Well they're going to accept aprox 200 more in march, so lets keep out fingers crossed. As for rejected either they're not part of sdn or don't feel like posting here.

So I interviewed yesterday and I wanna first start off by saying that I fell in LOVE with the city of Boston. LOVED IT! However, the school failed to impress me. In my opinion, the school is NOT worth 67,000 a year. If you're paying that much money, you're paying for the name and reputation of BU. I understand that it is not a state funded institution and all that nonsense, which is all completely clear to me. However, if you've received a full scholarship at a not-so-big-named school versus BU, I highly recommend you go to the no-so-big-name...COMMON SENSE, I know.

The interview was a BREEZE and the people at the school are really nice. It just didn't really wow me over unfortunately.

Good luck to everyone!! :luck:

As most of us students at BU say, the biggest negative of the school is the cost. However, for the vast majority, I believe, the positives outweigh the negatives. However, if you didn't like the school, it's your personal opinion.

What do you like the most about BU?

Also how does the school prepare you for step I? is there free courses, etc...

From what I've seen, they are EXTREMELY systematic about Step I preparation. If I get my hands on their preparation schedule, I'll give it to you, but I saw it on my interview trip and boyyyyyyyyyyy was it thorough.

Hi everyone, congrats on the acceptances! I'll be seeing some of you there in the fall, too. I went to BU undergrad and then also went to BU's school of public health. It seems like I can never leave BU..😳 The MS1s have been really helpful (thank you!) but if you guys have questions re: Boston as a city or the undergrad part of BU, feel free to contact me.

anybody still haven't been invited for an interview but also haven't been rejected?

i declined my interview because they said they didnt have any other dates to reschedule me to. so theres at least 1 spot in Feb available.

So I guess you and I are one of few who will get silent rejections from BU? Anybody got rejection snail mail from BU but not email preinterview?

Interviewed @ BU this week. Amazingly organized! Extremely streamlined schedule, yet thorough presentations. Residency matches were emphasized during the presentation. BU seems committed to constant improvement in the curriculum for its medical students; I feel that this would be a great place to build a background for a competitive residency. Interviewer was extremely engaged in medicine and medical education. Met fantastic people throughout the day, extremely helpful students. The students seemed highly motivated and driven, but not cut-throat. Perfect blend. Also met very enthusiastic students. My tour guide: "I just have this need... to be super awesome =))!!!" (neat story ensued). How stellar is that =)?

Very positive impression =)!

Exactly the same impression i had last year on my interview day. Now i am first year, and i love it even more than i thought i would!

Just a quick question, did any of the guys who got accepted get a BackGround check email today? I got one and wondering whether it is for BU

I also got one today and I'm pretty sure it's for BU.

I think it is - I got one too, and it's my only acceptance so far. Plus someone on the UCLA thread who's into BU also got one.

I got an email today and was accepted, so its certainly possible.

If you've been accepted at BU, then the CBC e-mail you received today is almost certainly for BU.

Maja, since you've been accepted to a couple of CBC schools (congrats btw 🙂), do you know if you're sent a new request with each acceptance, even if you've already submitted/passed for the first school?

Thanks for the congrats, I feel incredibly lucky.

Regarding the CBC (from what I can tell so far), you only actually have to go on and enable schools to be able to view your CBC once (after the first school requests to view your CBC). After that, with each subsequent acceptance, you will receive a notification that a school is requesting to see your CBC, but they won't ask you to logon and enable the school to view it, as they already are able to.

This has been my experience. If anybody has had a different experience with subsequent CBC's, please let me know.

Hope that helps breeak.

Anyone else get a call from a current BU student to congratulate you/answer your questions? An M2 left me a really nice voicemail with her contact info if I have any unanswered questions. I give BU a 👍 for that!

BU is such a humanistic place! I think that they do a good job of choosing students who are friendly and interested in reaching out to others, so the call seemed in line with that (I got a call too and was told that they do that to make sure accepted students have an outlet to get Q's answered).

Yep, I got a call from a 4th year med student...I couldn't pick up the phone when she called, so she left a voicemail with her contact info. Seems like a really nice person. In general, I've been SO impressed with BU recently...they keep updating/e-mailing me with all kinds of useful info... Looks like their admissions process is very organized, and they know exactly what they are doing...I really like that. The only other school that keeps in touch is Jefferson...but I'd say BU is even more proactive. Keep up the good work, BU! 👍

I was so surprised about that! I got a call from 2 BU students, and one of them is actually from Miami, like me... so it's nice that we have that in common. They both gave me their e-mails so I can stay in contact with them to ask any questions whatsoever. I love BU!! 🙂

👍👍 for BU!

has anyone recently received interview invites? still trying to grab a sliver of hope left.

I just sent in a letter of update/interest to BU at 9:00 this morning and they sent me an interview invite at 3:00pm for this Wednesday (the 4th). I called to see if there were any openings later (given the late notice and my being in North Carolina) and the woman said that I lucked out and it was literally the only time I could interview. Sorry for the bad news to any hopefuls but I know for my other schools I would rather know that all the interviews have been sent out than waiting to hear on less and less hope. Anyone that is interviewing Wednesday see you there!! 😀

Wow, congrat!!! Make us proud on Wed!

The woman told me the last day of interviews is Wed, Feb 11.

The admission committee is meeting March 4th and there should be a final decision for all those who are waiting sometime thereafter.

This was asked in the allo class threads, but is there a facebook group? If not, does anyone want me to create one? PM me and we'll go from there 😀

wait im pretty sure dean w said letters would be sent out the 24th of march...

are u sure? i tried to find the information but i guess i was too tired that afternoon so i didn't note down what dean W said.. oh man, he just wouldn't stop talking😛

Anyone know what forms we need to fill out for financial aid? I know they require some additional ones other than the FAFSA but I'm not sure which.

Thanks Linguini! I looked everywhere for that and I couldn't find it.

Does anyone know when the March acceptances were sent out last year? I know the dean said mid-March but if interviews were over last week I was hoping it was actually sooner?

I know precisely. I was called by my interviewer at about 6:00 pm on March 26th. (I had been deferred in january.)

Some people heard on the 25th and some a tad later.

But i think they were earlier this year with their january decisions. so maybe the march decisions will also be earlier.

so since BU has completed interviews as of last friday, should i assume rejection if my status says "under review" and I haven't received an invitation?

just wondering...😕

any news for anyone? or when decisions come out/?

The adcom started making decisions about the rest of (or most of them) the apps today. Decisions should be forthcoming fairly soon.

Take my word for it.

(why would I lie to you?)

mmm what does fairly soon imply

hehe, I usually do not take other people's words. just wondering where you learned this since Dr. Witzburg said we would hear at the end of march when i interviewed in feb.

were you referring to pre-interview?

Ampersand is correct. I know someone on adcom (my adviser) and they met yesterday to decide on people who interviewed this cycle and ones who were deferred last cycle. We should hear back before the end of march. Good luck to all.

Thanks to both of you for sharing this info. Do you know if they have gone through everyone yet? Would they have gotten up to, say, the Feb 6 interview dates? 😉

I'm not sure if they have yet. What I understand from it, is that they will make decisions about all applications perhaps even by the end of this week. Acceptances will go out, rejections will go out. In a couple of weeks they'll hear back from people who are rejecting them. Then, they'll go to their first waitlist. After that, the second one.
