My school's general chemistry lab was only 1 credit, in the spring semester. :scared:

However, each of my two semesters of Chemistry was 4 credits. So I have fulfilled the total chemistry requirement of 8 credits. I have 8 credits lecture + 1 lecture lab.

What should I do? 😕 Thanks everyone.

bump?

Maybe I can list another 1-credit lab (Biochem Lab?) that I will be taking in the future?

I truly dont know and no one else probably does either...I would recommend calling GWU on this. Situations like this are usually handled on a case by case basis so its best to talk to admissions.

I have a question about calling admissions...do they request you identify yourself on the phone? I don't want to come off as an annoying pre-med if they can identify me?

Although they can narrow it down by my question...?

ahah i love sdn sometimes. Dude its totally cool they are not going to be like OMFG JOHNCALVIN YOU ARE BANNNEEED FROM MED SCHOOL GTFO. Its not annyoing to ask a legitimate question about something that is important such as filling out the secondary. Thats what they are paid to do. If it makes you feel better they often dont ask for anything, though sometimes ive been asked for named and amcas id...either way seriously dont worry over something so trivial, you sound ocd lol. You should ALWAYS ask the admission office over any legitimate question. Remember while SDN can be useful its a bunch of pre meds leading other pre meds...sorta like the blind leading the blind. Admissions offices give you an official word, sdn gives you some hearsay that some random pre med who you dont even know tells you.

I hope you get into a sweet med school, just because you "keep it real" on here.

what does "keeping it real" mean?

good luck to us all at GWU who are complete??!?! :luck::xf::luck::xf:

Don't worry, I meant it as a serious comment.

By "keeping it real" I meant the dude tells it like it is, even it's isn't in the typical politically correct/anal pre med fashion.

yeah elijah would tell you like it is. he's been through a lot and succeed. I hope people like him get in somewhere this cycle. heck..I hope i get in somewhere too. 😀

Dude placing first - I would definitely list that... academic or not - sort of your call. Learning to swim at 24? Yea, that's lame - especially if you're on a sailboat haha 😉

haha. thanks for your help! 🙂

Hey -

Just so everyone knows (though it may not be relevant as everyone seems to have already submitted...) they are totally okay with you using 6 lines for the question about the "non-academic accomplishment"... I just called the admissions office to make sure.

Yay!

Of course, it's okay. You actually called them?

haha well combing through this thread, people seemed to be very opinionated about the following-instructions and only doing 5 lines, so it got me paranoid 😳

i know, i'm super-neurotic. but at least SDN makes me feel like i'm not alone!😀

hi everyone,

quick question.
do you think being the only undergraduate teaching assistant for an upper division biology course counts as a non-academic accomplishment?

My suggestion would be to find another thing to talk about. When I read the words I put in bold above, I have a hard time imagining those as anything but academic, even if it's not you as a student. BUT, some folks are likely to have a more liberal interpretation of nonacademic than I have.

Edit: Perhaps if you focus almost exclusively on the non-academic impact upon the students you were a TA for, it might work. Still troublesome IMHO.

Agreed

I submitted mine early but only used 5 lines b/c they did bold it clearly. It's better safe than sorry.

on another note...GWU secondary thread has over 450 posts. unbelieveable!

you're right, I should think of something else to talk about.

Hmmm has anyone received a "complete" status?

yeah, a while ago.

Hmm, I turned mine in a while ago. I have the "Secondary Received" e-mail but my status doesn't say complete. My LORs were turned in a while ago. 😕

I feel your pain. I got the Secondary Received email on June 30 and still have yet to be complete. I called the admissions committee and they just said to be patient 🙁

considering at least 13k peeps apply here (more this year id assume) they are going to take a long time. No school gets as much as they do.

they receive boatload of apps. I would just wait it out.

I just received the complete email.😀

The date at the top of it says July 10, 2009....weird.

so i got the GWU secondary this morning (pretty amazing since i didnt submit my primary until last night at midnight) and for the non academic achievement essay, can we touch on something that was already said in our personal statement? It was the most important thing that has happened to me, but I talked about it in a paragraph of my personal already?

Think I should use something else?

Complete! Now time to sit back and wait...

Did anyone's status page blurb about being complete change to a much shorter blurb about being complete and under review?

After being much longer, mine became this today:

Your application is complete and currently under review.

I guess I know what the next message will say now. Hopefully that hold isn't permanent, Elijah!

Wow that was fast. Mine still says complete. I'm not under review yet. I'm wondering if it's done randomly. Maybe I'll hear something tomorrow.

Mine also says "has been reviewed". So when do you think they will extend interview invites?:scared:

hopefully its not permanent 🙂, but i suppose its better then you are rejeccted! Since GWU interviews the high stat people 1st it seems, as i assume most med schools do, I dont imagine i will be getting any interviews until later rounds like in nov/dec at the earliest. People like blue and other would probably be the 1st rounds of interviews.

I'm on hold, man. Damn.

I hope they give me an interview later. :xf:

good luck to all of us who are on hold. :xf::luck::xf::luck::xf:

Maybe they put everyone they review at this time "on hold".

This could be. I got the "hold" message too...

Has anyone received anything other than this post review (i.e. an interview offer or rejection)

For the "please indicate activities, coursework, etc." (2 lines) question,

we're not supposed to list all our coursework, right? We can just say "Full-time student, expected graduation in May 2010 with bachelor's in ____" ?

I'm on hold, man. Damn.
hmm i think we are all on hold then? I remember a past student or someone who interviewed there saying they interview high stats 1st that they are interested in then sorta go down the line. Maybe until august we are all on hold?
