He could have been accepted from a waitlist at another school after May 15 and decided to switch.

I had two weeks from my acceptance to make my decision. And since I got accepted by the other school at relatively the same time, I've been spending the time making my hard decision 🙁

In my excitement I also forgot to post:
Received 2nd look email 10 days ago..wrote a LOI about 1.5 months ago, emailed Dr. WHC about 2 months ago with the "people at your rank were accepted last year" response and the "you are not in a bad place" response. OOS Female.

I was just told this too but did not receive the second look e-mail. Is the waitlist moving like last year so far? I really hope I have a good chance! I'm in state by the way.

I think I really like VCU much better though, not to mention that although I have not met anyone here on this thread yet, I really think that we make an outstanding and fun group. So cheers to VA. If CA happens, I guess it will for a reason. If not, I am VERY stoked about moving to Richmond.. So will see. I guess time will reveal everything 🙂..

🙂 you won't see very much snow. In the nearly 2 years that I've lived here we had 7-8 days of light snow with no accumulation and this year we had one day where we got about 8 inches of accumulation. I'm from Cali too, the central valley, so it never snowed where I grew up.

Don't worry about the deadlines and if in doubt call. Some of the deadlines don't apply if you've just been recently accepted.

For the current med students, I wanted to know what residency directors think of VCU's students and education. What is VCU's reputation in regards to applying to residency (especially competitive ones - anesthesiology)? Is VCU strong in any particular area of medicine?

Also, how about this managing your med. school debt day on June 12th? I find it a bit bothersome that they hold this day (which is most important for those of us paying out of state tuition) in June!

If I remember correctly from when I looked this up for someone else, August 10 is the first day or orientation, August 17th is the first day of classes. I believe our white coat ceremony was the Thursday during orientation week.

Unless you'd have trouble if you were asked to balance a checkbook, I wouldn't bother. Nothing you can't find doing a little research on the web.

I'm still waiting too and I haven't heard from VCU yet. However, I e-mail WC about my chances and she replied with:
you are in the top 10% of those remaining on the waitlist. Last
year we did get to that rank, I can't promise that this year, but noted it
just to give you a reference. Time is the main thing now, waiting.
I'm not sure if that sounds encouraging, but I hope it is!

Same here. Got the email yesterday. IS female 2nd time applicant. Did get the virtual second look email. I am very happy but at the same time very tense. My GPA for the spring semester of pre med certificate program was bad and fell below 3.0 so now I am taking a summer course to bring that GPA up and graduate before matriculation. Praying for an A. I would really hate to lose my acceptance because of one lousy semester.

So now the scramble begins- I am looking at apts in the fan and would like to have at least 1 apt-mate to lower costs. If anyone just got in off the waitlist and is looking for roommates, let me know.
