*GASP* The list moved! Talk about good timing! I was #10 on the is list, and got a call this morning. She said that the official letter should come in the mail in the next few days.

Good luck to everyone else. Maybe some of you have gotten good news today too?

do they pull from IS or OOS waitlist depending on who withdraws? or do they give preference to the IS list even if the person withdrawing is OOS?

because i would think there would be more OOS movement by now, especially if they're on 10 for IS. that's a lot of capitl o's and s's.

I believe that they initially accept the ratio of is/oos students that they want, and then pull from the oos list when an oos student withdraws and vice versa, more or less maintaining this ratio... But if they were to give preference, I think it would be to oos rather than is (more tuition $$$, etc).

I wasn't given any information about the oos list, but I would imagine that this list might move more slowly (because you are given two weeks to decide once you're pulled, and I imagine that oosers might take longer to decide). Just a thought... Good luck!

I received a letter last Friday indicating that they didn't anticipate getting to my spot on the waitlist and so they were closing my file. I was ranked 27 on the OOS waitlist. I knew when they told me my rank that the dishes were probably done, but I sympathize with the people who are on the margins. I'm only on the waitlist at one other school and this is my second year applying, so you can imagine.

I feel so sorry for you.
And best wishes for your other waiting list!!!!!!!!!

Anyone hear anything about the IS waiting list now? I know its a shot in the dark, but I'm 23 and I want to see if I have a shot before I sign a new lease.
Thanks!!!

Just in case you didn't read this far back, I was #10 on the IS list and they let me in on May 22... Maybe you have a shot? But I'd sign the lease anyway, as it's a good time to secure housing (vs. August), and the price of breaking the lease would be nothing compared to the savings of paying IS tuition if you were to get in later on down the road, imho...

Good luck!!!

True. Apparently now I'm 4th on the wait list (I was 23) so its been moving along for IS. I'm going to probably sign the lease anyway though in case.

19 accepted from the IS list but ZERO from the OOS list!!!!

For most schools, the OOS list is moving much faster than the IS list.

As a state school, it seems UW really love IS applicants.

As a state school, I'm pretty sure they have an obligation to take a certain number of WI residents.

wow. 0 from OOS. and I thought I had a chance because I'm pretty high on OOS. oh well, would have absolutely loved to go here.

I was also ranking on the very top on the OOS list.

In the past five years, the max number of people accepted from the waitlist is 29.

This year, 19 have been gone for the IS list.

I checked with admissions on Tuesday or Wednesday about my instate waitlist placement. I had been #34, and now I'm 13 or 14. They have accepted 20 people off the instate waitlist, and now the class is considered full, so the only way more people are getting in is if accepted students pull out. There isn't much likelihood of making it up to 13, but a few more might make it in. I didn't ask about the out of state list.

I am so excited to let you all know I got accepted from the OOS waitlist very recently. I was No. 2 on the list. I hope this information is useful for anybody who is still waiting.

Although I have three other acceptance, UW is absolutely my No. 1 choice.

Ya........

So....I was number 23 IS and now I'm number 1! Woot! (someone please defer now ;)
