To the underrepresented minority interviewees: Did any of you request to be hosted by an underrepresented minority student?
 
I got the interview invite post marked 8/18 and am kind of dragging out the essays... but on their website they say it is HIGHLY recommended to finish the secondaries and interview early in the process becaus their acceptance is on a rolling basis.

I was wondering if anyone knows how open or full their september interview slots are as of yesterday or today? A response would be much appreciated!

I just submitted within the past 24 hrs.

There are only about two days per week remaining for September. And none of them are Mondays or Fridays, which may or may not be a problem depending on your typical class/work schedule and how far away you live from Vanderbilt. Also, you can't select an interview date that's within 7 days of your secondary submission date, so take that into consideration.

hurry up vandy!! interview me or reject me! lol. its my last school, I'm eager to get all my secondaries done so I can start focusing on getting ready for interviews 😛
 
Pretty much only tuesday dates left in september. I just scheduled today. October has quite a few more openings but you guys should finish it up asap if you have specific dates you need.

Thought this might be helpful for anyone who hasn't received a letter yet:

Today marked 6 weeks from my AMCAS email from Vanderbilt, so I called the office. They told me to email one of their admin assistants. To my amazement, she promptly replied with a pdf of my letter, which was mailed on August 18th and probably got lost in the mail (I changed addresses). Turned out to be good news 🙂

So if you've been waiting 5-6 weeks and are worried your letter might be lost, you might want to give them a call.

I searched the thread half-heartedly, but could not find which days are still available for interviews. Anyone know which days in october/november are available?

grrrrr I called, and they told me to wait until 8 wks (its been 6)

it keeps telling me to double-check my login and password.
Is it a malfunction? Is this the wrong place to sign in to schedule an interview? Or is it possible that I was somehow deleting from the system or something, because I submitted my secondary about 2 weeks ago, but have been unable to schedule an interview until now?

That's the site to schedule the interview, but I don't know why you can't login. I submitted awhile ago, scheduled, and still have access, so you might want to call the Admissions Office and let them know you're having technical difficulties and see if you can schedule over the phone.
 
maybe i copied that password/ID wrong from the letter (I don't have it with me). My ID is 9 letters, my password is 4 digits, is that what everyone else has?

My password is 4 digits, but I have a 6 letter ID. I think it's just formed from your name though (MDLASTNAMEFIRSTINITIALMIDDLEINITIAL).

I obviously have a short last name...

and if you're a reapplicant, they add a number onto the end of your last name. but you're right, that's the format.
 
can somebody be a gem and tell me which dates (specifically) in the first two weeks of November are still available? you can PM it to me or post it or whatever--this would be so incredibly helpful, thanks!
 
Is there a way to check the dates before submitting your secondary? (I'm guessing not...) My invite was sent Sep 8th but I didn't get it 'til today (sigh/yay!). I also was not expecting to receive this so haven't started my secondary or anything (just sigh).

Could anyone give us an idea of how full October-December are in general? Good luck to those of you whose interviews are coming up :luck:
 
And my first rejection comes from Vandy. Didn't really feel too bad about this one.

Not that Vandy isn't incredible - CCLCM was just my dream.

That always sucks. But if it makes you feel any better, I'm not even complete at Case yet (letters just arrived a few days ago), so my CCLCM dreams might be shattered soon also. Then we can drink/cry together. 🙁
 
7.5 weeks and still waiting!
 
hmmm my mailman sucks. They mailed my letter to me on Aug 16th, and I emailed today (sept 18th), and they were like "oh.... yeah you haev an interview... i guess you didnt get the letter!"

lol =P
 
Congrats dulcina....good you posted that, my letter was dated <3 weeks after verification even, so if it's taking an excessively long time people should give them a call!

How long did you guys take to finish your secondary?
 
I took a month and a half to submit the secondary after the interview invite (whoops). I don't think it really matters from their point of view. It's just smarter to get it done earlier because I definitely didn't get my first choice for interview date/time (8AM in the morning!)

i finished my secondary within 2 weeks. i'd say as long as you're getting it done in a month or so, you should be fine. don't wait a month and a half like linguini unless you have a good reason.
 
Ha, that's a pretty big range of completion times.

I'm just worried because it took awhile for it to get to me (I'm in Canada) and I'm paranoid there won't be any dates left until December or something since there's been a lot of invites recently - Vandy's rolling right?

Well when I scheduled my interview a few days ago (Sunday I think), I booked it for Oct 24. There were still plenty of dates in November. Do it soon and they will probably still be open.

haha it was actually infinity late. I never got the letter, I just emailed the school and they sent me an electronic copy of the letter (oh why couldnt they have done that to start with!). I always get mail that is for the houses around me (often the entire block!), so im guessing thats what happened. I think my mailman is lazy and he just dumps a whole bunch of mail for the area in one house...

Or unless you're currently in a foreign country and didn't get the letter till 2-3 weeks later than the date on it. 🙁

Wow! Well, at least Vanderbilt is one of the only schools that sends everything through snail mail so you don't have to worry about the same thing happening to other schools.

It depends, I got mine exactly 7 days after it was dated...but I live in a big city. If it were a small town in the states going to another small town up here, yea it could take 2 weeks+

I'm hoping to finish mine by tommorow, so about a week since I got it. Because it's my only interview right now, I'm freaking out like, "what if this is my only chance???" and spending probably 10x as much time on this than I have any other secondary. At least we're submitting electronically 🙂
