Chuck, that's true, just good to know there's more of us out there still... 🙂
another email from "admissions"-- they got my hr racing-- to remind me to fill out my FAFSA because I'm still on the waitlist. Couldn't it have at least been from Fin Aid... I wouldn't have gotten as worked up!
super adrenaline dump... then d'oh.
at least I'm awake now. Jesus what a rush...
hey, I've heard that most waitlist movement happens ~May 15th. is that generally true?
hey does anyone know what a typical 1st and 2nd year week's class schedule at Pitt is like?
Could a current med student give some perspective on living in Pitt? Thanks 🙂
I read somewhere that 40% of Pitt med students receive grants or scholarships. Is this true? Are all of these given based on merit?
I really like living here. I live in Shadyside currently and will be moving to Highland Park this summer. Shadyside is a bit on the expensive side, but it was worth it, in my opinion, because I wanted a nice apartment where I would feel comfortable and safe. I found a nice apartment in Highland Park for $200 cheaper that gives me an extra 500 square feet, though, so that's where I'm heading next.
The bus system is pretty good around here so it's really easy to get to school.
There are lots of things to do in this city and it's really pretty safe when compared to other cities.
Any specific questions?
I am on the waitlist as well, but I was wondering how many of your classmates have cars? How costly is it to keep a car in Pittsburgh?
Also how many of your classmates live in grad housing?
Ok after getting that "ask a student" e-mail this morning I have to say Pitt is pretty much the #1 cause of heart attack among premed students.
Yeah same here

What is the range of rental cost in Shadyside?
Thanks.
Hmmm...it's really going to depend on the size of the apartment and whether or not you split rent withh a roommate. My apartment is going to be renting for $970 for 800-850 square feet, and that's up from the $860 I paid when I first moved in.
I would say you're probably looking at between 700-1200 plus or minus utilities. A good way to get an idea of prices is to look on craigslist http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/apa/
Was anyone else sold on the school based on the Dyson AirBlade in the bathrooms?
congrats food! How did they notify you!oh man i'm 100% at pitt now, got a 30k/year merit scholarship!! that makes it cheaper than my state school !!!! i am so excited!! 😀
goodluck to you guys on the waitlist!
oh question--i was wondering what the building/area is called where med students stay and it kinda looks like a dorm? its like at the end of this road, and near the children's hospital. and it's relatively new/nice looking. i know this isn't descriptive at all, but it's where i stayed with a student host when i interviewed. haha okay thanks! damn i'm so excited!!!
Has everyone who interviewed heard by now?
Also, I wanted to let you all know that I e-mailed a few questions to the ask a med student thing and I received a prompt, thorough, thoughtful reply. I highly recommend it if you need a little encouragement in this dead period until May.
Just wondering is Pitt has compiled its match list yet. Any insight from current students/Erina is appreciated
i attached the match list (minus student names) to this post
OK, rearranged by speciality. The numbers add upto 163, does it mean that there are repeats in prelim and transitional?

Hey! Has anyone going to second look (next weekend!!) heard anything about student hosts? I'm wondering if I need to book a hostel room or a hotel just in case?
It was asked awhile ago, but I'd be happy to report back about the revisit for people who can't go.
The student hosts have been matched with people who are coming to second look. They should be contacting you soon about it--I just saw the list today.
