Interesting, are you PST?

... My first was 1:48am EST, and mostly on a 30min schedule, but def not all, some only 10 min apart, others an hour.

Nope, definitely none in my spam filter either. Maybe it's because I updated my contact info after the email a few weeks ago. Oh well, guess I should be happy I'm not being bombarded!

I haven't either, besides a one about 2 weeks ago. I never received any other contact from BU after completion before my interview invite either.
 
I only got one e-mail, post-invite. Cancelled my interview and withdrew last week though...haha now I feel like I'm missing out on something special.
 
I've received 65 emails about updating my information! Also roughly 30 min apart but some are only a few minutes apart.

Maybe I should "update" my info as well! I didn't get one at the 30 min mark...maybe they've stopped!!

I tried that too, but it didn't work. I finally sent an email to Dr. Witzburg about the situation, and he turned off the mailing system, so there should definitely be no more emails. Woo hoo! 🙂

Ditto. Just cancelled my interview, so there's a spot for someone 1/16.

Does anyone else but me find it odd that several people insist on cluttering this thread with posts about how they are not applying to BU?

Odd, not to mention annoying. You are welcome to visit and read if you find the thread interesting, but please do not post your random, self-serving jibberish.

I am an M1 at BU, and I am happy to try to help with info, if I can.

Well, a more charitable interpretation of JGs post was to let people know there's still hope of getting an interview invite since there's a new spot open now. :shrug:

Thanks for the offer of info 🙂 I'm sure you will be deluged after the first round of acceptances goes out. 🙂

Good luck BU hopefuls!! I guess you will hear in 7-10 days?

My break is over and I return to the second half of the neuroscience block, so my SDN time is over for now. (total firehose of stuff to learn in 3 weeks.)

BUT remember, a very large part of the class is made up of people who were deferred in January and accepted in March, myself included. BU does not accept very many people in January. So do not despair.

You shouldn't assume that. They continue interviewing into January and February, and in fact only a few people will be getting acceptances next month. Most decisions are deferred until they've finished interviewing in March. So don't lose hope yet!

I heard BU only interviews until Feb. Is that true?
 
I just got an acceptance phone call from Dr. Sprinz (my interviewer)! I'm so excited! I interviewed in mid October. Good luck, everybody!

Congrats on the first acceptance here and good luck to everyone waiting to hear. Please remember that if you get deferred to the March decisions, that is the usual case for people who interview in the first round. Very few peple (around 60, I think) are accepted in the first round.

If you guys have any questions about BU as you try to make your choice, feel free to ask me here or to PM me.

I was accepted today via phone call from my interviewer but did not get any oops emails. This probably doesnt' mean anything though

I got in today too! Got my call around 4:15pm West Coast time. I also did not receive all those emails the other day. Good luck to you all.

Well I got all the emails so I hope that it was just coincidence :scared: Although, I didn't get a phone call either so I'm guessing it might be 🙁

Mine has not changed yet.
 
I think it usually takes a few days for the status page to change.
 
Hey dudes -

I'm pretty sure the spam emails were not correlated to the decisions that were made. For one, we've already seen that both people who were accepted and people who have no news were not spammed. For another, the apology email that was sent out recently said that nearly 200 people received the emails, a number that makes little sense if it was related to application status (~60 people accepted, a few more rejected, most deferred, where I'm assuming at least 600 of the ~1000 interviews have happened).

In other news, these have all been calls from interviewers, not the Dean, right? Maybe these interviewers were just nice enough to call their interviewees, and many more will receive their good news closer to the given date of Jan. 12th. (I can always hope, right? 😛)

Anyway, good luck to all of us who are still waiting to hear, and congrats to those who have been accepted!

So I took a look at the boston thread from last year and it seems people continued to get calls from interviewers for 2 days or so. There is still hope! Some never got calls and just got an email as well.

Congrats to you guys who got in so far! :claps:

A part of me really wishes they wouldn't do these early admissions things though...I was all prepared to wait patiently until next Monday without freaking out, and now I'm going to spend all day on tenterhooks. Oh well, it's the life of a med school applicant. 🙂

Nina: I got a ton of spam and a call with good news tonight. The two are unrelated, and the calls seem to go out for a few days. Doctors are super busy, and there is no way BU could coordinate having all doctors call on one or even two days. Also, some people apparently get in without a call.

Thanks Jacqui! Hopefully you're right about calls going for a few days. I thought my interview went really well and I didn't get a phone call so I'm bummed. But Congratulations to all of you who heard!! 🙂
 
For those accepted:

Did you guys call your interviewers to thank them?

My interviewer left me two voicemails today congratulating me on acceptance and asking to call with any questions at his office and cell phone numbers...I feel like he really wanted to talk to me personally...but I missed both calls 🙁 I'm not sure if it's a good idea to call him, what if he is busy...or maybe I should just e-mail him... what do you think?
 
got the call today! yayy, so exciting. violet7 - i think you only need to call if you actually have a question. or you could send a quick email thank you if you'd like.

congrats, dixieflower!!!! :luck: yeah, i was going to e-mail him, but i was surprized that he called twice, and then my research professor asked me if i called back my interviewer... for some reason i feel bad for not calling him...
