Check your Interview tab. I got an interview date today. Good luck to all!

If you dont mind me asking, when did you submit your secondary? I'm trying to get a feel for when they would notify candidates of interview status.

Thanks! I sent mine in then too...yet have not heard anything.

They do not give you an interview until you get all of your LOR's in so make sure they have all of them. Good luck, I am sure you will get one soon.

fahimaz7-

how long after your interview did you have to wait to hear whether you got in or not...was it done all at one time?

just waiting on that secondary...

Historically, all MCG EDP acceptances are mailed out at the end of September. I think that our letters were postmarked on the 26th. Good luck!

I got an interview invite today. Kind of takes a little bit of pressure off. Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard back yet and to those who received invites. Let's crush these interviews.

What week are they up to? Last year they stopped interviewing the first week of September..

I dunno it's weird. The only dates I could chose from were August 13th-19th during the weekdays. Couldn't do after that.

anyone know when non-EDP applicants get the secondary?

I think they'd wait until nearly all the EDP applicants were processed before sending out more secondaries. The good news is tomorrow is basically the last day to submit for EDP, and the regular-decision secondaries should follow within a week or two.

Of course, this is all founded by rationalizing the process, but if you read the other threads on the pre-med forum it seems it's anything but rational

They gave us a choice of 7 days Mon-Friday (13th-21st). I imagine that they will wrap up interviews during the first full week of September and then vote and then send out acceptances/deferrals/rejections. From what I read on last years thread, it seems like the first week of September was the last round of interviews. Its going to be a long month...

I got an interview invite today! I was so relieved since I was getting worried just a bit.. I was able to pick from August 13 through 24th, but not 14th.. I guess that day is already all taken??

Now to prepare for the interview... is there anything you guys are doing/reading/practicing for it? I've heard that it's pretty laid back but hmmm-

i had a bunch of letter of recommendations from faculty, but did not realize that one was preferred to be from a personal reference. how important is it to have one? i submitted everything else a while back, including the rec letters i already had, but i got an email saying that the admissions committee looks for these other letters. anyone else having this issue?

Yeah I think that you need 3 letters minimum for MCG. 1) letter from pre-med advisor/committee (this would be your faculty letters) 2) personal reference letter (preferred from a doctor or health professional) 3) personal reference letter from anyone who is not related to you. I think you have to have all three letters in before you can apply. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I called today and was told that if you have a letter packet from your pre-med advisor/committee that the professors in that can be the personal reference. I also have a letter from a physician in the packet, and was told to just list the names of the physician and professors and email it to the same address that sent me the secondary. Thats what the admissions office told me but I may call again to double check.

does anyone know typically how long it takes for them to send out interview invites once you have submitted your secondary application?

EDP or regular? If it's EDP, anytime between now and the first part of September. If it's the later, who knows...You could potentially get invited in September, or it could be March before you hear anything.

FYI, the 2009 entering class was:

GPA 3.69
MCAT 30.4

~1,050 GA residents applied
~1050 OOS residents applied
~530 Interviewed

oh ok thanks. i applied EDP but my secondary was just submitted on the 5th

Ditto. Yay! 🙂

Regular applicant here... Received and submitted secondary today! Woohoo!

I have a question regarding the LORs. My committee composite letter uploaded to AMCAS includes a letter from the premed committee and 4 additional letters attached to it, which came from 3 academic professors and an employer. For the required 3 letters including a committee letter and two personal letters, Do I still have to gather another 2 personal letters in addition to the committee letter + 4 individual letters?

I believe you can specify letters within the packet to be used as personal LoRs and not worry about sending 2 extras. The admissions office would need to know, however, so you should call and ask how exactly they want you to choose which letters you want to use.

Got my secondary yesterday and submitted today 🙂

Question about the secondary. On the "Additional Information" where it asks the two free-response questions, how detailed were y'all and how much space did you use? I'm just wondering what the expectations are.

Thanks!

On the first question about geography, I used ~250 characters. I was as specific as I could be, but nothing like, "I plan on practicing in X-town..." On the second question about unusual experiences, I used ~2000 characters.

I think I'm just going to use the additional info section to talk about my experiences over the past summer and this upcoming fall (I'm taking a year off). Do you think that's a bad idea? Should I add something about why I'm unique, or why I want to go to MCG, etc?

Another question - under the parents section, what does "date began" and "date end" refer to?

Some of the questions in this application are just silly. And hard to understand.

I think each applicant uses that section to talk about any relevent topic that isn't stated somewhere else in the application.

Interviews start on Thursday.. GL everyone.

Is anybody else having problems uploading a picture?
Or, if you're not, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Check your photo size. It may be too large a file.

Just out of curiosity.

My last LOR was finally received by the admissions office so my app is now complete. I was curious how long after this point did most of you guys get your interview invites? Asking about EDP, btw.

So you kayak?

So you kayak?

How can you tell?

Seriously though, yes I've done my fair share of boatin'. I used to paddle religiously, but being a premed doesn't yield many opportunities to go boatin' when the nearest whitewater is 6 hours to the north. If I don't have too many tests to study for there are loads of steep creeks in western NC. I imagine it is the same for you in med school. Do you ever get to huck the gnar anywhere near Augusta?

i had to wait basically two weeks until my file was complete to hear about an interview, although there were some problems with my LORs in the meantime, so it might have taken longer for me.

There's nothing worth kayaking near Augusta. The closest whitewater is the Green, which is 2.5 hours from Augusta. In theory you might be able to go kayaking every-other weekend (we test every 14 days and mostly on Friday).

The Park is way too far away to go kayaking, so count me out of Raven, WP, etc 🙁

We do have good disc golf and mtn biking though!

Apparently, it needs to be a JPG, in case anyone else has problems.

my secondary was complete aug 5th and i got an interview invite the 12th for next week

To anyone who has already had an interview with MCG, what can I expect as far as the setting of the interview? Is it one on one or for a panel, are there students on the board? Any help would be great! Thanks!

There's one interview and it's with an admissions committee member. There are 3 students on the committee.

Do they email you when you are complete?

Do they email you when you are complete?

dont think so. you can just check under the status tab and it will say whether or not they've recevied your LORs and it says when your secondary is submitted. you can always call the admissions office if you have any questions. they are very helpful
