who is dr. parkas? is she the smaller young woman who was cracking all the jokes?

also...is today... d-day?

dr. parkas was the woman who came in and talked the majority of the morning. then came the young woman who cracked those jokes and was very casual. dr. parkas was informative and casual

Dr. Parkas is the Dean of Admissions. It's her first year so maybe that's why it's not updated online. You can call her Dr. Parkas, Dean Parkas, whichever you prefer.

anyone wanna call and figure out when theyre gonna send emails next? 🙄

last wave of decisions was late afternoon (4ish+ EST) on a wednesday...
so..

3 more hours?

im pretty sure that last year the last wave was on april 6th or some ridiculous date like that

I hope it's today:luck::luck::luck:! I don't want to wait until april

I just called them. I interviewed Feb 1, and they said that they haven't made a decision yet for me but there is a meeting later this month (she wasn't sure when). So, not sure if decisions will be coming out today...its possible that "no decision" is just a euphemism for being rejected haha.

Did it sound like any decisions had been made? It sounds like they haven't met yet

unless im completely deluded, I remember us Feb1'ers being told that a decision committee would convene in late feb and our decisions would be out in the first two weeks of march. looks like decisions were not made on us yet, however, which would explain why in week 3 theres no word.

/oops

edit: we were also told that decisions would be out in 3-6 weeks. this is our 6th week post-interview.

do any of you know when they will give out merit scholarships? thanks in advance 🙂

Here's our incredible match list for this year.

wow that's a pretty amazing match list. especially if you want to end up in california. almost everybody was either at ucla, ucsd, ucsf, or stanford

a couple of us interviewed feb 1 and havent heard. they told us 3-6 weeks and today is the last day of the 6th week. so... not sure.

I interviewed late Feb, we were told that we would hear late March - Early April

I was there on the 9th of this month, and I am pretty sure the Asst. Dir. of the adcom say that she wasn't sure when the next meeting would be... Either two or three weeks from that date (so either this past week or next week).

I am personally not worrying about it until this coming Wednesday (and/or the following Wednesday). Can't really call now because status checks are only on Mon/Wed. 🙄

Does anyone know when financial aid info will come out?? I haven't gotten any forms to fill out from Sinai though I put them down on my FAFSA...

I think you have to fill out something on Need Access. And then maybe give them a call? I'm pretty sure they want a copy of your and your parents 2009 Tax return. I'm actually gonna try and do it this weekend so I'll let you know when I look into it. There was stuff about this in the folder they gave us on interview day.

oh gosh, I think I lost that folder somewhere in October.... where is the Need Access form??

look in the initial email offering you a place in their class (aka the best email i ever received). there's a link on there for accepted students. on the link is a financial aid link which tells you exactly what you need to turn in. basically if you want need based aid, turn in your fafsa, need access, their whole financial aid form (which is on the website), your tax returns and your parents tax return. if you don't want need based aid, it's just the fafsa, the first and last page of the financial aid form and your tax return

Just called the Admissions office, and they said the adcom is having their meeting this week for final decisions on the last batch of interviewees.

Those of us that interviewed in the past two weeks should finally have an answer this week... GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!:luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:

meeting to decide doesnt mean releasing decisions. did they tell you that theyll release decisions this week or are you inferring?

Has there been any more info sent out about the second look weekend?

Don't think so. I think it's definitely an arrive on Friday afternoon/evening thing. Go out and party with the students that night. Activities/tours/talks during the following day on Saturday. Then heading home! It would be nice to know so I can book train tickets.

Yeah, also, there seem to be a few schools this week...tought to determine which to go to!

The lady that answered the phone in the admissions office said that we would actually know decisions this week after the meeting. I asked her whether we would actually hear something, and she confirmed as such.

Hopefully this week will bring some good news to a bunch of us who are waiting. :xf:

Good luck all...I know Sinai has a tendency to waitlist late interviewees (early interviews are definitely an advantage). But, I think there were definitely some late acceptances given out. Good luck 'all...and if you don't get in now, I'm pretty sure the waitlist does move.

Yeah I know... I have been so anxious lately that my intestines have stopped cooperating with me :scared:

Does anyone know the exact address to which we are supposed to have our transcripts sent? Thanks!

I need to get on this too. Has anyone done the drug test thing yet too? I gotta dig up those papers.

I sent my transcript to the address on the letter of acceptance...I don't have it in front of me now but it was something like:

Mount Sinai School of Medicine
One Gustave L. Levy Place
New York, NY 10029-6574
212-241-6500

But it had Annenburg Building and Box #

Annenberg Building, Room 5-04.
Also, it's 212-241-6696.

Hope that helps!

I looked into this. There are no centers within 100 miles of where I live. I talked to Admissions, and they said not to worry because there is no due date on it. I can go to an NYC location the week before school starts.

Could today really be the day for news.....????? I definitely couldn't sleep last night!

Fingers crossed... feels like it might be. Of course I've thought that every Wednesday for about the last 3 weeks, so who knows at this point. If noone hears anything today it could be this Friday too... last year it looks like the last spat of announcements went out on a Friday.
