I also interviewed on Oct 3rd and I have received no emails. I guess we can just hope that they are entering in our group tomorrow and that we haven't been officially accepted or rejected yet. A earlier post seemed to suggest they had so many to enter that the 15th and the 16th would have adcom decisions entered.

Here's hoping.

I got a hold as well... I'm curious if they gave any rejections.

hold as well...

so it looks like there is a hold category...and then an alternate list...and then a possible acceptance.

does anyone know the numbers..i.e. how many people/% of people go on hold/alternate

any info helps - thank you!

Looks like I'm another "hold"....just curious, but does anyone know what percentage of the class is accepted off of hold/waitlist?

I got accepted!

I am ridiculously excited!

ok new question..

to all those who have financial aid/laptop do you also have CBC emails

to all those who have CBC emails, do you have financial aids/laptop?

to those who have both..did you receive the email like last week or so?

the reason I ask was that I stopped by the admissions office on Tuesday and one of the secretaries said she had over 200 applications to enter today.

So maybe the people who were already entered at some point have the signs of acceptance while the newly entered people caught the tail end of a computer glitch or something...

i dunno just trying to stay optimistic/figure things out.

regardless, I have a test tomorrow in med school (all the UG biochem classes are in the same building as the admissions office) so I will stop by and see what's up. Although I am sure you guys will have the phones ringing before I get there.

200 acceptances??? That seems like a LOT for the first batch, especially when there are only 300 and something given out total? Doesn't leave a lot of hope for people interviewing later!

So for the people who got accepted, did you 1.) receive the CBC email and 2.) see the financial aid/laptop tab before receiving the acceptance?

I did NOT get a CBC e-mail. I did, however, see the financial aid / laptop tabs.

Thanks, good to know. 🙂 I'm curious if they've decided on applicants who interviewed in October. So far everyone who's gotten a response seems to have interviewed in September.

okay.. congrats to those who received acceptance!

Hm.. anyway, is it too late it I havn't even completed the secondary yet?

i am on hold too. its not fair. i am clearly the most qualified. I can see the med school from my house. 🙄

Lol, I wonder if anyone got rejected and if we're ranked on the waitlist.

Based off last year's mdapps and some old threads it looks like very few people get off the hold list and pretty much no one gets rejected till later in the cycle. Most likely we will end up being put on the alternate list around march and then being rejected later on unless we are fortunate enough to take someone's spot that withdraws.

yayness! my status page finally updated :hardy::hardy::hardy:

FINALLY!

Interview early September, CBC email last week, laptop and finaid tab last night, acceptance this morning!

hold 🙁🙁🙁

Did anyone get anything other than a hold or acceptance (WL or rejection?). I'm trying to figure out if this hold is any better than a rejection.

Hey Isis, there is no waitlist until spring when they may or may not place you on the alternate list. I just called Ellen and she said that they won't look at the "hold" applications again until late winter early spring. Basically they want to interview everyone first before they start looking at the hold people. But again, from the looks of it last year it doesn't seem likely to get off the hold list.

Does that mean that everyone who doesn't get accepted is put on the waitlist? Do you know how many people usually get off the waitlist? I think I might call....thanks for the info though

I didn't ask her anything about rejections. I'm assuming that they do give out a few but I'm not sure. I talked to a Case M1 and he told me that they put a lot of people on hold. Between late winter and May 1st you will be reevaluated and given a chance to be accepted. If by then you aren't then they may either reject, accept, or place you on the alternate list. Once on the alternate list you can just hope that people withdraw and that you will slide into their spot.

I have my interview tomorrow... flying out this evening...

AND I AM SO NERVOUS!

Anyone know what the weather's like or how much of the tour will be outdoors? Should I be prepared to be cold? Someone told me to take an umbrella.

:scared:

I called Ellen today (12:15 PDT) and she told me that those who interviewed on Oct 3 still have not been reviewed. Their Ad Com is meeting on Monday to review those files and that we would know by the end of next week.

I'm just speculating, but I think the people who interviewed the week of Oct 10 might not know their status until two weeks from now. Not sure how fast their Ad Com goes through files.

Wow, to think of all the hours I could have saved if I would have just called. Heh.

OMG SDN is magic! Just got my CCLCM/UP invite! *dies* 😱

Submitted Sept. 18th, complete Sept. 24th...
Congrats. 🙂

Grr this is annoying. By the way, CCLCM decisions don't come out for awhile right? Like December? Or am I making that up? I very well could be.
No, you're right. I posted about this a few pages back. See below.

For CCLCM, things are going to be done differently this year. Instead of continuously rolling acceptances, there are going to be two acceptance dates. The first is in early December, and then there will be a second one at the end of February. Those of you who interview from now through November will be considered for a December acceptance. If you don't get in then, you will stay in the pool for a February acceptance. Those of you who interview from December through February will be considered for a February acceptance. This change was made so that there will still be seats available for the people who interview later in the season.
The actual dates of the adcomm meetings are Dec. 2 and Feb. 17. There will be 16 people accepted at the first meeting and then at least 16 more at the second meeting.

