No offense, but I'm not answering that question (and I hope no one else does) because it seems like you just want to borrow ideas to copy for your own secondary.

If a person doesn't know why they want to work with the USP then they don't need to be applying to a place such as Howard. :meanie:

So.... I called the admissions office, and the woman there said there are only 3 employees so they don't verify LORs, nor do they send out notices (e-mail or snail) telling applicants when their files are complete.

Now, this totally troubles me. I mean I paid the app fee, you'd think at least I am entitled to learn whether my app is incomplete or I need to resend anything. 🙁
 
That sucks. 🙁

I wish there was more transparency in this entire process. :meanie:
 
They are probably short staffed due to people being sick or the move. We shall see though
 
They do verify upon receival of the secondary (about 3 weeks later) by email. But they don't verify any letters of recommendation. You can email and inquire about the letters though or call (Mon. or Fri) and talk to Ms. Walk.

so why do you want to become a doctor? lol, sry about the previous post, i thought it would be funny to actually see someone post their answers on here. I already finished my secondary and i would not want anyone to answer any of these questions for me.

I want to become a physician because I have a Messiah-complex. The idea of holding someone's life in my hands causes my nipples to become erect. 🙄

Like I would actually answer that question...

And why would it be "funny" to see someone post their reasons for working with the USP on this board? 😕

Have they started giving out interviews yet? I know I'm getting ahead of myself because I'm not turning my secondary in until tomorrow, but hopefully I'm not too far behind!

How brief were you in answering the questions on the secondary? I think I'm over analyzing things a little too much! I think I'm going to be really brief on the question that asks if I plan to practice in a medically underserved area. I have about a paragraph for the other questions that I said yes to. I hope that's enough, but not too much.

You are right. I guess I misunderstood what she said over the phone. They don't verify LORs unless you're invited to interview. But they do e-mail upon receiving the secondary... and I just found this out 'cuz I got an e-mail saying I FORGOT TO SIGN THE SECONDARY. :smack:

I am officially an idiot. So I expressed mailed over that this afternoon. Have to say, I'm awfully glad they sent me that e-mail promptly. The package I know arrived 5 days ago, and I just called their office yesterday. It almost makes me think calling made a difference... not that I recommend everyone bombard their office with calls lol.
 
Awww unsung, I forgot to sign my UF Application. With all the secondaries, you forget the simplest things. Good luck in the Appl process

My AMCAS was verified a week ago, but I still havent received the howard secondary. Should I call them? I hear they are not screened.

it took them awhile, like 2 weeks, for them to send mine. i'd give it another week before you call.
 
Hello everyone, I recieved an email from Howard University saying they recieved my secondary but they don't verify LORs!!!!! God Bless Everyone!!!!

Howard received my secondary yesterday and they should have my LOR's so I should be complete but we shall see. I pray I get an interview, In Jesus Name!
 
ive been waiting since 8/27 and still no confirmation email.

Hello everyone! I didnt get an email confirming that they received my secondary. I sent it 8/29..I guess I will wait till the end of the week (~3wks) before calling them
 
i recieved mine on monday which was 1 day before the 3 week deadline.
 
According to the person at the post office Howard should've received my secondary on Thursday. Yesterday evening I got an email saying that they had received it. Took less than a week.... I was amazed.
 
^Man, that is so unfair! That means that those of us who submitted within days after the secondary came out don't have the "early-bird advantage" for interview invites/consideration. 😡
 
so I got the confirmation email...makes me feel sooo much better! I need get an interview soon..i am sick of feeling like i have to check my email every 10 minutes!!!!😱
 
i just got the conformation email as well. it actually only took about 12 days for mine.
 
hi everyone,

after reading this board and determining that everyone is so much friendlier here than on any other school board i have just added howard and meharry because any school that focuses on helping underserved urban populations AND has such great people applying is where i need to be......good luck to everyone!!!!!
 
woo hoo go howard! anyone know when they are going to be sending out some interview invites? I'm guessing not until next month since the secondary was available so late.

Congrats on the interview invite! When is your interview? When did your secondary get received? Sorry for all of the questions, just excited that they are starting up! If you don't mind me asking.

congrats!! What were your stats if you don't mind me asking?
 
My stats aren't great, sub-30 MCAT. But I'm getting a graduate degree from HU so maybe that helped me out. I was complete on Sept 2nd and just got the invite email this afternoon. They give you a few dates to choose from but I've requested the 28th with the 29th as a back-up. They're supposed to send a confirmation email. I'm sure you'll both be getting one soon! Good luck!!! 🙂

Congrats again Sid! I hope I do get one soon, In Jesus Name! What degree are you getting? I was thinking about applying to get a masters there(Howard) if this cycle doesn't work out.

I know uh!!! :laugh: Especially now because we know that they are getting things going. I am excited. nervous, anxious, and everything else in the book!
