I just got an interview invite for Sinai today for next Thursday! I love NYC so I definitely wanted to check out the schools there. It may be close to the end of the interview cycle (or the actual end) but I'm still happy to go. Also, I live relatively close and know some people there so it's no biggie. Hopefully there are still a few interview spots left for some of you guys!

Looks like I'm on the same boat as Xoyes and deaninja, just got my interview invite today. Yea its real short notice esp for being a socal resident, but its a great school in a great city and I'd be crazy not to accept an invite : D Good luck to those who just recently got interviews!

Anyone hear back from MSSM about acceptance/waitlist??

I guess we'll all get antsy and anxious on Wednesdays until the end of this process huh? Hopefully they'll send out some decisions today but from last year it seems like all of us who interviewed in February won't hear until the middle-end of this month (when interviews end).

Feb 1 interviewees were told a late Feb meeting with decisions in first or second week of March. The Feb 23 meeting seems like it matches up. Aaand this is the first week! We'll see.

Congrats to you all who recently got interviews!

I just sent them an update/pretty please give me an interview letter. I also mentioned that I'll be in NYC next week. I figure I don't really have anything to lose at this point right? I would love love love an interview here. *fingers crossed* (even though its extremely unlikely)

At this point you have done all that you can do. I know that next week is their final week of interviews, and there were some spots available when I had to reschedule on Friday. Whether those are still available is beyond me, but hey its worth a shot! Good luck!

Just out of curiosity, did you have your interview yet?

I also received a last minute invite for next week. Any specific advice about interviewing at Sinai?

I did indeed! The admissions office staff was able to fit me into an interview earlier this week, which was excellent! Really enjoyed my day at Sinai and am hoping for a miracle (I understand it is harder to get in at the end of the cycle versus the beginning). All of the students just seemed genuinely happy there, which certainly has not been the case for multiple other schools I have seen.

Anyone who is on the fence about going to see this school, even though its late, I would advise you to check it out.

Can anyone who has already interviewed describe the interview day? And when did you finish? Thanks!

Great to hear, glad things worked out 👍

8-9 (I think that's right) General presentation on Mount Sinai
9-9:30 Short talk about the rest of the day from one of the Assistant Directors of Admissions + short break before interviews
9:30-11:30 2 half hour interviews with faculty members and/or students. During the down time between your interviews students stop by to chat (and pick up the left over breakfast food items in the admissions waiting room!)
11:30-12 Sobering but honest financial aid discussion, haha.
12-1 Lunch with students
1ish-2ish Tour including student housing, medical school classrooms, anatomy lab, simulator room, etc.
2ish Day ends

That timeline is as accurate as I remember... may be off by a half hour or so in some places.

Hope that helps!

Does anyone know when next meeting is or when next set of decisions should come out?

the next set of decisions, for interviews that took place in early Feb (maybe very late Jan too), is believed to be released Wednesday.

cool, thank you. If you don't mind, did you call them or how did you know it would be wed?

Do you know how early Feb? If I don't hear anything, how many weeks is it between decision releases?

Heyy quick question -- im post interview and I was wondering if anyone knows where to send an update to? and who to address it to??

thanksss!!

Do you guys that just recently got interviews (have them scheduled for next week) think that we are just interviewing to get on the waitlist? As in, there are no more direct acceptances to Mount Sinai?

Just wanted to wish good luck to everyone!

Sinai was one of my favorite interview experiences (and where I'm attending medical school next year at this point in this process). It's an awesome, and even if you're waitlisted I think there's a fair amount of movement so don't give up hope. About ~44% of interviewees are eventually accepted. That's pretty high for a Top 25 school.

Do we have reason to believe they will be making announcements today (other than our eternally springing hope)? It seems like this is the last week of interviews so maybe they'll wait until next week or the week after? Good luck to everyone if they do indeed send out decisions!

i hope they dont wait until the week after... it looks like last year's final round of decisions went very unfavorably for most SDNers

thread history suggests the decisions come out between 12 and 3 est...:xf:
unless somebody wants to call them and ask directly? 😀

I sure hope I was wrong!

