Okay, so I know I have an interview for the 16th, but I cannot find the email anywhere, how bad is it to call?

Not a bad idea... it's better to call and confirm than show up at your interview feeling like an idiot and wishing you called. Mr. San Diego (the interview coordinator) is a really nice guy.

I have decided to withdraw from Jefferson. I hope someone who really loves Jefferson gets my spot!:luck:

Hey everyone,

Has anyone received a post-interview decision a week after their interview? The adcom said there was a 50/50 chance of this happening, but I would like to know if this has happened to anyone. Thanks, good luck to everyone on the application process.

I emailed Dr. Callahan a few days ago about where I stand with my application, and my chances of getting an interview.

She replied today and basically told me all I could do is wait and see... she said selecting 800 out of the 9000+ applications is daunting (which is understandable)...

I'm more freaked out now than before... haha... this school is really one of my top choices...

I've seen in other posts that the school has flat out told people they aren't getting an interview.

Do you guys think her not telling me yes or no is a good or bad sign? I probably shouldn't look so deep into things, but this is pretty important to me.

Blah... the admissions process is so stressful...

ncguy, I wouldn't worry about it. They're probably really busy with selecting interviewees, good luck.

I am considering submitting my secondary to jefferson. I submitted all my other secondaries by the first week of august and have yet to hear back from a lot of schools. Is it worth sending in a secondary this late into the application cycle? Their deadline is January 1st. Any suggestions? Thanks

If you don't mind the fee, go ahead. But it really is late.

I pretty much agree with blue elmo, its late but you really have nothing to lose (except for the application fee).

Just received an email saying I was placed on the alternate list - really bummed about it. JMC is my top choice and I felt the interview went well. I guess my MCAT is keeping me out, but I can still dream, right? Good luck to everyone applying this year.

Sorry, but yeah, 3J composite score is a tad bit too low.

What do you mean by alternate list? Is that the same as waitlist? When did you interview?

Thanks for the laugh blueElmo. I think the alternate list is their waitlist. I had my interview last week, so I guess they have a quick turnaround for people they don't want to accept immediately. I will be proactive and send routine updates about my current activities. Also, I think they said at the interview day that their alternate list does move

Also, you can send them a letter of interest or something as well. Good luck! I would really love an interview here.

Hey all,

Interviewed today. Probably the most laid back interview I have ever had. Student-Run Day made it really easy to get through the process without too much stress.

They informed us that the committee did meet today, but that they were going on break after this Friday for Holiday Break. Those of us that interviewed today won't hear until the first week on January at the earliest. I imagine that the committee won't be getting out any calls after Friday and until January. So...Happy Holidays!, try to relax and just enjoy family and friends!

interesting. We were told that "most of us" would hear by Christmas ... So could be that Committee might not be meeting anymore till next year but decisions already made in these committee meetings could be delegated over the next few days even into the next week? Dont know.

How do you send a letter of interest preinterview invite?

If you call the admissions office, one of the staff will send you an email, and you can reply to that email with a letter of interest as an attachment. Alternatively, you can send a letter via snailmail to the admissions office - their address is on the website.

Do you happen to know how effective LOI is at Jeff?

Hey does anybody have an idea when they start pulling people off the HP Wait List. I don't know if it's a continual process or if they only started after interview season ended. Thanks!

For people on the waitlist, did you receive an email indicating where on the waitlist you are? I think I remember them stating different levels of waitlist. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Ok out of 60 people interviewed since Dec 2, most of them should have heard by now ... It is shocking that either 1 of those 60 has heard or that non of those 58 are on sdn ... or they are and just dont want to post .... anyways ... a long wait of holidays now ... its going to be really stressful.

I interviewed on Dec. 9th and got the acceptance call from Dr. Callahan on Wed. Dec 16th. I was very surprised to hear after only 1 week, especially since no one else has posted... Has anyone else heard?

congrats. I am beginning to think that the delay between interview and acceptance call (if one does get it) highlights the passion with which Jeff wants you. And the delay, after passing a certain threshold (3 weeks maybe), can mean a waitlist and a rejection. In any case, such an outcome is gloomy and depressing, and every passing day is taking me closer to that threshold.

I haven't heard anything from Jefferson, which apparently is semi-good since I didn't get a formal rejection. I'm sending out update letters soon to some schools- would it be a good idea to send one to jefferson pre-interview?

It can't hurt. I might send one too.

Congratulations! I wish I had been accepted before break so I could hush up pushy relatives! (haha)..Actually, just to take some of the stress away. Well, have you heard from any other person who was accepted? I am just hoping that the admissions committee hasn't had their meeting about me yet...and that is why I haven't heard anything.

Does anyone know when Jefferson starts accepting people off the high priority list? They told us they are big on receiving letters to let them know of continued interest, and I am just wondering if it is a bit early to start bugging them?

Thanks everyone! As always, best of luck.

If I am not mistaken, in the email it tells you if you are on the "High Priority" or "Alternate" list. I don't know anything about a ranking within a given waitlist. Good luck!

So is alternate list a rejection in disguise? and how many days after your interview did you get the email?

If you are on the HP wait list, don't expect to hear anything until the end of the interview season. I've never heard of anyone being pulled from the HP list while interviews were still being conducted.

Never too early to start your campaign of letters/emails expressing continued interest. Send one at least weekly.

So is alternate list a rejection in disguise?

Effectively, yes. For the past 3 or 4 years, there have been quite a few people on the HP list who have not gotten in. And with relatively few exceptions, people on the HP list are taken first.

Just withdrew from here with an interview on 1/13. Hopefully someone here gets it. Good Luck!

Haha, thanks Luun. You rock.👍

I wish interviewees who withdraw can choose to whom they can give their invites to.

Man, this place has an awesome location. Love to get an interview here. Got one at Temple and Drexel, not here or Upenn. Damn.

Wouldn't (at least) weekly updates be more annoying than convincing?

Perhaps this method was effective for you, but I was under the impression that letters expressing continued interest with updates should only be sent when you have something significant to update the school with.

Agreed. I don't even know how you could write a "new" letter every week. There's only so much you can say.

I agree. I say no to weekly updates. It would come off as being too annoying. Just send one update and see what happens.

I should have known better to apply to a school that gets nearly 10,000 applications. I am pretty sure my application was tossed straight to the rejection bin without being reviewed.

Aww, I'm sure they gave you a good review. Maybe you'll get an invite, who knows?

is there a possibility of receiving Dr. Callahan's calls this week? I am too lazy to call the admissions office and ask...

I usually write monthly updates... I let them know how my clinic volunteer stuff is going and stuff like that.. I think weekly updates would be annoying, but I believe writing monthly lets them know that I'm legitimately interested in attending there..

We'll see... I never got a rejection the other week, so I'm still in the game...

*Shrug* Fine, then do it your way. I'm not selling anything. Just trying to give you some very good advice. And by the way, did I say anything about weekly "updates?" Most importantly, my suggestion applies post-interview, not pre-interview. I was replying to someone who was inquiring about when they start pulling people off the High Priority wait list (and thus assumably had been interviewed).

Just got a holiday letter from Jeff's admissions office. Everyone there is so freaking nice 😍

"Send one at least weekly" sounds like you suggested weekly correspondences.

I completely agree with you that, either pre- or post-interview, relevant updates and expressions of continued interest are important. However, after that has been initially established (in other words, after the first letter or two), you have to wonder what the marginal benefit of sending frequent e-mails when you provide little more information that can improve your chances.
