ACCEPTED!!!!! (I: 1/23)

I am attending for sure! Awesome school, great facilities, and first class training!

My hands are still shaking an hour after reading the letter!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting!!!!:luck:

:soexcited::soexcited::soexcited: !!! It's official - we have a momma trifecta!!! (Actually, I think there's four of us!) Hurray!!!! Congrats!!! YAY!!!

Everyone who interviews has a chance at a spot in the class- last year they ended up with 163 for the 2008 entering class- I believe 7 or 8 ultimately deferred to come up with the 155. (Someone please correct me if those #s are off).

And actually, it seems encouraging that they are reviewing WL candidates and offering them spots in the class- maybe they haven't offered as many spots as in years past?

Good luck to everyone still waiting!!! :luck:

There are 168 people in our class.

Got the letter today placing me on the waitlist. I interviewed 1/23 and am out-of-state, although I did work for a number of months in northern Wisconsin this past year. Anyone know the recent history of waitlist movement?

I worked as an elder law attorney in Hurley from February to August.

People on this list have been saying about 5-10 people get in off the list. The waitlist distinguishes between IS and OOS, with the OOS state list having more movement.

Waitlist letter today, in-state, interviewed 1/30, complete mid-October. Looks like I'll be going through this again next year.

Rebs28: Sorry to hear that. Why did you withdraw from Vanderbilt?

I had my interview last Friday; if any of you were there on the same day, I think it will be obvious who I am. But in any case, I was quite impressed. I liked UW a lot.. for me, it's a matter of fit and student support, and UW delivers in both. I know will be looking forward to finding out the final decision on my candidacy.. they said 4-6 weeks, right? But it could be sooner if your file is pulled out at random, earlier?

You guys came just when everyone was done with exams, must have made things interesting, haha. M1s were in the integrating cases during that time, which is one of the new and very interesting things they're doing with our class.

Yup, my student host was definitely taking it easy when I was staying with him. He sounded really glad to be done with exams, though he was more or less catching up on sleep debt, which was kinda funny. I saw the M1s in the classrooms, and my student host had already explained to me what that was about... he said it is very interesting, i.e. once a cop came in and presented a DUI case or something like that (can't quite remember), etc. But its also nice that these take up the Thurs and Fri's after the exams, like a post-exam refractory period.

The new curriculum seems like a big improvement over the old one, and the details I saw on the website, old threads, etc. prior to the interview weren't helpful or relevant. But the interview day answered most, if not all, of my questions.. I'm just excited in general about this school, and while I know my chances are good post-interview, I'm just hoping the cards fall in the right place for me.

Could anybody tell me where I can find the recent match list of UW?

It seems it is not in the school's website.

Thanks a lot in advance.

I think the new block system is pretty cool. It's definitely a work in progress, but it should be great for the 2013 class. Our last block really sucked b/c it was extended to 6 weeks and a bit because of the exam order, it turned out fine but it could have been done better. We had a town hall meeting to talk about changes that we recommend and most of the tweaks that are recommended by the students are adopted, which is really cool.

If you talk to Chris Stillwell in career services, I'm sure he could give you a copy of the list. I don't think match lists are particularly useful, though.

I got not just one, but two copies of the recent year's match list in my interview folder/brochure. You should have it there if you've interviewed already. If not, just wait till you get to the HSLC; there's this wall thing near the bathrooms with all of the admissions information on it, you'll find copies of the match list packet there. Or you could just wait until you get your folder/brochure on interview day.

Anyone heard from the WARM program lately?

I got my response in 3 weeks. Good luck!!! :D

Wow, I hope I hear 3 weeks post-interview too. I'm feeling pretty damned anxious to hear back from UW, even more so than any of the other schools I've interviewed at. It'll be two weeks this Friday. Has anyone heard back from UW recently?

FYI, the last interview group is this friday, I imagine they're going to finish making decisions pretty shortly here.

Congratulations!!!!

Looks like we will have at least a duo of CA girls this next year...

can't do much about the -6/-60 windchill, but at least there is a tunnel system between the hospital and HSLC!

See you in August?!?

There will be a lot more than two students coming from CA.

when i was there @ the interview, the dean found out i was from california and said, "just to let you know, we're having a heat wave this week *wink*". it was 30degrees. hahahaa..

i'm still waiting back for california schools. i really did loved madison, but the non-resident tuition is almost unbelievable.... =(

I actually thought the cost was quite reasonable compared with other out of state tuitions. Look at the overall amount rather than the tuition alone. All of the California schools come with California cost of living. UW Madison OOS cost of attendance is about $54,000 for 1st year. UCLA in-state for comparison is about $50,000. UCI runs $51,400. Med school will be expensive for anyone coming from California. We have no cheap schools to turn to.

I agree. OOS tuition is actually $7,000 cheaper per year compared to the other schools I'm looking at (both state and private)

Hey guys,
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Just thought I'd let you all know that I received my acceptance letter from UW today. I'm an in-state resident and interviewed at the end of February. My letter was dated 3-12, so perhaps another round of notifications has been sent out. Good luck to those still waiting!:)

Pretty fast turnaround, congrats! I think the adcom is kicking things in gear since interviewing is done.

by waitlist you mean the alternate list?

How did you know you will be evaluated? I thought they only evaluate once, once alternate listed no more reviews?

I called admissions and just said that I was curious about when decisions were being made (because the last interview group was a week ago Friday).

It sounds like a few people have been pulled off of the alternate list already- Good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear!

Congrats RoadRunner! Good job acing your interview =]

When'd you interview? I interviewed 2/28... did you receive anything via email? or just snail mail?

Interviewed at the end of February, finally got the green light in the mail today! Sweeeeeet.

congrats!

UW doesn't do an official second look but last year pre-M1s did their own unofficial second look, haha.

We tried to take interviewees out and show them a good time as much as our schedules allowed though during the season. Madison will be pretty awesome to visit in April/May, it was 68 today!
