*sigh*

Anyone still not small pooled? I mean, 31 MCAT here, in state, and interview invite last year (for a wait list)... yet its like I don't excist this year. Not a single small pool or email from anyone yet. 😕

I hear ya. Not a word from this school. My status continues to glare: no messages at this time. Which I suppose is better than an outright rejection.

all I can say is, g'luck to us in the big. cold. pool. :luck:

although, I bet that cuzzie is nice.

Oh I know -- still wading out here. Freezing my butt off. I guess it's still early, which is what I keep telling myself.

Don't worry about it guys. A lot of people receive interviews and acceptances from MCW after Christmas and the New Year. I am sure they have a lot of highly competitive applicants this year, so don't take it personally! Hang in the ball game, and when you're up, hit a home-run! It may take a month of two for MCW to give more interviews. I was complete in late August, and I have not heard anything either. Although I have heard back from Wisconsin, which is weird! Anyways, hang in there!! There's LOTS of time left!!

idk, I think the small pool is getting crowded

Yeah, ~ 1700 applicants get small-pooled so they definitely can't offer everyone interviews. boo!

I'm just waiting for someone named "BabyRuth" to get small pooled so that everyone jumps out. :meanie:

agreed, I feel like there are too many people in this small pool for us to all get interviews.

But I will hippocratically tell everyone not to worry, according to some posts from earlier, they send out interviews in bunches each month and it seems no one on SDN has recieved them since like August so we all have a good chance still from September - December

SDN is relatively misleading. Numbers of applicants, interviews and everything else cannot be judged. I mean, only a few of many premeds use this forum. Small-pool may be crowded, but it can't be judged from this forum. Stay positive

Good luck to all!

Hehe you mean hypocritically? No Hippocratic oath yet...🙂

Rejected... knew they hated me. Why did the dean tell me to reapply? They wanted my money. 😡

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that too. I'm a reapplicant, OOS, and from your MDapplicant file your academic stats look all better than mine, but I got small-pooled 9-21 when complete 7-31. Your extracurriculars seem decent, maybe you can try to get more leadership roles? Or just reflect on how any of your past experiences may show leadership.

Or could it be your personal statement or a bad letter? I can't imagine why you're rejected, so maybe you could look for some reason within your application that is lacking. Or you should try calling them and ask for why you're rejected. Good luck with your other schools, those are great choices too!

I think you are a little overqualified, buffywannabe. You have quite a high MCAT score and if I were MCW I would anticipate you getting into some higher ranked schools and preferring to attend those. MCW is a great school and I would love to get an interview there, but looking at it from their perspective, they may not want to waste interview slots on candidates who will get into better schools and most probably not matriculate at MCW

This was the closest school to my family. It was highly ranked on my radar.

do they send rejections by email?!

no regular mail

Hey everyone,

It looks like they are sending out invites today; my roommate got one this morning. Buena suerte a todos!!!!!! :luck::xf:

got an invite 😀 my very first one. scheduled for 11/6

invite for me too! small pooled 8/18 and i'll also be there 11/6!

My computer is having trouble opening the thing about the AMWA lunch . . . any other ladies interviewing at MCW want to share what that is about?

for those who got invites today, when were u guys small-pooled? i was small-pooled last week so i'm wondering if they already looked at my small-pool batch. thanks!

Those who received the invite today, did you get it around 10:00AM?

Bummer. I was small-pooled on 8/18 as well and nothing here. Looks like I'll be waiting for another month?

Since MCW is rolling admissions, at what point is an individual basically interviewing for for a waitlist spot?

I am not looking for an argument about how many/few get off the waitlist, but more so when I should start worrying about not receiving an invite.

My application was complete on 8/20 and I have yet to hear anything from them, should I pretty much be looking for my rejection in the mail?

i was complete for over a month before i even got small pooled. i was kind of shocked to get an invite actually. you just never know.

Those of you who have interview invites, what was your MCAT score if you don't mind sharing? I've been small-pooled since early July and haven't heard anything since...

First Interview Invite!!!! So pumped! Love this school and would love to go there.
33M/4.0 IS complete around 8/13🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
11/6 was filled and I had an exam on 11/20 so I'm going 12/6. Hope that doesn't matter too much for the rolling admissions :/

For those of you who are curious, MCW is in fact sending out rejections already. My letter was postmarked 9/25. (The letter itself was dated February 27, 2009, which is a little dubious in my mind).

Sorry koko... hopefully you'll have lots better luck with your other schools.

Got mine today too. Didn't check the date seeing as how I burned the letter when I got inside, lol. Then I got realy worried the smoke alarm was going to go off and had to open all the doors. Oh well.

They will tell you in interview invitation email if you are:
1. interviewing for a spot in the class
or
2. interviewing for a waitlist spot

Many of my classmates interviewed for a waitlist spot. But the waitlist movement fluctuates.

haha -- yeah, the date on the letterhead seems a little shady to me. But good luck to everyone else!

The date on the letterhead for my rejection was February 27, 2009...interesting...

Probably a form letter they keep on file. Whoever was working in the office that day sending them out must've forgotten to change the date. 😛 Guess I'll be watching the mailbox just in case.

So maybe I'm an idiot but can someone elaborate on what "small pooled" means? Thanks...

Applicants who have been reviewed favorably are put into a smaller pool of applicants from which interview invites are given out. Out of all applicants ~1700 get put into this smaller pool and much fewer get interview invites. MCW has said that applicants who are invited to interview must first be small-pooled but some applicants on this forum have said that they received invites without getting the e-mail saying they were small-pooled, so what exactly it means is anyone's guess. MCW did just recently begin rejecting applicants by snail mail who did not receive small-pool e-mails so I would still say getting small-pooled is a good thing. Good luck!
