Touro COM - New York, Harlem Campus (TouroCOM-NY, Harlem) Discussion Thread 2015 - 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just letting you guys know that even though there are 135 students in the class, there are 35 students from the MS program. The school always reserves at least 35-40 seats from the DO class for the MS students.

One thing to consider is that they usually take a lot of people off the waitlist. Also at my interview a couple of weeks ago they said they interviewed around 260 people at that point, which doesnt seem like a lot for a 135 person sized class, once you factor in people who decide to go elsewhere. I think getting an II gives you a decent shot at eventual acceptance, or so I hope.
Very informative! I do agree they will give more acceptance than their class size, maybe significantly larger.

Can anyone give me contact information of someone is Admission please. I have tried contacting them multiple times also leaving voicemails but no-one is getting back to me :/

Just heard back, and got accepted! So excited!

Lizzy score: 62

Secondary invite: 10/14
Secondary submitted: 11/3
Interview invite: 2/1
Interview: 2/17
Acceptance: 3/1

Good luck to everyone applying!
Congrats that was my interview date so now I'm getting anxious

i'm still hoping for an interview at touro middletown - anyone know if they are still offering interviews or if there is a different sdn page for that campus? thanks!

Does anyone know if the 2015 Match results are from Touro-Harlem, Touro-CA, or Touro- NV...or it a comprehensive result from all of them...

I would like to know the match results for only TouroCOM-Harlem..but it doesn't say on their website (https://tourocom.touro.edu/academics/do-program/the-match/match-results/).

I'm pretty sure that is Harlems match list.

Here is TUNs for 2014: http://opti-west.org/pdfs/2014_match_tucom_nv.pdf
Here is TUCOM for 2014: http://opti-west.org/pdfs/2014_match_tucom_ca.pdf

That site didn't have 2015 yet. But if you compare those to the 2014 on the link you provided they are different. Also, there are 135 listed on the site you linked which is the class size of TouroCOM Harlem. Middletown has not matched yet.

March 1 is a lucky day! Congrats to lucky guys!

Very late in the cycle but my file is finally complete as of today. Shot in the dark, but does anybody have any idea what I can expect in terms of turnaround time for review of my application? It seems some of you have received interview invitations pretty quickly after your secondaries were in

Could any current student or anyone tell me if the $4,000 they allot for "books and equipment" is something that is deducted before you get your refund check for living expenses? I can't imagine that books and supplies would be $4000, especially given that they provide most books for free in digital form. If that $4000 is included in the refund and even half of it can be used towards rent and living it would make a huge difference.

Hi guys - I'm Canadian and I have my interview on March 9 in Harlem. Any recommendations for hotels in the area? Any advice would be appreciated! Hoping to book within next few days. How's the morningside inn? Where did you out-of-towners stay? Please help! Thanks!

Did you do airport shuttle from JFK? If yes for airport shuttle - did the shuttle take you to Aloft? Or just to a central location in Mahattan?

Thanks guys!

I did not do shuttle. I got on the AirTrain at JFK and transferred to subway at Jamaica. I got off the subway two blocks away from the hotel. The whole trip was about 1 hour.

You can expect 3-4 weeks.

For those that interviewed with the good cop/bad cop type of panel, what kind of questions did they ask? Trying to prepare 😵

Try the interview feedback section of SDN. I have found a lot of the questions to be very similar.

All you need to be ready for is "Why was your MCAT score bad? Why did you do poorly in this course? Why is your GPA low?" if any of those apply to you. You should have a good answer ready. Everything else is just about you and your application so know your application well. You will be fine.

For those accepted - did they put the class schedules on our portal yet? I'm having a hard time of figuring out the portal.

Any FB group yet?

Your facebook group has been made but it is a closed group, and people will get links for it from the admissions! Regarding your schedules, they have not decided on what time your classes will be or how the following first year class will be done with exams quite yet. All the first years will get the schedule for classes over the summer.

What'd you say out of curiosity?

What'd you say out of curiosity?

I just owned my shortcomings and explained how I have grown and learned from them and how I have made sure I'm prepared for medical school. My advice is to just be prepared to show self awareness about why something went wrong and how you learned from it. If they invited you for an interview they are ok with accepting you based on your grades and MCAT. The bad cop questions are to see how you react. Whatever you do don't get nervous or defensive. Really not so bad and honestly I prefer to have a chance to explain any concerns in an interview. Good luck!

I took the subway downtown with two awesome people that I'd love to hear from after my 2/17 interview. Let me know if you see this bc I wanna talk!

Hey did anyone get any links for the housing/apartments that the students that graduate past down to the new students?

What about background check and drug screening? There was nothing about that in the email after the deposit.
