What are the required courses for dartmouth? I can't find that stuff anywhere on the site. I'm assuming it's like most American med schools (I'm Canadian) so the problem is I only have is I only have half a semester of organic chem with lab. I'm wondering if I can supplement that second semester with biochem (without labs), or envirochem (without labs). If no one know does anyone know someone I can e-mail at the admissions office to ask about that?
From the MSAR:
Inorganic Chem 8 hrs
Biology 8 hrs
Calculus 3 hrs
Organic Chem 8 hrs
Physics 8 hrs
Thx a lot, and it didn't say anywhere on the MSAR that you can supplement it with something else eh? I'd buy my own MSAR but I am Canadian so I'm not all that sure U.S. schools is a good idea.
Nothing yet for me.
Me too!
For the "not addressed elsewhere" question...do you think they're looking for a motivation for medicine-type answer?

$130 Secondary Fee?! Wasn't it $85 last year?
Dumb question: does everyone get the secondary, or is it after the first round of screening?

I know, I was shocked too! I think this may be the most expensive secondary out there...👎
Is anyone else able to scroll down beyond the box limits? Or is that just google chrome messing around with the webpage?
Are ya'll focusing your second essay on just personal attributes, or how aspects about you are really great for Dartmouth specifically

I think I'm going to do the same thing. Shoulda finished darty earlier... the secondary is easy but I'm not gonna have it submitted till this afternoon.I threw in my diversity essay.
Yep. Figured it wasn't a bad idea, unless I'm less attractive than I think I am =PAre you guys submitting a photo?
Is it normal to get a secondary before even having AMCAs verify my transcript? It is so weird. I barely submitted and received the secondary automatically from Dartmouth. 🙁
Do you guys think it would be better to talk about a hobby such as playing an instrument for this essay or more along the lines of the research one has performed or why Dartmouth is the school for you? Thank you for your suggestions
Well...I'm assuming you mentioned research earlier in your app, either in activities or PS?
Though I'm sure you could go either way on this essay, I think it would be better to talk about playing the instrument. It'll help give the adcom a better picture of who you are and why you are unique. Many pre-meds have done research and incorporate it in their apps. Unless you're going for the MD/Ph.D., I would opt not to write about that.
So I'm writing the second essay about the role of athletics in my life and besides mentioning my participation in a club sport in college I was thinking about mentioning how I've lifted weights consistently for 5 years and how its a crucial stress reliever, etc.... what do you guys think should I include this? I don't want it to seem like I'm making something out of nothing but going to the gym has been part of my daily routine for so long it seems worth mentioning...
In my PS I mentioned distance running. In my opinion, stuff like sports and exercising has huge benefits not only physically but mentally/emotionally as well. Since it's a significant part of your life, I think you should talk about it, as long as you mention how it affects you beyond just getting in shape. It also adds detail about your personality beyond MCAT scores and GPA, which is always good.
