Oh wait, I'm a dork. This post explains that you don't need to have the "reviewed" message to get an answer. So anyone who read my posts and is in the same boat...there is still hope we may find out some news tomorrow

oh thanks for the info chimpanzee... I just saw it.

Sorry mz10!!!! I didnt mean to freak you out..maybe I was under the wrong impression as to how that works. just trying to help! hopefully good news tomorrow for us SDNers!!!

Oh no worries! You just told me what happened with you. And I wanted to know. Maybe that step is necessary, maybe not. I'll tell you tomorrow 😀
Good luck!

I'm surprised nobody has bumped this yet today. December the 15th is here. Here's hoping to hear something good!

Wow. I completely forgot. Thanks for reminding me 😳

I've been trying REALLY hard not to count down the days...I interviewed in September and didn't get accepted on Oct. 15th 🙁

Hopefully better luck this month!

Good luck to everyone :luck:

Anyone received an acceptance today? I haven't seen anything yet. I assume you can have no action taken today right and here nothing at all until February or March?

Same, Isis. I interviewed Sept. 11, so it's been a long wait so far.

Mike... no one will hear anything until 6:04 pm tonight. If you get an acceptance or rejection you'll receive an e-mail saying your status has changed (or you can go to your status page @ 6ish and keep hitting refresh). If you don't hear anything, then you'll have to wait until Feb 15, or maybe even March 1 before your decision is made.

Just hang in there guys, I'll be pulling for you. Just wait till the end of the day around 6 or 7. Good luck!!

Just FYI, I asked the admissions staff when I interviewed earlier this month and they said that if we don't make this round, the next time acceptances are sent out is on Feb. 1st. So if you don't hear from them today, that's the next chance.

Good luck everyone

Maybe it's Feb 1 and March 15. I might have confused them.

Good luck:luck: everyone who is anxiously waiting to hear today!

I interviewed there last Monday so even though the committee might have met to discuss our file today, i'll have to wait till Feb 1.:xf:

goodness this is nerve-wrecking. In the past week, I've gotten a pre-interview rejection from Cornell, post-interview rejection from Georgetown, and a post-interview-hold-"no decision made yet" letter from Maryland. This is not making me happy... Hopefully VCU will make me feel better!

you should send a nice letter to Maryland, it might help your chances!

Hm what should I write though? I don't really have anything in particular update-worthy, and I don't want to superficially say that their school is my first choice or anything along those lines quite yet... 😕

I am so nervous I am nauseated....anyone got any news yet??
Please don't make me wait till february!!!

Will they email me with a status update anyway if they haven't made a decision? Or would there be no status update or update emails AT ALL today if they haven't decided yet?

I'm just wondering, IF, I do not get any emails by like 6:10, if that means I have to wait until Feb...

I just got an email saying to check my updated status.

I have some other acceptances so I may end up dropping this one. Good luck guys!

February 1st here I come.

No e-mail is sent confirming hold. If your status isn't updated by now, then you're on hold.

Hold... Boo, i really liked this school. I guess ill have to save my party streamers and confetti for February

damnnit...with the rate im going i was like preparing myself to be like waitlisted or something now i have to wait 🙁 DAMNNIT!

You got an email letting you know of your still-hold status or do you mean you didnt get an email?

i got an email saying that my status had been updated. and when i check the page it said that i was still in consideration but placed on hold. I would find out in the following dates whether I am in, alternate, or out.

so i finally got the message about the dates!

when I was in virginia, i was told they had already interviewed and accepted too many people and they were going to slow down on acceptances. So that may be why so many holds. they may want to interview more people before they give out the seats taht are left.

anyway, I'm glad it's over, I can focus on my interview tomorrow...

congrats to all that got in!

I didn't get an email about a status change either...and February seems so far away!!! 🙁

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 15, December 15, February 1, and March 15.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in mid-March, or to notify you that the Committee will no longer be considering your file.

We thank you for your interest in our school.

so looking over previous posts, I'm still confused as to whether or not this is a bad message. I interviewed a few weeks ago, got the survey request update and then nothing until this message today. Does it mean they reviewed my file and have some reservations? Maybe my priority score is a 3 or something, so they're going to re-review at a later date? Or does it mean that they've reviewed my file, and I'll just hear later ie. it's a completely neutral message?

Congrats to those accepted:hardy:

...and for those still waiting, good luck and keep up hope.:luck:

just got the acceptance!! congrats to everyone that got it, good luck to those still waiting

ooo i still havent received an email so thats for sure im on hold?

to those who haven't received a status update...were you up for consideration back in October?

to those accepted, are you in state and when did you interview?

It is neutral. They score you and put you on a list according to score. When an acceptance day comes they decide how many people they will accept and take them from the top of the list. Since VCU does not make a waitlist until March 15th you have a chance at every acceptance date until then. It all depends on where you are on the list and how many people they are accepting that day.

Good luck next time, sorry you have to wait some more. I was accepted July 18, 2007, only 3 weeks before class started. I know how frustrating waiting can be.

Since the prevailing theme of this thread for months seems to have been "trying to figure out what VCU's messages mean," I guess I'll pose the newly begged question:

If a notification of acceptance is good, and a notice of hold not so good, then what is no notice at all?

In my case, I got an email shortly after interviewing in Nov that said my application had been placed on hold, I will be notified Dec 15, Feb 1, bla bla - yeah, you know the one... But today, I got nothing. Kinda confused on this.

Congratulations to all those who have been accepted.

I'm in the same boat. The only message I received before the hold message was the survey one. Then I just got the hold message today. Does this mean that we didn't make the cut this time around?

No e-mail is the exact same thing as a hold e-mail. That e-mail you got after your interview is the same one some people got today, that they're calling a hold e-mail.

Yep. You're still in the running for next time though. You won't hear anything today if you've already received the hold message-you won't hear anything at all until you are accepted or waitlisted.

See, this makes sense. However, when I originally received the hold email back in November, I came to this thread and asked "does this mean I'm on hold?" I think several people responded that it was a generic email sent to all post-interviewees and that it didn't signal anything about whether or not I would get a status update on December 15th (today).

However, it would seem that the case is that I (and many people) were officially placed on hold until at least Feb 1st LONG BEFORE Dec 15th.

I just wanted to clear that up. Why? Because I'm an SDN addict.
Dear God, what have I become? Oh mommy, hold me.

No e-mail is the exact same thing as a hold e-mail. That e-mail you got after your interview is the same one some people got today, that they're calling a hold e-mail.

so, I guess then, has anyone received this "hold status" message before a decision date (oct. 15th, dec. 15th, feb.15th, etc) and then get accepted on one of the decision dates? If yes, then maybe we can conclude that the hold status message is a generic post-interview message. Or are people only getting these messages on decision dates? If that's the case, then I think these are hold decisions and thereby making the hold status messages not so good.

Were any of you who received an acceptance today eligble for an acceptance on October 15th? I wonder how often those who receive an acceptance were at one time a no status update receiver (Other than waitlistees who are lucky enough to get in).

I was wondering this too. Is being put on hold a bad sign at VCU?

ok being on hold is simply like being on a waitlist, on dec 15th, feb 1st, and march 15th they accept ppl from that waitlist. everyone that interviews is placed on the waitlist and can get an acceptance at any point on those dates.

There are no rejections? So a hold could be good or be the same as a rejection depending on the rank?

No e-mail for me 🙁
