE is like the worst thing in the world. Therefore, realistically you would have your husband look for a job in Stony Brook and I would say that there would be more opportunities in Columbus than SB. I greatly enjoyed OSU and believe that there are way more opportunities for your career and his there. Both schools are solid but I would say OSU has the upper hand. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the rankings though. These are dynamic and subjective. Good luck to you.
