To everyone waiting...do not despair. I received an interview invite today (yes, a Sunday). Best of luck!

jehrdoc, when was ur app complete?

Hey mj5739, I just checked and I was complete in early September. I should note that I sent a quick (1 sentence) email to the admissions office earlier this month saying that I hadn't heard anything for a few months and that I was still interested.

I don't know if this did anything but I can't imagine it hurt.

Well...I guess I will be the first one to post (ouch). Got rejected this morning via email and status page update. Was complete 9/10. Good luck to everyone else.

Keck is the only school that gave me an interview last year...I wonder if they'll give me one this year. 😳

Just got rejection email! Its funny b/c if someone would have asked me which MD school I thought I had the best shot at, I would have said USC. It just goes to show that you never konw in this process! Schools you think you are competitive at will reject you, and you may get accepted to schools you never dreamed possible. Good luck to all that are still alive!

p.s. this is a pre interview rejection

When were you all who got rejected complete? I'm trying to figure out if no news is good news or just that they haven't gotten around to stamping "REJECTED" yet on my application.

Hey, i was complete 10/7 and rejected this morning pre-interview. good luck to those still up for consideration!

Also rejected pre-interview today. Complete early Sept.

This is getting really depressing.

Well dang, I just realized that Keck doesn't send emails when your application is complete, so I don't even know what my own complete date is. D'oh.

I received a completion email.

my schools forwarding email server seems to be down, so I don't even know if I got rejected or not.
lol

I received a completion email.

Really? All of the parts of my application have the green checkmark, but the only post-submission email that I received was that my fee was paid. Nothing about being complete. I remember that LORs took a while longer to be recorded. Ah well.

Fizzle,

You should have received this email:

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for applying to the Keck School of Medicine for the fall 2009
incoming class. At this time, your primary and secondary applications,
fees, and letters of recommendation have been received and processed.

You are probably wondering what comes next. We hope that the following
FAQs will clarify the remainder of the process for you.

Once my application is complete, can I send updated grades as they become
available, letters of interest, or additional letters of recommendation?
Once your file is complete, it gets sent to a member of our screening
committee digitally. We are unable to send them any additional
information, therefore, please do not send any updates via email or hard
copy – they will be discarded. Updates are only accepted after you have
been invited for an interview, and can be brought to our office on your
interview day. Changes to your mailing address must be done through
AMCAS, however, you may call our office to change your current email
address or phone number.

Once my application is complete, when can I expect to hear something from
Keck?
Please be assured that the screening committee will review your
application very thoroughly. We interview between October and April, and
you may receive an interview invitation anytime during this period.
Interview invitations will come via email, inviting you to log back into
our system to schedule an interview. Applicants receive invitations to
interview on a rolling basis. Please refrain from calling the office to
check on the status of your application, as we have no information on
where your file is in the screening process once it has been sent
digitally to the committee.

I will be in Los Angeles for Winter/Spring break, another interview, etc.
Can I find out if Keck will be inviting me for an interview so I can
schedule it at the same time?
Until you receive an email invitation from the screening committee, we are
unable to assist you with interview scheduling. Once you have received an
invitation, please call our office and we will do what we can to
accommodate your situation.

May I speak with the Dean of Admissions or a member of the Admissions
Committee regarding my application?
Dr. Quinn and the Admissions Committee will not meet with anyone during
the application process.

If you have a question that has not been answered here, please feel free
to contact the Admissions Office. We are here to assist you with any
further questions or concerns you may have regarding the admissions
process at the Keck School of Medicine. We look forward to working with
you in the future.

Sincerely,
The Office of Admissions
Keck School of Medicine

I never got a complete email but I emailed and they told me I was. I got an interview even though I didn't get the complete email.

lol

You can log into your status page and if you were sent a rejection email it should be noted under your decision.

I also haven't received a complete email despite being complete for some time. How did you find out about your interview invite? Unsolicited e-mail? or did they tell you when you inquired as to your status?

No I got an interview invite like everyone else - email. I just never got an email saying that I was complete.

Wow, I haven't been checking this thread, because I didn't think I'd get anything but a rejection from USC. Clearly, I was wrong, I got an interview request yesterday (12/28). I was complete sometime in October, but not sure exactly when, because I never received a complete email, as others have been saying. I'm from Portland and fell in love with LA this summer after my first and subsequent second visits. My interview is scheduled for 2/24. Can't wait! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted, much luck to those on the waitlist and sorry to those who have been rejected, it'll happen in due time!

did the status appear in the area with the green check marks? or was there somewhere else on the website you went to?

i havent heard from them since mid sept...USC is killing me!

haven't heard anything yet

the status page is pretty useless once everything is complete b/c they don't tell you anything like 'we're reviewing your file' or 'you've been put on hold' etc.

The status page changes when you are offered an interview, and, apparently (see above) it changes when you get rejected. I wouldn't say it's completely useless.

I interviewed on Nov. 21st and can't wait to hear back from USC. Anyone hear anything lately? I'm wondering if calling will do any good or if I should just be patient. They told us 6 weeks but also said to look for something in the mail around Jan. 12th. I'm so anxious!😳

Anyone hear anything today? I can't wait to hear!!! AAAAHHH.....waiting is the hardest part of this whole process.

It takes them awhile. I interviewed end of oct and didn't receive the letter in the mail until xmas time. Though the letter was dated 12/8 (almost exactly 6 weeks after my interview).

Good luck!! Keck is my dream! 🙂

Interviewed middle of November and got acceptance letter by post last thursday 1/8. Good Luck!

No news yet. Tomorrow brings a new round of anticipation! 🙄

Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back! :luck:

Has anyone been given an interview recently? A lot of people who sent in their secondaries at around the same time as me got rejections a week or so ago, but I don't know what that means for me.

Also, do they send most interview invites on Sundays?

I was complete mid-Sept, also haven't heard anything.

Still nothing in the mail today 🙄 I really really really want to go to USC!!!:xf:

So I caved in and called today after not hearing anything since I submitted my secondary in late September. Dont read too much into this but the secretary said that not being rejected by now is a great sign as many applicants have been already rejected; she also said that at this point, it means that the admissions committee favorably reviewed you to be a potential interviewee and is in the process of handing out more invites to those who remain yet to be rejected. Logical deduction would have got you to the same conclusion, but just thought I would share anyways. Hopefully some of us will receive an invite soon :xf:

Got the email invite today!! Hang in there guys =)

So I did find out that they mailed out some letters already in the last few days and are mailing mine within the week. This makes me nervous that I'm in the waitlist batch 🙁

I would love to be in LA this fall. Why can't they just tell us over the phone! Its already been almost 8 weeks. Sorry, I don't mean to be whiny, I'm just really really anxious!

Has anyone gotten any acceptance letters lately? Good luck to everyone waiting :luck:

I have my Keck interview in a week and a half. I've talked to current medical students, and they rave about ICM. Can anyone explain to me why ICM is better than curricula at other schools? I understand that it's a very patient centered approach to teaching medicine, so do other schools not have a patient centered appoach?

Thanks
