Judging by the interview invite thread they seem to be inviting people who were complete about mid Aug right now. Is that how invites at UCLA work, in order of when you are complete more or less?

Not sure, but if that's true, then I'm screwed cuz I haven't heard anything from UCLA for a while.
 
i screwed something up, and now i won't be complete for several weeks 🙁

Is it OK to talk about a high school experience on UCLA's secondary? More specifically, I'm trying to answer this question:
"What has been the ONE most unique leadership, entrepreneurial or creative activity in which you participated?"
So I had my own lawn care business in highschool and was successful enough to finance my undergraduate education. I think it's a unique "activity" and it had a impact on my work ethic as a college student. I know it's best to avoid highschool activities, but do you think I could pull this off?

I would put it, especially since it allowed impacted your undergraduate and probably future life outlook.
 
based on js1704 and funkeymonkey ucla is still reviewing people complete mid-Aug. I am mid-sept 🙁
 
Whats up everyone,
I'm an OOS applicant verified 9/15 and i still havent gotten the secondary. Should I just assume its a rejection? (I'm the definition of a borderline applicant plus i'm OOS so i wasn't really counting on anything anyway) or are they actually taking a while to screen applicants? I figure since some people had such quick turnaround from AMCAS verification to Secondary Received that I'm already in the reject pile but if not, then I'll keep hope alive.

Additionally, if this is even relevant, is it worth it to write a pre-secondary LOI or do they only screen the primary? THanks in advance guys, i appreciate it.
 
For what it's worth, I was verified in early July and haven't gotten a secondary (or any other correspondence). Of course, they haven't sent out any rejections yet, either.

I suspect it's a little early for an LOI.
 
For those with invites, normally how long did it take to get a response back with a date? I sent in my date request 10/7 and still no word.. 😕 They got my transcript yesterday. Do they wait for that before assigning a date?

Correction - my answer before was about secondaries! The website says that the invites don't start until January

I didn't think that the PRIME website even came up until 9/5. How could they send interview invites that day? From what the UCLA PRIME coordinator told me, they haven't started sending invites yet. Now I'm confused.
 
Hi all, I was hoping to get some opinions on my situation with UCLA. I received an email from the admissions office saying they received my primary application on July 25th and I still haven't heard anything about the secondary application. Is that pretty much a rejection? Is anyone else still waiting to hear from UCLA? Thanks!

How do you know when you're complete at this school? All my Status Check says is:

Supplemental Information Received 8/27/2008
Letters of Recommendation Received 8/28/2008
Interview ____________________

There is nothing saying my app is complete. I'm worried that I forgot some little detail somewhere and am still not considered complete.
 
So I think the Myth and the stuff UCLA has posted on their website was bogus, about them not considering state of residence....THe only ones on SDN that have posted about an interview are IS.

I just got an interview invite this Monday, and I was complete a long while ago. Details are on my MDApps. Flying in and out on the same day. Gonna be exhausted...

Know about healthcare, and what type of medicine you want to do. They ask about your family, what you like to do for fun, etc. It was rather conversational... but my interview was also slightly stressful with questions about who deserves healthcare, and what healthcare is like in India, and also I was asked about arranged marriages...

Don't worry, you can steer it any way you want to...

I just called the admissions office and was told that "Received" in both areas indicates "Complete". Hope that helps you!

JuliaGulia, can I please get the admissions office phone number? I received an invite, but they haven't given me a date yet..thinking about going to the office tomorrow to ask. But, a number would be nice too.

They recieved my letters of rec on august 4th, which i guess means I was complete then. Recieved interview on Oct. 17th.
 
Does UCLA screen heavily for their secondary for OOS students because I just added them like 2-3 days ago and I already received a secondary which I didn't expect? Is their screen based on just stats or on personal statement?

I've been going into the admissions office from time to time to say hello to the interviewees, and there's been an out-of-stater most of the time. The interview season is long. Hang in there.

When I was there for my interview, there were 3 UCLA people, including me, and an Maryland resident from Hopkins...
 
If you guys got in and I get in at Drew, we could potentially have our first 2 yrs together! Hahaha!

I think all your years would be together. MLK Drew hospital shut down, so I think it is mostly a program in name only.

The clinical yrs are still different with different focuses. Plus they just opened up a new urgent care clinic across the street from Drew and King. Maybe by the time 2011 gets here, King will be back up and running. I sure hope so. We shall see though.
 
I have a question guys, I was complete on August 29th, and I still haven't heard anything, how much longer do you think I should wait?

Also, on the status page, there is nothing after TRANSCRIPT, is that normal? I should send my transcripts after I get accepted or something, or I should've done that already? I hope that doesn't matter! So can anyone quickly say something about that?

I wish I get an interview soon!

They asked me to send in official transcripts after I received an interview invite, so I think you're fine. Good luck, I hope you get an interview!
 
Does anyone know when decisions come out. I have heard 12/15, 1/15, and apparently looking at last year's thread, the first decisions came out 2/15!!!😱

Come on, accept me already... you know you wanna...*suggestive eyebrow raise*

I asked two different people when I was there and they both said Jan. 15. Sooooo long to wait!!
 
All I have to say is that I am thoroughly impressed with the speed of UCLA admissions office. I added the school late to my AMCAS, the next business day I received the secondary, and only one day later my LORs were marked as complete. I hope they are this quick when reviewing the apps (somehow I doubt this will be the case, but I can be hopeful).
 
has anyone heard anything as of late in regards to interviews?
 
Unlike most other schools, they know they have an extremely strong pull and that if they offer you an admission, there is a huge chance you will go there, even if it is late in the cycle.
 
I'm about to fill out my interview request form. I am supposed to suggest some preferred dates for the interview, but I don't know how far in advance these dates should be. For those of you who have recently received an interview date confirmation, what month is UCLA scheduling interviews now?
I have some dates available in November and early December, but then I will not be in the LA area until after winter break.
Also, will they give me a date before they receive my transcript and photo?
Lastly, what kind of photo do they want?

I interviewed back in September and actually just scheduled over the phone. I think they gave me a date about a week from when they invited me, but they were really flexible. I wouldn't worry too much about doing it early. They don't send out acceptances until Jan 15 so you might not be at too much of a disadvantage if you push it back.
They will certainly schedule the interview without the transcript and photo. In fact, I just brought the photo (small head shot, like the ones other applications ask for) with me and sent the transcripts later. They just need to get those eventually. Good luck and congrats!

Basically UCLA and one other school are the only schools, that I havent heard back from, that i would consider over my acceptances now...so shouldIsend them a LOI of sorts.

Yeah, UCLA doesn't like me either. I hate my state schools now. 😡

Call and ask. They'll tell you if they like LOIs pre-interview.
