Yeah it was $100 to hold the spot
OMG! I never did that. Blah!

I wouldn't worry about it - they were supposed to send you something via snail mail after you got the call from Dr. Callahan. If they never sent it then they cannot hold you responsible for not sending your deposit. But I would definitely call them today and get that straightened out...now is not the time to shy away haha

Hey there! Similar question - i got the small acceptance letter and sent back the card without $100 (because there were no specific instructions... who to write the check to etc.), but I'm hoping that information will come with another (larger) acceptance packet? How long does it typically take to receive the acceptance packet with Banner ID info? I'm anxious to get financial aid rolling.
I called the admissions office and the woman I spoke to said (quite rudely might i add!) that it would "come in time." useful. not really.
thanks in advance for your help - and congrats! sounds like you have lots of great options!

For those on the wait-list, or just curious about admission numbers. Here's the count as of May 5th (this stuff is reported on monthly at student council meetings, whose minutes get sent out to the entire class):
.9742 apps, 422 spots offered, 122 withdrawn.
As May 15th approaches, the withdrawal rate will probably go up, so there's still hope.
Thank you, that is very helpful! So as of May 5th, the class is only about 50 people overbooked. Doesn't sound too bad.For those on the wait-list, or just curious about admission numbers. wow so out of 800 interviewees, 422 were offered an acceptance?
And right now only 300 acceptances are outstanding.
So out of the other 400 or so interviewees, maybe 200 got HP waitlist and 200 got alternate list (with ~0 rejections)?
Damn, its not looking good for me on the alternate list.
sorry bud, alternate list = basically a rejection at schools with a high priority list
lil out of context here, but do most ppl receive at least some kind of scholarship here at jeff? or are they pretty selective about it.
I have questions about that too. Have they given scholarships in past years? Do they only offer them to direct acceptances or can waitlistees get them too? Are they merit based, need based or some combination of the two?
Jefferson gives some scholarships out, but most of them are need-based. A good chunk of people end up doing work study (either research, or bridging the gaps, which is a community program) the summer after their 1st year to make money. I have no idea whether waitlistees can get the scholarships, but I'm pretty sure everyone's eligible for work study.
As an aside, Jefferson has been in the news recently because Joe Biden's son is currently at TJU Hospital due to a mild stroke (you could tell when he arrived because there was a convoy of cop cars and a helicopter hovering over Jefferson). He was initially treated at Christiana, which is one of Jefferson's affiliates and a relatively popular place to do 3rd yr rotations.
Interesting. Biden took his mom to HUP fairly frequently. There were also news trucks parked outside on "Biden" days. DE is practically part of Philadelphia.
Has anyone yet received an on-campus housing offer from Philadelphia Management?

I don't recommend the on-campus housing. Philadelphia Management is horrible, and you can find a nice place with more character just a little bit south of campus (locust, spruce, pine street).
Has anyone from the high priority waitlist heard anything yet?

I'm on the HP waitlist and I haven't heard anything yet either
Just got the call today from Dr. Callahan, very excited...but also very confused now. I am 50/50 about coming here or staying with my other school. At least though there seems to be some movement! I was on HP list
hey all,
i originally posted this on the 2010-2011 thread by accident. anyway, i was wondering if there is a school-specific discussion board for Jefferson for admitted students? i was recently accepted, and wanted to see where or how to get in touch with other class of 2014 people. i already joined the Facebook group, but is there anything in these forums, or anywhere in Jefferson's network?
thanks
I was looking for this too! Perhaps we can create one in the Allopathic Class Threads.
to those succesful jerfferson applicants, congrats. Is the "optional" section really optional on the secondary? Would you recommend doing it? I don't know if theres anything specific I would want to add- could it be wise to explain your interest in the school here?
any recent wait list movement?
I got in off the waitlist more or less recently and then deferred... so that's one spot open for someone - hope one of you guys gets it!
