I interviewed in early September, so does that mean its going to b the end of October before I hear anything? I figured I would call the 15, but they havent even voted on me yet?

No, Im sure they have already voted on you, but they will not tell you the decision before Oct. 15th. My guess is that you will find out this week.

:scared:. I should get a call tomorrow if I'm accepted. Otherwise, I am not accepted or on the waitlist (according to what they said at my interview--first week in Sept). Yikes, my first decision!

I'm not sure what just happened @ Creighton.

But I am pretty sure it was awesome.

Hayride. Kegs. Two hundred Creighton Medical students.

FTW.

It has been relatively quiet on the Creighton front for interview invites lately....anyone get invites lately?

so everyone who has had an interview at Creighton just before the 15th and therefore hasnt heard back yet....what day of the week do you think they will let people know of acceptances from here on out? Fri or Mon? At my interview, they said sometime around the 24th or 27th....im really freaking out

I was interviewed on October 3rd and heard back on the 16th. So it should be roughly two weeks for you. I had to call in to find out though...because I was put on the alternate list.

yeah...i think two weeks is the amount of time they need. Because the 24th is the Friday at the end of the week and the 27th is the Monday of the following week. That is when they will be sending out their letters.
I am sure we can call them up and possibly ask for admission status on Friday...although just the thought of that makes me squirm lol

I know man, Im really happy that they tells us fairly soon, but its bittersweet, b/c we could also find out bad news pretty soon :scared:. I just gotta keep reassuring myself that in the end something will work out...even if its not on my timetable or where I think I should go.

They said they do call if accepted at my interview day. They didn't say which day I could expect though. Now I am all nervous too! Of course, I just got back.

hey droshan,

did you try to call them and see specifically why you were waitlisted? Your stats are solid, so I bet there is some little aspect to your app. that they view as important at Creighton....they told us they were pretty transparent about that kinda stuff and may even work with you to give you an acceptance if its something you can remedy by May.

Just speculation, but creighton routinely waitlists people who don't have non-medical service. This is kinda silly if you ask me, but true. If you call them, they will tell you specifically what you need to do to get accepted.

I just sent them an email asking about decision notifications and whatnot.
I will be sure to spread the word as soon as I hear it myself.
this mainly applies to rockydoc and i though. 🙂

where did you hear this? that's pretty interesting. How much non-medical service do you think is required?

I know a few people who were waitlisted and this was the reason given. Also, one of the faculty at my CU interview mentioned it (albeit, briefly). As far as how much, I don't think a lot is needed. I don't have alot and was accepted.

I have one (maybe two depending on what they count) non-medical volunteer experiences that werent especially long. Hopefully that does something.

Thats more than I have, I'm sure you will be fine.

Hey Rocky, thanks buddy. To be honest I was shocked that I was put on the waitlist...I do have a fair amount of non medical volunteering and (atleast I thought) my interview went great. Maybe I didn't have enough or maybe my interview wasn't as good as I thought. I'll find out soon though...they take calls for that on Thursdays only so I haven't had an opportunity to talk to Dr.Nipper since I found out yet. I'm sure you guys will get in, best of luck to you.

Thanks, I really have a feeling that either way, all of us are gonna be in some med school somewhere next fall. good luck to you too.

maybe sometimes schools put students on waitlists if they think they will get in somewhere else anyways. i mean, if i were an adcom and your application came along, id have to wonder if i were a backup to someone else. So unless that area was addressed in the interview or secondaries...then I have no idea why you would be waitlisted!?

I appreciate it buddy, you guess is as good as mine. But Decicco got in and he's got better numbers than I. Who knows, I was and still am bummed about it. I got a feeling you got in with your stats and ECs.

Is anyone interviewing at Creighton this Friday? I'm incredibly nervous. It's my first (and so far only) interview of the season. I'd really love to go to creighton and hope I rock my interview.

Oh! and does anyone know how much the interview counts for. I know no one will have an exact figure but I'm wondering if I've made it past the "numbers game" and if the interview will be the major deciding factor for creighton from this point.

Thanks!

That is the impression I got. However, your whole application is given a metric by the committee and based on that metric you either get in or wait listed. But you interview is a major component. Good luck. It is a very positive experience.

And Omaha is at least 1000x cooler than I thought it would be.

When I interviewed at Creighton, it was my first one also, and I was very nervous the night before. But believe me, by the time you get to the actual interviews (which are after a couple of meetings) you will be completely stress free. They really do a great job of destressing everyone and keeping it laid back. I think they take pride in it b/c I was probably ask by 5 different Creighton admissions people or students throughout the day whether or not my interviewers made the interview pleasant. You'll feel great!

and on this note about interview stress;
i always make an effort to take the focus off of me and instead spend my time talking with other people and applicants. Everybody is in the same situation so it makes it easier than normal to connect with the 'stranger' sitting with at the table.
I like to think that because of this, i walked away from my experience at creighton with a few more friends than i had going into omaha.

take home message: To deter bouts of nerves, be social and make new friends.

I second that!

I do that too!!! It makes the interview day so much more pleasant and makes you less stressed! Btw, I should hear back from Creighton in about 8 days.

I just got the email reply:

No decision has been made on my application yet. The adcom will have a decision by next week and I should expect a phone call first, then a letter. Feel free to call the office but a decision won't be available til the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

so there ya go! our statuses (stati??) are still pending!

omg berken, did you interview on the 17th? i was there too... i keep thinking perhaps we may have bumped into each other without realizing it lol.

Hey guys!

Thanks so much for the words of advice and encouragement. I've heard great things about creighton and am super excited to see it for myself!

I'll be there Friday as well. I've been looking forward to visiting Creighton ever since I did my preliminary research on schools when I was trying to decide on where to apply. Wow, that seems like ages ago.

Anyhow, don't get too stressed about the interviews. Try to have fun and as the old adage goes, "be yourself".

Oh, and get some sleep the night before. I heard that they automatically reject applicants with dark baggy circles under their eyes.

oh man, 3 to 6 days!! I wish they would narrow it down for us....Fri or Mon? which is it! im going crazy.

I found out I am on the alternate list today, via an email response. I will call up and find out why. Interviewed on 9/19.

just cuz im not sure if anyone else felt the way i did...but i dont read heights in the metric system (porque soy americano) and i have to convert:

2m = 200cm x 1in/2.54cm = 78.7 inches = 6'7" daaang they are going to recruit you onto their athletic teams too!

When we did the introductions, that was my "interesting fact" about myself. Who was everyone else?

I want them to give out more interviews. and one of them should be to meeeee.

Did anyone else from the 17th here go on the hayrack ride? That was the best fun I've had in years.

no, i was there the week before that...but I heard students talking about it....sounded like it would have been a blast...I've spent the last 3 years in FL and really miss seasonal activities like that.

Hey all...just nosing around the site and wanted to wish everyone the best of luck on their upcoming interviews (if ya got any questions about the school or the area, shoot me a PM). Also, I saw that several people have already been accepted, so much congrats there. For all those who've been waitlisted, let me know so I can go find Nipper and military press his ass...should speed up his decision, haha. Anyway, take care and again best of luck.
