How much does it matter if you are over on the essay limit? I am about 200-400 characters over on every essay. There's no real way for me to shorten it. Big deal or will I be rejected for not following their request?
You need to shorten it so that it will fit within the limits. Any time you're in doubt about something like this, think about what would happen if everyone did what you're doing. The adcomms would go freaking crazy.

Wow CCLCM invite! I was complete 8/8 so there is hope for those of you who haven't heard anything for a while. Though I still have no news from the University Program...
Amazing!! I got a joint e-mail for both a CCLCM and Case Western Interview! 😱 Ohio, here we come!
Me too!! I was beginning to think they had forgotten about me! 😀
Congrats, everyone!

When do Case/CCLCM start sending acceptances?
For CCLCM, things are going to be done differently this year. Instead of continuously rolling acceptances, there are going to be two acceptance dates. The first is in early December, and then there will be a second one at the end of February. Those of you who interview from now through November will be considered for a December acceptance. If you don't get in then, you will stay in the pool for a February acceptance. Those of you who interview from December through February will be considered for a February acceptance. This change was made so that there will still be seats available for the people who interview later in the season.

Wow...are those all the CCLCM invites they have left? :scared:
No, we interview all the way through February. It's way too soon to worry. 🙂

Does Case have interview dates in Oct/Nov for people who don't care about having CCLCM interview on a separate time period?

Aahhh I'm worried about having applied to CCLCM, b/c that's delaying the Case app. decision =(
If you don't care about coordinating your interviews, you can probably do both of them earlier. You'll just have to come out to Cleveland twice, that's all.

Am I the only person who has gotten a CCLCM interview but nothing from the University Program... 😕
No. You're just the only one who's posting here, I guess. 🙂

Just a question..

It seems like Case (university program) sends out a LOT of invites.. is it a very low acceptance rate after the interview? Or is it just a very popular school on SDN?

Hm..it just seems that way 🙂

Case is actually somewhat selective (though not as much as say, maybe Wake, who only interviews 540/7000 or some crazy number). I dont remember the exact figures, but I think Case interviews about 9-11% of applicants and accepts half of that. They do like to highlight, however, that 95-96% of the people that interview at Case get in *somewhere*.

YaY, I received an interview invite at case and cleaveland clinic!!! So excited...

😀

I'm sure it's partly because Case is a popular school. But I think it's a selection bias too. People who get invites or acceptances are naturally excited about it and want to post, while people who get holds or rejections aren't as likely to post. It's sort of like if you read the MCAT forum, you'd get the impression that everyone has a 35+. You just don't see too many people with <25 posting all over about it, even though statistically, half of all the people who take the MCAT do score <25.

Congrats!

I have a few questions

1) Is there any data about the acceptance/interview ratio for CCLCM? Even with an interview, I would imagine a pretty low chance of acceptance since they only accept 32 students.

2) I want to take a flight out after my case interview day departing at 5:25pm as it is the last one going home that day from cleavland, is it
possible? The University interview day ends at 3:15pm (I believe). I dont know how long it takes to get to the airport but it is 15.9 miles (21 minutes) according to google maps. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

My student host estimated half an hour via public transportation. Maybe a bit less if you're taking a cab...but not sure on this because of traffic hour.

Did anyone else who interviewed at Case in September receive the CBC email? What do you think it means?? 😱

Still no news from Case .. nooo

There's a pretty good diagram showing the interview/acceptance/matriculation ratios for all three programs on the 2nd slide of the PowerPoint.

Wow, awesome link, thank you so much! Much higher acceptance percentages than I expected! 26% is awesome for CCLCM, I thought nearly everyone who received a case interview also received a CCLCM interview, apparently not. YAY, I have a chance! :hardy:

Hey cheasus, when were you complete and when did you get your case/cclcm invites? Just curious, thanks! 😛

Did anyone else who interviewed at Case in September receive the CBC email? What do you think it means?? 😱

Yeah, I got the email, and it's so hard trying to think about what it means. I'm guessing it's either 'waitlist' or the other thing for me (a*cept is just too much to imagine right now). But again, I think I'm just being optimistic.

