Not sure if it's a majority (meaning >50%), but the impression I got from the interview/admissions time line is that there is a substantial group of people who are accepted once they are done interviewing everybody.

Well... the facebook group only has 14 members, and mdapps only lists 19 accepted profiles.. so even if you assume that 3 times that many have been accepted, there's still many spots left to give out now that interview season is over. :luck::luck: everyone!

I got this impression too. In fact, they pretty much flat out told us not to worry about not hearing anything back on the mailing dates before March because they give out most of their acceptances then.

I'm hoping for some good news next week!

I also got the impression, but man, it's hard waiting to hear back from them.

I'm hoping to see an acceptance as well.

Waiting is really hard. I keep wondering if I should try to email an update but I'm having trouble writing one and it's getting kind of late in the game to send one.

I wasn't expecting to love Emory as much as I did, but it's really such an awesome school.

I actually just wrote Emory an email this past weekend. Since they are reviewing applications one last time, I wanted to add something fresh to my application. If nothing else it just shows the admissions office that you're still interested.

I always had Emory near the top of my list, but the interview impressed me more than the other schools I interviewed at. I loved it there.

I remember Erica saying that, while they didn't want thank you cards, they did like hearing from people who were sincerely interested in Emory. It certainly couldn't hurt to write something if you can. I sent something at the beginning of February, and it worked for me. :luck:

I was going to add that also. Those of you who are interested (LET!) Then let them know sincerely. I did this and I think it helped, since I was definitely below average for the school. Good luck everyone!!

Okay! Sending something today! Should I put it in the body of the email or send it as an attachment?

I attached a Word document but its your call. an attachment is more aesthetically pleasing

Sent it as an attachment yesterday. 🙂 After fighting with gmail's new attachment system and finally giving up and switching to basic html view...

Thanks guys!

So March 10 is the big day that Emory said they would have decisions sent out by.

Does anyone have a good estimate of when they think the decision letters will actually arrive at their address?

I remember that a lot of people posted on the forum that they got their decision letters on Feb 9th for the Feb 3rd date.

I hope I dont have to wait till the 16th for this letter!

Probbly depends where you live 😉

For the Feb 24 batch, people received acceptances on Feb 23 and 24. However, since this is the last round and all the remaining applicants have to be accounted for, I wouldn't be surprised if it took longer.

Yeah, I'm guessing it will take longer this round too. So at the earliest, I think they'll send things out on time.

Yeah, I'm thinking the letters will arrive around the 16th like a few others suggested. But honestly, who really knows when they'll go out. I agree with quirks that they'll send them out "on time" at the earliest. They'll take their time with the final decision.

😕 does anyone else have trouble getting through to a secretary when they call? i have never been lucky enough to have someone at emory answer the phone. was going to call tuesday to see if letters have been sent, but not sure it will do me any good...

I called friday to ask about something else and they answered immediately. I'd try calling again monday. Good luck!

Hey guys, quick question.

I got an email this morning asking me for a couple of things missing from my financial aid application. Because I haven't gotten into Emory, I didn't really send in all the stuff super-quickly. Has anyone else received this email? Might it mean that I was accepted/waitlisted and I just don't know yet? Any thoughts?

I got the email, too, and haven't heard a final decision yet. But I don't think Emory rejects post-interview...do they?

Just called, and it's neither good news nor bad. Apparently it's an automated thing that sends you a weekly reminder of what's missing in your financial aid app. Also, decisions should be sent out "in a couple of days". Ok then!

From the looks of last year's MDapps, I think the decision is just accept or WL after interviews.

On the financial note, does anyone else's parents completely not care that the Emory deadline for their tax return was March 1? Even now, "the sooner the better" reasoning is lost on my father.

decisions were sent yesterday, so said the nice secretary on the phone... SO NERVOUS... loved emory. good luck everyone.

omg! Thanks so much for calling! I'm 2 days away by priority and 3 by first class. Does anyone know if they mail priority or first class? I either start panicking tomorrow or Thursday.

lol do you think it's a priority for them to get the decisions to you as fast as possible by spending more money 😉

Some schools apparently do. That's why I asked. =P I have no delusions that I am actually that important to them! 🙂

lol really? They make us pay so much... I didn't know they had the potential to be generous

So I guess the earliest we will receive them is this Thursday, and hopefully the latest will be next Monday.

Excellent

Me nervous?

NO!

Isn't waiting on a decision that will affect your life in the coming months and knowing it's arriving within a week awesome?

Looks like I'll be met with disappointment each day until I see a letter from Emory in the box. Hoping for good news & good luck to everyone.

I HATE living in California...😡

Not to add to anyone's anxiety, but a few months back it took the letter three days to reach me in Northern Cali. Good luck to everyone waiting. I really hope you get great news!

Huh, that's nice! I wonder if I'll get it on thursday then. That would be lovely, since I'm going to be away friday-monday...

Does anyone know if this is still true?

"[FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]When the last Committee meeting takes place in March, and the final round of acceptance letters are mailed, the Committee will determine which interviewed applicants will be offered alternate status. Notification of alternate status will be communicated via email. Alternates are accepted throughout the summer until the class is filled."

I was browsing around the site and came across that in "After Applying to Emory."
.[FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

Haven't been home from work yet so don't know if I've gotten anything. Even if I've been accepted, I doubt the letter would arrive before tomorrow.

.

Huh, so apparently they're sending only good news (acceptances and waitlists) now and rejections at the end of March, according to this website: http://med.emory.edu/admissions/mdprogramcalendar.cfm

(you guys probably all know this already, but it's news to me, so I figured I'd share...)

This is still somewhat confusing to me. I wonder if the "[FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]not selected for admission or Alternate status" .just refers to the people who never interviewed. Because so far they've just been silently rejecting without official notification, right?

Well no they definitely started rejecting pre-interview a while ago (couple of weeks?). Anyways, who the hell knows....

This is news to me too. Thanks for posting it! I'm not sure I like this system, but I guess it gives them more time to be sure whether or not they want to reject someone.

So today I got home
I opened my mailbox
I looked inside
there was a large envelope
other envelopes were covering most of the front side
the top address said "Atlanta, GA"
I removed the other stuff....

and it was my roommate's credit card application.

GAH!

Hahaha. Man what a letdown!😀 All of the day's mail would've gone straight to the trash if that was me, just out of frustration.

The good thing is that you can look when it was postmarked, so you can approximate how many days it'll take for letters from Atlanta to reach you.

So who wants to call today? 😀 I don't get cell reception at work and it's kind of cold to sneak out to make a call. Maybe I can call on my lunch break though.

ETA: Okay, not gonna call today. Probably best to wait and see if I get a letter or not, and then if I don't by Saturday, I'm gonna call on Monday and ask about Wait List notifications!

Also, I'm really surprised no one's gotten anything yet. =/ Mail should be in for most people by today. I'm off to sacrifice a mouse (for lab; not for good luck or anything...) and then maybe I'll try to leave work around 5 instead of 6 for once.

I got nothing except for cable and electric bills in the mailbox today. For some reason, letters from med schools tend to take a while to get to my apartment though, so I'm not expecting anything till Saturday or Monday. I had one letter from a school only two states over take 9 days to arrive after it was postmarked.

So I guess there's still hope. Nothing in the mail for me today either, here in Southern CT. But according to the USPS estimate I'm only three mailing days away.

No one's gotten anything yet? Really? That's surprising. Isn't this supposed to be the big batch?

perhaps they are waiting for duke to come out?? i reallllllly want a letter...