I was under the impression that decisions were coming out today. I am surprised that no one on the board got a waitlist or accept. I certainly didn't. this leads me to believe that either all SDNers on this board were rejected or that it hasn't come yet. Feb 1 interviewers were told first two weeks of March. There was consensus on the boards that decisions tend to come out on Wednesdays. First Wednesday passed. Business hours today (the second wednesday) have now passed in New York.

Did anyone else interview in the first two weeks of Feb and not receive notice yet? Can someone else confirm that they were told "first two weeks of March"?

I recently interviewed and they mentioned that the admissions committee is meeting on Friday to discuss the last group of interviewees. Acceptances/WLs will be sent out next week via email, and rejections after that via snail mail. Hope that helps!

I interviewed in the first week of February and they actually told our group that we would receive a decision by the end of February. I still have not heard anything yet either (unfortunately) so I am thinking that they are probably just waiting until next week to do one big batch.

Hopefully we will all get some good news next week.

I interviewed in the second week of February and was told "3 - 6 weeks". Not terribly surprised I haven't heard back yet since it's kind of a busy time for them...

don't PORTAL acceptances come out monday?

Did you get the sense that they were sending out all decisions next week? I also recently interviewed (early last week) and they said 3-6 weeks. But it would be nice to hear sooner!

Yeah, they said that the adcom meeting this Friday would be the final one in terms of deciding the last batch of interviewees that they have yet to make a final decision on. They probably will have more meetings in the future to decide waitlist movement.

to those of us still waiting to hear from Sinai PRE-INTERVIEW...i just read on the secondary app page that we can call on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-4pm to check the status of our application.

this may be the only way to find out if we were rejected or not. (Loyola is similar in this respect - you can call on their designated day and find out if you were rejected pre-interview).

but there was a feb 23 meeting for the 1st two weeks of feb interviews, right?

and no one from those weeks has heard yet? =\

I interviewed Feb 1 too. Your right, they definitely mentioned accepted/WL decisions coming out in the first two weeks on March. Still- chances are that not everyone on SDN has been flat-out rejected. So, I'm guessing we will have to wait another week or so..

The idea that there were decisions released in the last 2 weeks and that noone on SDN got wait listed, let alone accepted, would lead me to believe that no announcements have been made since the 2/10 announcements. Last year they seemed to wait until the end of the interviews to make the final set of acceptance/wait list/rejections (prior to wait list movement); that would appear to fit with what's happening this year as well. Hang in there everybody, news should be coming in the next week or so.

I apologize that this is off-topic from the most current posts, but for those of you waitlisted, what should we be doing at this point to try to get off the waitlist? are we really not going to hear anything until after May 15th? i submitted my fafsa for fin aid in case i get off the waitlist, but other than that i've been just waiting....

also, for current Sinai students who got in after being waitlisted, any input?
i got waitlisted in november...hoping there's still hope! haha

I caved and called the office... I interviewed the first week of February, I think on the same day as you, KGill. They said our day will come up at the next meeting. Although I'm not sure when that is, this thread seems to indicate that it's Wednesday?

Did you interview on Friday??

Hopefully we will get some good news on Wednesday! I've been a little anxious each week when Wednesday rolls around.

you didnt ask when the next meeting is? last year the "next meeting" after early feb was early april 🙄

according to the original email, PORTAL acceptances were supposed to go out today. Doesn't look like that is happening though.

I got an email from PORTAL at 4:30. I was put on the waitlist. 🙁
Oh well. Good luck to everyone else

Sorry man, last Friday was their last day of interviews. I hope everyone who interviewed in March recently finds out this week too.

Hey guys, quick question.
When writing to Dr. Parkas, should we address her as Dean Parkas? I can't find anywhere online that she's the Dean of Admissions but my interviewer explicitly referred to her as Dean of Admissions.

Thanks!

who is dr. parkas? is she the smaller young woman who was cracking all the jokes?

also...is today... d-day?