Aargh, it's so hard thinking about this right now, wish I could just call Christian. Anyway, I'm going back to studying.

I was complete 9/3, applying to both Case and CCLCM, yet I haven't heard anything from them yet, except a "thanks" for sending them a new publication to add to my file.

Congrats!

outstanding observation regarding mcat scores, interviews, and announcement thereof (not being sarcastic)

i just submitted my app. Any ideas on how long interviews extend for the University Program? Is it also thru February?

i was complete on august 29 and just got invited for interviews there!
totally unexpected because i had given up hopes of hearing back from these schools!
so be patient guys! 😀

btw, does anyone know if cleveland/case have rolling admisisons?
thnx much!

first interview invite! yay!!!!

i'm so excited! Scheduled for Dec 1st.

((FYI on the online calendar a lot of dates seem to be available for December that haven't been filled yet))

**Complete Sept 16th.

**Found out today. Oct 7th. So about 3 weeks.

Good luck to my fellow SDN'ers.

Complete mid August

Invite today

Complete around the 23rd of August... but I sent them the wrong letters (just the letter covers!) so I had to resend those a couple weeks ago.

I'm interviewing on December 1st as well, see you there.

Complete 9/10, Interview invite 10/7, Interview 12/2.

This is my first interview. I feel legitimate or something now.

My secondary for Case had been done for a while. My letters just got submitted to VirtualEvals on 9/18. Last time I checked my status page at Case, which was about three days ago (10/5 ish), my letters were listed as "auto", thus my application was not complete.

Just got an email saying my status has changed. w00t interview!

I'd say pretty fast turnaround.

How common is it to just get a CCLCM interview? Does this mean that I will not get a University Program interview too?

Sounds like if you are getting both, they will come at the same time.. Someone above said they just got CC though, so it can't be too uncommon.

Are you wondering what happens if you are rejected from the UP but not the CCLCM?

I would wonder the same thing, but I would assume that if one receives no UP interview, one is not in the CCLCM running, since the CCLCM is a partnership between the UP and Cleveland Clinic.

Anyone else know about this?

Clearly there seem to be a number of UP interviews that go to those that applied to both CCLCM and UP, but the other way around (getting a CCLCM interview following a UP rejection) is not something I know about.

As far as I know the University Program is separate from the College Program (CCLCM). You get reviewed separately for both, can be interviewed for both, one, or none, and can get accepted to both, then just choose which you want (if you're fortunate enough to have a choice). Now I just wish I'd hear something from them - getting sick of waiting.

Not necessarily. You might be on hold with the UP and get an interview later. Check your status online or call their office.

No, that's not how it works. I have several classmates who were interviewed and accepted to CCLCM but rejected by the UP post-secondary or post-interview. See post below.

This is right. If you've applied to both programs, it's almost like you're applying to two separate schools, although the adcomms talk to each other and Case approves the CCLCM acceptees. Good luck, tbucky, I hope you hear back soon!

I'm interviewing on December 1st, so I won't be considered for the first round of admissions? Awww... so close... I wonder if I should just go early for CCLCM interview alone? Do you think it would be worth it?

On another topic, doesn't it seem like CCLCM is interviewing a lot of students for 32 spots this year? Do most people with Case interview's also receive CCLCM interviews? I get the feeling that a very small percent of CCLCM interviewees will be accepted.

Most people that applied to Case did not apply to CCLCM. Note around 5.5k UP applicants and 1.2k college applicants. I'd imagine this would increase greatly this year due to the lack of tuition though.

You have to specifically apply to each program, so most people that receive a UP interview do not receive a college interview since most didn't apply.

CCLCM does their own interview/admissions process, so it is common to get interview at just one of the two schools. The applications are reviewed by different people.

Also note that UP program takes in about 160 kids vs Clinic's 36. Naturally more people are going to be interviewed for the UP program, but it's still not unusual for someone to be interviewed for CCLCM but not UP.

