What happens when you do that interview request, is it just an automated thing or do you talk to someone?

Does anybody know what day of the week the admissions committee meets for evaluation of a candidate? Thanks!

Anyone know about a second look day? Sorry if this has already been asked, this thread gets so many posts!

Also - there is no facebook group for jeff 2014 is there?

My status page has changed and now has a scheduled interview date. Invited for an interview on March 3rd. I was complete in October.

Did they send you an email?

No, I think the system generates an email the night that your status page changes. I've noticed a lot of people get the emails at like 1am... So I'll post if thats true tonight.

Yea, I got an email a few hours ago, invited for the 3/10..anyone else interviewing on that day?

Hello,

Anyone here get an intw with a low-ish GPA (ie 3.4) and a jefferson-avg mcat (ie 33)?

i know that after the intw, the entire committee reviews the entire file. so does that mean they go back and look at the gpa and mcat a lot?

I haven't read anything about second look day yet...but last year, correct me if I'm wrong, but it was in the first weekend of May?

There is no FB group yet! I don't think there's a Jeff Class of 2014 thread under the allopathic class threads either.

I did not even know those threads existed - but I could definitely go for a facebook group! I will make one if I decide for sure to go here - I live in Philadelphia so I would love to meet some classmates before school starts!

It has been 3 weeks since my interview day. was put on high priority list. was wondering if it is too soon to send an update letter? It seemed like they encouraged update letters a lot, but I don't want to seem impatient.

I agree... I'm pretty excited for second look.

I would send a letter. It'll show your enthusiasm and interest in the school and also, you'll feel better afterward knowing you've done what you can do.

I did with a 3.4c GPA and 29 MCAT. It truly is impossible to say how much they go back and look at your numbers post-interview, but if you interview well there is no reason why you can't be accepted. Overall I feel if they offer you an interview, the school thinks you are academically qualified. The interview gauges you as a person and your potential to be a physician. Then the committee puts both parts together in their meeting and tries to decide if they see you as a good fit. Basically just cross your fingers, cause it won't always make sense.

whoa whoa whoa, jefferson has a request an interview thing?? how does this work?????

i was complete around mid october... and it seems like they are getting to october people now, so maybe i should give it about 2 weeks and try that.

Jefferson's Average MCAT is about 31/32 not 33.

you are wrong. My interview was in Dec and was good. I still have not gotten any acceptance even after 1.5 month. If they dont like me, they should at least send me a rejection email so that I can move on with my life. 😡

Killing me softly with this waiting ...

Interviewing on Wednesday... any tips or advice? What's the vibe of the interview day? Anything I should be on the look out for?

Also... does anyone have any thoughts of Jeff compared to Temple? Differences in attitude, faculty support, public health emphasis in curriculum, service focus... anything would be helpful!

I think the Interview Feedback page has some great info. Anyways, good luck.

I don't see how that makes me wrong. I understand your frustration but just remember, not hearing anything doesn't automatically mean bad news, especially at a place like Jeff where you're interviewer physically needs to be at the meeting to make a decision. I 100% agree that waiting for a decision that long sucks. I was giving my point of view but also saying that stuff doesn't always make sense with the process. I hope you'll hear good news soon.

I understand what you mean. The thing though is that my interviewer has already attended the meeting ..... and he did not tell me in the email about the decision, I guess interviewers do not have the leeway to release that info ... but if it was good info, I must have gotten call from Dr. Callahan by now ... but they should at least send me a rejection email by now to put the final nail in the coffin of my app and relieve me of my suffering.

i was addressing the question to 3.4ers who've interviewed

any sub-3.5ers been accepted with average mcats yet?

ps - i think jefferson's average is 33.. it went up by a lot this past year
the msar does not have the latest news

I've heard that once you get an interview at Jefferson your odds of acceptance go up to like 60%. Is this true? I've noticed that the majority who've gotten responses post-interview from the school on this thread were either HP waitlist or accepted...

We shall see I suppose....

Yes that is true. Unfortunately, I am in the minority.

From all of you who got interviews (people who applied late and early), does submitting and being complete really increase your chances even more? Does submitting late hurt your chances too...I know this is the case for all med schools generally but I would like to know especially for Jeff.

When you call the Jeff Office of Admissions and you hear their main menu, there is one option to "request an interview". I have heard that it lets you leave a voicemail and someone gets back to you, although I cannot directly verify this myself.

Tips or advice: As I've stated before in this thread...go to the optional cookie hour! Introduce yourself to Dr. Brooks and Dr. Callahan and make a good impression!

Overall, the interview is very relaxed, so just be yourself!

For Jeff vs. Temple, someone recently started a thread about that: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=689519

At our interview, they told us that they interview approx. 800. With a class size of 255, your chances of getting in are about 30% not including spots for people who are accepted and decide not to attend and people who are waitlisted.

Collosalmockery, don't worry! Jeff sends rejection emails, and you haven't received an email yet...there's still hope. :luck:

I think I saw in 2007 they made between 500-600 offers for acceptance... thats quite a lot!

8897 applied, 805 interviewed, 521 were accepted, 259 enrolled

😱 So strange. I want to do this as I really would love an interview here but it seems like it would be super awkward.

BEEEEEP

"Oh hey... Just calling because I really want an interview here. Here's my AMCAS ID and my email. Get on that. Thanks! ::click:: "

I don't think its dumb if you're sincere in what you say...

Thank you. From what I've been seeing on this thread, people who have been left in limbo like me, they usually ended up getting rejection emails .... Jeff calls/informs those promptly who actually get in.

i've actually called in and asked what that was about.

the lady said its to request an interview date if you've been offered an intw
and that its an older option
from before they switched to how they do it now

so evbdy.. just relax

Did you interview at Jefferson last year?

Ahh guess I won't call tomorrow then.

anyone here know if the class is or isn't nearly full?

ie) would i just be interviewing for waitlist spots at this point? or no..
how does their system work..?

no
why would u think i did lol

i just called the office like a few months ago
just to check if my app was complete and all

I remember you from WAMC forum and I think you said you were a reapplicant . Thought you said you interviewed and got waitlisted somewhere.

From what they said at the interview day, they hand out spots week to week, meaning that the class won't be filled until the end of the interview cycle. If they have a week of weak interviewers, they may pluck one or two off of the waitlist.

yea and plus, if you really want to request and interview, do it through a well written letter mailed to the admissions office. It's more sincere that way. A voicemail is not a good look.