Congrats to everyone who just got UP acceptances. I hope you can all come to the second look weekend!

Hi,

For those of us interviewing on Dec 1st/Dec 2nd, I emailed a few students on the student host list. But it seems like some of the students are going to be flying to their hometowns for Thanksgiving weekend. I was wondering if any of you had any luck finding a host?

If you don't find one either, would you consider splitting hotel/motel costs. I'm coming from Cleveland airport. It would be nice to have a new friend in a new (cold) city.

Michael

wow. only 16 students accepted on december?! roughly it seems like 1 acceptance out of 10 students interviewed. that's tough!

Anyone know the schedule of the University Program ADCOM meetings? I'm on hold and I am wondering when I might be able to hear next. BTW, I hope a hold does not equal rejection at Case

Yeah, most people won't get accepted right away. The adcomm wants to avoid overaccepting since there's no way to know how many people will withdraw, and they want to save half the seats for people who interview later in the season. But probably more than 16 people will get accepted in the spring, so don't give up hope if you're an early interviewee and you don't get one of the first batch of acceptances.

I don't know the UP adcomm schedule, but I can tell you that being on hold is not the same thing as being rejected for either Case program. Hold means that your app is being set aside for later consideration and no decision has been made yet.

Every year people ask what the different statuses mean, so maybe this is a good time to go over them.
  • Accept-obvious what this means
  • Hold-can be pre-interview or post-interview. The adcomm may decide to invite or accept you later, but they're holding off making a decision about your app for now. It's kind of sucky to be in limbo for months, but a hold is NOT a rejection and it's also not a waitlist. If you're on hold, they just haven't decided what to do with you yet. Some people on hold post-interview will wind up getting waitlisted or accepted later.
  • Waitlist-this is a category that gets made in the spring for people who are alternatives if seats open up before classes start in July.
  • Rejection-obvious what this means

Anyone know when the next batch is going out for case? I interviewed in earlier October and am waiting to hear back. Thanks.

I think they meet on the 2nd and 4th week of each month?
Is that just my imagination?

Judging from last year's thread, the Oct 15th batch went out and then another batch went out the next Thursday (Oct. 24th?) which would have been the 4th Thursday of the month, so the 2nd and 4th Thursday theory sounds about right.

I interviewed Oct 7 and they said decisions on our files would be made Oct 20 (yesterday). So, I assume they have now made decisions, and we only need wait til sometime soon when they update our page!

Someone earlier in the thread (post 378) also said they met on Mondays. Either way, I hope we hear back soon. I can't stand this wait..

Ah now I see that.. perhaps they meet on Monday and iApply is updated on Thursdays?? Ah! I just want to know!

At my interview on the 17th, Christian said they would meet about our batch on Nov. 4th (but he might have meant Monday, the 3rd) and that we would know (through iApply) a week or two after that.

I'm pretty sure that Case roughly accepts twice as many as their matricualting class. However, a good portion of those acceptances are later, when they start getting rejections from students.

I got accepted, interviewed at the very beginning, the first couple weeks I think. My life is too much of a blur to recall the date.... I was the steak eating contest guy if anyone was in my group 🙂

Does anyone know if everyone is invited to participate in the application for merit scholarships. If not, does anyone know how many people are?

Nice guys.. with the acceptances!
Interview's in December. I feel like applying to the Clinic delayed app decision. Is it safe to assume that most people who've interviewed already applied only to Case and not the Clinic?

Hey,
I'll love to know that too. I got accepted and got the email to apply too.
I wonder how/when we can apply for the other scholarships. Anyone know??
And has anyone gotten the package in the mail thats supposed to arrive soon? I havent recieved mine yet...

Man, to go to Case would be oh so AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

found out that i got in this afternoon! so so excited!! i interviewed october 6. just wanted to let people know who interviewed around the same time because i still haven't received an email. i just checked iapply (need to seriously stop checking status pages every 2 minutes 😉). also i don't have any financial aid or laptop tabs on my status page for anybody else who's been neurotically checking for them. i did however receive the letter about merit scholarships so i guess i can't help us figure out whether everyone receives it or not.

congratulations to everyone who has gotten in!! and good luck to everyone who's still waiting!

Yep.. IApply is updated.. I interviewed 10/15 and am now on hold. Bummer... :/ I really liked Case

Not necessarily. When I interviewed, there were 3 people who were also interviewing at CCLCM. I also applied to Cleveland Clinic, but split the interviews into different weeks because I live reasonably close, and it allowed me to interview earlier at each.

I too interviewed 10/6 and was accepted this afternoon.

Does anybody know financial aid offers given out?
