I interviewed 11/2 and no news yet! Does your status page tell you when a decision letter has actually been sent? Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow, although it's still within the 8-12 week range...

My acceptance email said that the decision letter was mailed the same day, however the field on my status page is still blank.

I was complete back in Sept. but have gotten no word from them

was wondering if you guys could give me some feedback

i have a 3.45/34Q.

I have a 3.62 in my first semester of grad school. but i donno if i should send those grades in as I was super upset with being right under the margin for the next grade in two of my classes.

What do you guys think? Will it improve or hurt my chances if I send those grades in?

A 3.62 in grad school is better than a 3.45 in ugrad. Send it, there's nothing to lose.

Hey everyone-

I just got an interview at the U of Vermont on March 11th and one at NYMC on March 16th. I was wondering what you guys think I should do for transport between the two colleges. I will be staying with my friend in Queens from the night after my Vermont interview until the night before NYMC's interview. Can anyone help me out? Has anyone done this? Thanks!

Dave

I was complete in early October and sent an update letter a few weeks ago. I just recently got offered an interview, and even though I'm not sure that the update helped I think maybe it did. I guess I just think of updates as a way of displaying interest in the school.
Anyway, I saw a few posts down that you ended up sending the update in. Hopefully you hear some good news soon!

You may be able to do a one-way car rental, as the distance isn't that large.

I noticed that you posted that you had an "extention" and applied to a school after the deadline. Can you tell me what an extention is and how it works? Sorry if I am off topic.

I asked the admissions director at Yale if he would be willing to take my AMCAS, since I wasn't able to submit until December. As the deadline for secondary apps hadn't passed, and Yale does NOT do rolling admissions, he entered a code that allowed me to include Yale with my list of AMCAS schools. I then immediately had to submit the secondary. Ah, memories... what doesn't kill us only makes us stranger...

I was offered an interview here in late march. I've got one acceptance, hoping for a few more and I was thinking of withdrawing, especially since the majority of my int's are MD/PhD's.

Do I have a chance int'v in late march?

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if there was anyone in here who knows of or would be willing to host me the night of March 15th. I would be INCREDIBLY appreciative and stay out of your hair. Thanks!!!

Hey guys and gals. So NYMC finally updated my online status page. Here's the catch though, it currently states that a final decision letter was mailed to me on 1/15/2010...as in today. I was accepted the second week of december (or round-abouts, I don't remember the exact day offhand) and got my letter a few days later. Anyway, I'm not sure if they just don't care about the online updates once they've made a decision, or they've sent out some new letter. I'll post an update if I get anything new in the mail from them next week.

Also, to the question asked earlier, I will definitely be attending NYMC unless I get accepted to my state school (UMass).

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I remember they did say they purposely wait to update the status page so that people don't get impatient and call a lot until the physical letter arrives, though a month does seem a bit excessive...

Did you guys email NYMC back after your acceptance saying that you accepted their offer or are you going to wait to get the letter? whats the deposit?

Yeah I emailed them back. There is a deposit of $100, but it is not due until May 15th, so I haven't sent that in yet as I'm not decided as to where I'm going yet.

Hello!
I have my interview coming up and I read this on the interview feedback website:
"no transportation to and from admissions office to interview location"

So...out of curiosity...where are the interviews held and how many are there? I thought there was ONE faculty interview and it was held in the administration building. Correct me if I'm wrong.

There not all in the administrative building, but are close to it.. I think mine was apx a 5min walk.. good luck

Out of ~20 people.. only one had two interviews. The second interview was with a student

I have a feeling that person was interviewed by a faculty member over at the hospital... which is just a short walk. My interview in 2008 was in the Basic Sciences Building.

Does anyone know when the next committee meeting will be? (posting out of frustration from lurking)

I was complete last week of sept/first week of oct. I too sent an update letter around Christmas. So far, no word back from NYMC.

i was accepted to nymc in november, and i immediately returned the snail mail letter to hold my place in the class. I did not, however, reply to the acceptance email. I have not yet decided whether I will be attending nymc or not. my question is: even though I don't want to commit to going to nymc yet, was I still supposed to reply to the acceptance email anyway? Or is the email reply only supposed to be done by people who are committed to going?

Hi, I am interviewing on Jan 26th- anybody else?

If you have interviewed here what was the experience like? what questions were asked?

Does anyone know if they are still giving out interview invites, etc? I submitted my application awhile ago but have not heard any news.

I just checked again and my status was updated to say "Decision letter sent." I'm assuming since I did not receive an e-mail that it's not an interview invite. 🙁
Did anybody receive their interview invites by snail-mail or is it all by e-mail?

I received a phone call from them for the interview invite and others mostly received emails. I doubt they would send snail mail interview invites. Personally, I don't think that is a good sign.

Is there a date next to where it says "Decision Letter Sent?" Because mine has always said that, but I think it only means something once there is a date after it.

I don't think the email reply commits you to go any more than returning the letter does. You can withdraw by May 15th regardless.

Just withdrew my application. Had an interview on February 4th. Hope one of you gets my spot.

Has anyone gotten a letter for waitlist/rejection yet? Or is it just acceptences being sent out?

Also, does anyone recall how many people are placed on the waitlist, I feel like the director person said somewhere around 700(?). I'm probably wrong.

I may be wrong, but if my memory serves me correct the numbers are somehwere in this range...

Accepted outright- ~350 (double the first year class is what i think he said)
He didn't give me day a number a number for waitlist people, but he said they end of accepting a little under 700 for a class of like 190.. So 700 people on the waitlist makes sense.. They interview around 1300

As the director told my group.. "they go to their waitlist exclusively"

I have almost identical stats and application time. I haven't heard anything yet either. I called the admissions office today and they said they review applications in the order they are received and that they do this through April. I also asked if all interview dates were full and she said no.

last note: my status page says "decision letter sent:" and there is nothing after the colon... I'm guessing this doesn't mean they have sent me a letter? the upper part of the application still says I am under review...

any input from anyone would be appreciated.

"Your Secondary Application was completed on 07/29/2009 and is currently under review".

It doesn't seem like they go in order...:scared:

I don't think it means anything.. I have been accepted and received my letter in the mail, and it still says nothing

jcm14 is right. It doesn't mean anything until there's a date after it.

And the status page is a worthless piece of garbage because they won't update it until way after your letter is sent to avoid phone calls.

I'm actually approaching the 12 week date from my interview soon and haven't heard anything. I did sent an intent letter so maybe they are relooking over my app?

Just cancelled my Feb. 9th interview, hope someone here gets my spot!

I love how I submitted my secondary around like 9/15 and my status site page says that I was complete on 11/4.

Is this just cuz they are inefficient? Two months to check off that my secondary was sent in? Maybe they lost it for a while?

If they really are going over apps in order.... I might have 2 wait a while for an interview.

I submitted mine in late July and they didn't confirm it until about a month. If it took forever back then, think about how long it takes during the busy part of the cycle!

So yeah, it probably really did take them that long.