I don't know when the exact cutoff is to be considered for the December acceptances. The adcomm meeting to select the first round of acceptances will be on December 2. So it's possible that you might get considered at that meeting with a December 1 interview, but I really don't know. I can tell you that in the past, CCLCM has had adcomm meetings every other Thursday. The people who interviewed on one of the Thursdays when the adcomm met got their apps reviewed the same day of their interview while they were downstairs hearing the financial aid talk! If that practice continues, you really might come up for review on the 2nd. But I can't make any promises. Maybe ask at your interview day.

In case anyone else is burning to know, the second adcomm meeting to select the February acceptees will be held on February 17.

On another topic, doesn't it seem like CCLCM is interviewing a lot of students for 32 spots this year?
No, we interviewed about 250 students last year, and we'll be interviewing around the same number this year. So there are more apps coming in, but no change in the number of interviews offered. The good thing is that if you get invited to the interview, you've already made it through the biggest cut. Last year there were about 1400 completed apps. No one really knows how many there will be this year. The number of apps has been rising every year since the school started, and there may be a bigger jump this year because of the free tuition and because the first class is graduating and we will now have a CCLCM match list.

Do most people with Case interview's also receive CCLCM interviews?
The adcomms at the two programs are quasi-independent. They talk to each other, but they don't necessarily choose to invite the same students. So for those people who apply to both programs, some get invited to both, some get invited to CCLCM but not the UP, and some get invited to the UP and not to CCLCM. Whether you applied to the UP or not has no bearing on whether you'll be invited to interview by CCLCM (or vice versa). Since the UP doesn't have a research requirement like CCLCM does, the applicant populations overlap some, but not all the way. (It's like one of those Venn diagrams. 😛 )

I get the feeling that a very small percent of CCLCM interviewees will be accepted.
I can't tell you if fewer people will be accepted or not post-interview. There will be 32 people selected initially in Dec. and Feb. like I explained above, and then more people will get selected as spots open up due to withdrawals. In other words, CCLCM will not be over-accepting like many schools do. The problem is that there is no way to gauge how many withdrawals we are going to have, and there really isn't room for a 33rd student, let alone more, if the adcomm guesses wrong about how many will withdraw!

Good luck with your apps and interviews. 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to write thorough responses. I will call the admissions staff to find out when the cut off is to be considered for the first round of admissions. I would definitely fly out earlier out of my own pocket to get a better chance of admissions at this school.

Wow, this waiting is driving me crazy...so I just called Ellen hoping she'd give me a little hint w/o expressly asking for it, and well, that didn't work.

She did say though that acceptances are sent out on the 15th *and* the 16th, since she has to enter in two sets of adcom decisions. So I guess it makes things a little easier as it could mean a 2 day wait vs a 3 day one. (though if I dont hear anything on the 15th, of course I'll be freaking out)

Anyone else getting anxious?

P.S...Holly, if you see me on, could you shoot a pm my way? wanted to ask you something.

good luck priam18! hehe be patient, it's just two more days of waiting!

Well... good luck to everyone who's waiting for a decision tomorrow and Thursday. Case would be an amazing school to get in to, especially on the first day!

At least we know their status doesn't update until late evening and don't have to constantly check all day (Although I'm sure I probably will anyways)!

I can access the financial aid/laptop tab on iapply...is that normal?

😱um...

I can access the financial aid/laptop tab on iapply...is that normal?

i think it's normal. I don't think that necessarily means an acceptance. I can as well, but then again, I'm not sure whether I was able to before oct. 15th.

I think access was always there, but I don't think any of us was truly interested until now.

I don't believe I see the financial aid/laptop tab on my status... Is it supposed to be to the right of payment?

yes. It shows up right next to payment and right below the iApply title on the Case banner

Nope, don't have it either. Last years' thread mentioned it showed up earlier on the day they got acceptances... so it sounds like good news 🙂
