when I was there on my interview the students that took us on the tour told us it was about 40-50%... and then i think i got a letter from wake saying about the same.
So, I normally don't post-- but I wanted to let everyone know that I was accepted off of the waitlist today. It is my first acceptance (I only applied to 6 schools) so I'm extremely happy 🙂 Went to Wake as an undergrad...
I'm a teacher and I couldn't even finish teaching the rest of the day...sooo excited!!! my principal, students, and coworkers were sad to hear the news but i was doing this...![]()
I remember you I think.... November 5th interview day?
Do you guys think there will still be considerable movement before July?
called today....was told i was towards the bottom of the top half. 🙁
what does that mean?! prob no chance right?

Wow! Sorry that sounds really harsh. I hope you get in another school!
Was told I'm in the bottom of the top 1/3.... I'm not sure thats a good place to be at this point. I guess time can only tell....
It turns out that's where I am. They made it sound really bleak on the phone, though. Must be a pretty big waitlist.

let me get something straight chemnerd. when I had pm'ed you, you had stated "I was told that I was "pretty far down" on the list. I assumed bottom half. She then asked if I had other acceptances, and that I shouldn't be making plans to attend Wake because my chances aren't that good. She also expected decreased movement each week."
now tell me, how is what you wrote to me == you being on the bottom of the top 1/3 ???? irene told you you had no chance after telling you that you were on the bottom of the top 1/3?
its really a tough time for us all, and by purposely misleading me or anyone else on this thread, you really come off as an incredibly disappointing human.
notified of acceptance yesterday. will be attending.
congrats 👍
also, wtf? why is it that some of you guys are getting really pessimistic/cautious waitlist information from Irene, whereas whenever I talk to her, she is pretty darn ambiguous. What am I doing wrong!!!???
Maybe you're higher up on the waitlist than the rest of us, but she's being ambiguous because she can't guarantee that you'll get in?
I haven't spoke to Irene once about my previous waitlist status, but it sound like the ambiguity is a good thing. Think about it: she can't tell you that you are in a good spot until you have the acceptance letter in hand. If she told everyone with a decent shot that they had a decent shot, there would bound to be some upset people when they didn't get in. I would take it as a good sign, but not a guarantee. Like I said though I never knew my waitlist 'position'.at one point recently, she said i was around top 1/2. a few people on this thread (you, ncguy, chem, roanoake) seem to have been given a much more pessimistic waitlist status (i.e being told that it doesnt look too good) after being told your position (i.e top 1/2 or 1/3 as well). she was just straight up ambiguous with me when i spoke to her last friday. i dont get it!!!

Also, do we know how they draw from the waitlist? Are they looking for similarity to withdrawn applicant when choosing next accepted? Are they looking for something else all together? Are we all just numbered? These are all factors that should be taken into consideration when trying to interpret why she is being ambiguous. With all this speculation being stated, good luck. I had no clue my acceptance was coming when it did so keep up hope.
I just got the call today! I emailed them earlier this week about my position on the waitlist and they said I was in the "top third of the top third". I never called before about my position, so I have no idea where I was in May. If Wake is where you want to be, make sure you let them know! I sent 2 LOIs as well as called. Good Luck!
Also, this is my 2nd cycle of applying, so never give up even if you dont get accepted this year!

Just got an e-mail telling me that I have the top spot on the waitlist and to see if I'm still interested. I declined the position, although if it weren't for the fact that I bought a house in the city where I will be attending med school I would totally go to Wake.
Good luck to everyone!

So you were told you was at the top of the waitlist, or were you accepted today?
Congrats though!
When I was accepted, they called first. I was taking a nap so they left me a message. The message had the same flavor of "Just calling to see if you are still interested....". When I called back they told me I had been accepted.Sorry, should have clarified that a little better. In the morning I got an e-mail saying I was at the top of the waitlist and would be accepted next, should a spot become available. They wanted to know if I was still interested, maybe because I interviewed in November and only wrote a LOI right after I was waitlisted (nothing since, like some of the people on this thread say they have). I was at work all day and when I got off I had a voicemail saying I was accepted, they move quick. I e-mailed them back declining the position.
I did think it was weird that they e-mailed me wanting to know if I was interested before I was even accepted.
