I'm so confused. You actually received an e-mail telling you you're on hold and you already interviewed? Now I'm totally lost. Is their admissions office still open?

I interviewed on Sept. 11. It'd be almost impossible for my file to not have been reviewed by the committee. I also received the status page change a few weeks ago, saying they would let me know the today, dec. 15, feb 1, etc.
 
Yay I'm in!!! 😍 What a relief. I <3 VCU!

For those who haven't heard anything, hang in there... Dec. 15 is not too far away...

No 6:04pm update for me.
I had my interview during 2nd week of September!

Just now I got the standard 6:04 message to check my status which revealed the hold message I believe people are getting post interview (your file has been reviewed by the committee and decisions will be made oct 15, etc).

My confusion was whether or not my file ever went to committee, since my interview was only 2 weeks ago.
 
Ugh.... this is torture. I don't mind waiting later to find out, but now I'm worried something is wrong. ronicajay receiving a hold notification has completely confused me.

Edit -- Ah. So I guess your status page was updated because you still had the survey message, but mine stayed the same because I already had it. Total bummer. At least notifying me would have been nice.

I dont think she was complete until today...If you didnt get a status update today..i think you will have to wait till dec🙁..but call to makesure.

exactly! today = survey message --> post-interview hold message

also, sorry for any confusion. i was pretty confused myself (being complete or not)
 
Well tonight is officially 'drink yourself into a stupor' night for me. I need to go find a bottle of rum. Dammit.

Hahah...tonight is drink and watch the debate night. We'll hear good news in two months I hope!
 
I think I got what's going on:

No 6:04pm email means you are NOT rejected but since they do NOT make the WL until late April... you do NOT get "you are on our WL" status. (No WL to be on..YET!)

so:
1. Wait until next announcement date (12/15) for either an offer or rejection or the same no 6:04pm email (which means you are still in the game)
2. Around late April/early May, they will make a WL which by then you should get a "you are on a WL" status page or rejection!

Whew! What a head ache 😳

So, those of you who got NO STATUS UPDATE today...we are still in the game...just more waiting game! Buckle up! 😀

Just got this status update from VCU:

"The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are able to grant an interview you will be notified by e-mail. "

Is this something simular to preinterview hold? They are interested in me, but they cannot guarantee an interview? Has anyone else received a message like this? What can I do to increase my chances? :scared:

1) being we will interview you.

but i think they interview most everyone from your message or seems like it

You took the EVMS interview date that I wanted 😀
So reluctantly I went with Nov 7 (a week after yours)

You're not alone...I'm little sad too but on the bright side, we didn't get rejected which means our priority score is "lower" than 3.5! 😍

CONGRATS everyone for those who got accepted today and i hope those that didn't get in yet will get in in december. i just wanted to tell everyone who hasn't had an update pre-interview. the wait is long but it is ok! i was complete 8/2 but did not hear until 10/13 the may message. from what i gather its the second best one and that hopefully will mean an interview and subsequently and acceptance for me because of all the good things about VCU i really really want to go there!

i'm right there with ya on that post! yes, gluck to everyone - we will make it through this long process. and vcu is awesome! cheers =)
 
Congrats to those with an acceptance, and good luck to those who are still waiting. It can be a long road but it's worth it. Keep yourself busy and enjoy life between acceptance dates. (Just to give you a little perspective, I was accepted July 18th 2007...three weeks before classes start. I had already given up hope.)

Congrats to all who got in and good luck to those waiting! I got my acceptance yesterday as well. I really, really liked the school.

Now, to hold a seat, we just have to pay the deposit and that's it? Is there something else? I'm pretty sure we don't have to send transcripts and stuff, but I just wanted clarification.

You also have to do the little "Matriculant File" thing as well - which consists of listing your veteran benefits, marital status, phonetic pronunciation of your name, etc. I don't think there's anything else you have to do in the next two weeks, but I'd go ahead and get as much of the paperwork in as possible (especially the in-state tuition form - you have to do it even if you're out-of-state) so you can have it in before financial aid packages come out.
 
Well while you guys/girls are basking in your acceptances, I somehow pulled off an interview invite today. Just as a reminder, I got the dreaded sub-committee message at the end of August.

Hey what is the subcommittee message? I got the "committee would like to review your file further" message. Is that worst or better?

That's the better message. The subcommittee says that they have some reservations about your application and a subcommittee will review your file before a final decision is made. So apparently there is hope for you even if you get that message!

So it seems VCU is still interviewing because I got my invite yesterday! 🙂 What sucks is that the the first available dates for interviewing are in Feb
 
I withdrew and there should now be a Dec. 18th date available.

The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. Please continue to check this site to learn when further action has been taken.

I would guess that this is the third most desirable message...First being: interview invite, second - committee is interested in your candidacy (see my post on this page, i got one of these a few days ago). So yours is probably the third most desirable saying that they are interested in reviewing your file further but are not sure whether they actually want to interview you...someone correct me if i'm wrong.

does anyone know when VCU stops giving interviews. i got the MAY hold message 10/13 and i am really hoping for an interview?

The last day they had was March 4th. There are about 12 interview days left right now... or maybe 11, cuz I might have taken the last Feb 4th spot...
