Hey all, I saw how some other schools had their own waitlist threads, so I decided to create one for Wake Forest. According to the waitlist letter, unlike most schools Wake chooses not to overaccept, so there's usually a considerable amount of waitlist movement come May.

So far, two SDN users (bskizer8, Bearferret) have reportedly been accepted from the waitlist. I think this may be unusual though, since historically most movement hasn't occured until after April. I'm guessing the ADCOM was really interested in bskizer8 and Bearferret from the get-go.

Here is some inspiring data I found for the Class of 2007:

501 Interviewed
276 Accepted
120 Enrolled

If it's true that Wake initially accepts only 120, this means that 156 would be pulled from the waitlist. And at most there would be 381 (501 minus 120) people waiting. I'm assuming some people would withdraw from the waitlist though after being accepted somewhere else, so the 381 is probably not accurate (it's probably closer to 300, maybe?). Of course this is all my own speculation, but 156/300... that's not bad 🙂

Anywhoo, that's all I have for now. I'd appreciate it if you guys would share any waitlist-related news below.

Good luck to everyone who's hoping to be accepted from the waitlist! :luck:

alright! maybe this thread was all fate needed to start moving this waitlist! whoo hoo wake 🙂

I'm withdrawing my acceptance, so cheers to whoever gets my spot. Good luck!

I saw it first!

Has anyone had any luck with calling to find out more about the waitlist? According to previous years' threads, people were occasionally told where they stood on the waitlist/what their chances were, but I don't know whether they're doing that this year. I called the admissions office a few weeks ago and was told there'd be no news until the first week of May at the earliest. But according to the class of 2012 and 2011 threads, it's possible to get a different response depending on who answers the phone. I don't want to call again so soon in fear of annoying them... but I was wondering if anyone has had more success than I have over the phone?

I just withdrew my acceptance. Good luck to those on the waitlist!:luck:

For those who got waitlisted or accepted, what were your GPA and MCAT #s if you don't mind sharing?

I go to UCSD, CA resident, with cGPA ~3.5, and 35Q, typical EC's, volunteering, research. Do I have a chance with being waitlisted?

I wanted to know based on people actually posting in this thread (and applied). Thanks!

According to the Wake Forest website, the average MCAT and median GPA for students entering in 2006 were 30.6 and 3.59, respectively. Although your MCAT is a little lower than the median, I still think you still have a good chance because of your high MCAT.

Also, the 2007 entering class had an avg MCAT of 30.9 and median GPA of 3.64.

I heard the newest MSAR came out not too long ago. Has anyone seen their most recent statistics?

I think the week of May 4th we'll see a lot of movement.

I'm ready to know where I'll be in the fall. Is anyone else experiencing "senioritis"? I'm just ready for something new! I think that feeling will be reflected in my transcript...

I just called and was told that at a later date Irene will be able to tell us where we stand on the wait list. Vague, but still at least nice to know. She also said that there should be a considerable amount acceptances given out here soon to wait listees after May 1st (which is the date that the holding fee is no longer refundable). So yeah, basically the same info you got.

i thought the waitlist is suppose to be "unranked."

I wonder what "a later date" means. Pre-May 1st of post-may 1st?

new to sdn, finally decided to join in on the madness!! i am also on the waitlist. I spoke to Irene in early March and was told she could me an idea of ranking in late March. When I called in late March she told me (somewhat hesitantly) that I was in the top 1/3 of the waitlist. I don't think there is an actual "ranking" per se, but based on how the committee voted she can give an idea of where you stand in relation to others on the waitlist. May 1 is fast approaching!

That's really interesting. I guess this confirms that you'll be told differently depending on whom you speak to. Good thing May is just a week away!

It is to some extent. I also got that same bit of information as well. From what she told me, around June the admissions office will have a list of the top applicants on the waiting list that should be accepted should a spot come open. If I remember correctly this list is very small, but it also comes after the huge movement on the list in May.

Don't quote me exactly on that information, because I am going by my memory and I talked to her about this in mid-March.

If it makes anyone feel better, in the years past I've noticed that there are more people on the waitlist that are accepted on this forum than those that are rejected. In fact, I don't think I've only found one post of someone on the waitlist that was finally rejected on SDN. I really do think the waitlist is good standing at Wake. Good luck everyone!

haha..of course they get rejected...silently..and they wont post up on SDN stating 4 months later..."ooh, i got silently rejected!" 😛...501 interview, only 276 accepted, so around 234 gets the sad news

Well we should also consider that not everybody initially placed on the waitlist decides to stay active (i.e. some people end up withdrawing prematurely). 👍

Unfortunately, it's still pretty likely that some Wake Forest hopefuls are eventually silently rejected. 🙁

Does anyone know how Wake contacts students when they're pulled from the waitlist (e-mail, phone call, or regular mail)?

withdrew my acceptance the other day...good luck!

from previous years...email...

they notify everyone every friday if they get off the waitlist...i think they meet thurs and notify thru email on friday...similar to being initially waitlisted after interview.

Oh ok, thanks. I received my waitlist e-mail on a Monday though 😕

Anyone think this Friday will be the day we start to see movement? I wonder if they'll wait until next week to start the waitlist movement.

I'm just glad that May 1st is almost here....

i've heard from a couple of students who are withdrawing from wake to attend UNC because the tuition is cheaper..there will be a lot of movement on friday

I just withdrew and know of another that did as well...so hopefully it will be soon for yall.

GOod luck!

another reason why i'm a big fan of chubbychasers

Good luck to all those on the waitlist--I really liked Wake Forest but couldn't justify paying so much more than other options to attend.

No news from me...I can't stop checking my email though!:xf:

yeah nothing here either... too bad today's office hours are pretty much over. perhaps next week shall be more exciting.

I guess it would make sense for them to wait until May 1st is over... so everyone who is going to withdraw can withdraw and Monday morning they can start working with the spots they have available.

man..have to wait another WEEK...im guessing next friday?

I doubt it'll be another week... most people found out soon after May 1st last year... who knows... I'm just trying to be optimistic at this point..

Is everyone ready for it to rain acceptance letters this week? PLEASE?
