I got accepted today off the wailist! Interviewed 4/2. Waitlisted late April. Hope you all hear good news soon too.

Seeing these I realized I completely forgot to update this thread when I was accepted 2 weeks ago. 🙂🙂 It was the middle of a crazy few days, sorry. 😛

I'm almost positive I won't be attending. I'm waiting on finaid, but I doubt it will be competitive. So that's most likely a spot for one of you! :luck::luck::luck:

did you accepted people send in letters of interest? intent?
 
I sent in a letter of interest after I got waitlisted and then I got in like 2 weeks later or so. I sent it in mainly because the website tells you to reaffirm your interest in UVM if you want to go, etc. when you are waitlisted.
 
I've sent two letters by now and I've been waitlisted for a while -- Am starting to make funny faces at it all.

There's still time though, fingers will remain crossed.

And of course, congratulations to all of you getting in 🙂

Haha, I feel exactly the same way! 2 letters in, and lots of funny faces.
3rd letter's a charm? Or just overkill!?

Since I was waitlisted in September, I have sent in a short email every 4 weeks or so with a short update and reaffirming my interest. It seemed to work for me.

Hey everyone, I got the magic acceptance email this morning. I've been on the waitlist for about a month and a half, interviewed March 5. The wait was really beginning to break me. What a relief! I'm in shock.

Anyway, hang in there waitlist folks; it's moving. Ironically, I just sent in my third letter of intent last night, but I doubt that had any impact.

Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you this summer!

Yay!! Congrats Karbala!🙂 You must be ecstatic! I'm writing my letter of intent/second letter of interest right now... any advice??

Yeah, send it in on Sunday night and then when they let you in on Monday morning you can forever wonder if any of those damn letters did anything!

No, seriously, I have no idea. But I think it's better to send them more communications than less. I read somewhere that once May rolls around, every two weeks is a good rule-of-thumb for checking in with them. But really who knows.

Good luck. I really feel for you, having been in your position 12 hours ago. I'm still kind of in shock.

First of all, congrats on your acceptance! You must be so happy.

As for LOIs, I sent my fourth one on Saturday night. (This was my first letter of INTENT, though; the others were just expressions of strong interest in the school.) I was really surprised to get an acknowledgment an hour later--and it was from Tiffany Delaney, the director of admissions! I guess they're working overtime to get ready for May 15th.

Here's hoping I get the same results that you did! :xf::xf:
 
I got in off the OOS waitlist last night! Anyone know when the snail-mail packet is coming!? So excited! By the way, I also sent my 3rd letter of interest the same day! haha.

This is my 3rd acceptance and currently my top choice. I really, really liked the school, but the prospect of financial ruin is somewhat daunting.

Similar situation, although even with the mountains of debt, I'm still planning to attend UVM right now. I also got a big shrug from financial aid when I tried to talk to them about it. They said something along the lines of "well, not everyone spends $2500 a year on food, so you can cut back here and there..." Very frustrating. I don't want to be close to $300k in debt by the time graduation rolls around!

Ah! So after months of reading everyones posts I decided to join in on all of the fun. On the OOA waitlist. So, for those of you who were recently accepted, what did your email say????!!! I want to at least imagine what it would be like!
 
got an awesome email yesterday and an awesome scholarship!! wasn't expecting any merit money from uvm but am sooo pumped! this makes my decision 10000Xs easier 😀

That's fantastic!!! 👍👍 Congrats! Are you considering withdrawing from the UNC waitlist? (I didn't apply there--just curious 🙂)
 
Thanks for the congrats! I received an email yesterday regarding the scholarship. And yes, I'm still going to stay on the waitlists because, once again, this process is full of surprises, good and bad! Good luck to everyone waiting to hear! May 15th is right around the corner! :xf::xf:

I agree about the letters. I sent in three post-interview/WL (and also one to GET an interview). I got my acceptance a day after the last update. UVM just really loves attention.

Congrats on your acceptance! I hope you're right about the letters. 🙂 I'm not sure I'd advise everyone to call the Admissions office and ask to speak to Tiffany... I'm sure they're really busy right now since we're coming up on the 15th fast. They might be open to it--I'll admit I personally had my hand on the receiver before I thought better of it; they're probably expecting an inundation now since I'm sure they keep up with sdn. I did speak to Patrick recently and while he would say the waitlist is moving, UVM is resolute in their decision to keep the waitlist rankings to themselves. *sigh* Can't you give me just a little glimmer of hope UVM?
 
Hi all,
I interview at UVM in February, OOS, waitlisted since March. No replies, but looks like I'll be getting in elsewhere so I don't need to worry about UVM.

The students at UVM during my visit were great and really supportive. The facilities inside the med school and hospital were really nice and hi-tech.

But other than that, honestly I thought Burlington was too remote, too cold, and too far/expensive. And their 'intergrated curriculum' seemed strange to me, as I couldn't help but think that taking the USMLE a few months earlier in their curriculum would somehow impact scores.

Congratulations! I know, it's like the craziest feeling. For the last two weeks I feel like I won the lottery or something. Although now I'm doing the classic new 1st year neurotic thing where I feel like they're going to realize they made a mistake and rescind my admission! Congrats again, and hang in there everybody still waiting!!
