Oh well.... I've already got one acceptance at a cheap State school, so I probably wouldn't have gone here anyways. It was really nice of them to let us know so quickly though!

Whoa, I'm waiting and no email yet. This kinda gives me a heart attack! I'm sorry! 🙁 We interviewed together. At least you're in somewhere!

Well hopfuly that's good news for you... maybe the sent out the rejections first and then battle it out for the accepted vs. waitlisted group.

It was a really awesome school with some really fresh ideas that excited me, but in the end, I don't think I could live in cold Scranton, PA for the next few years!!

has anyone else heard today? i was supposed to....but i still haven't heard yet....not sure if this is a good or a bad thing

Also in the 12/18 interview group...acceptance via e-mail on the 23rd! Very excited, was really impressed with the school.
 
So far, the new schools have been showing me some love...accepted at TCMC and VTC. Did anyone else apply to both of these schools? I'm having a pretty hard time deciding between them, especially since they're both new. Anyone have any thoughts one way or another?
 
So no news on the TCMC front lately, huh?
I was thinking about calling this week to see when they expect to hear about their certification status. Hopefully they get their accreditation soon....

I have a question - what do I have to bring with me for interview if anything? I know some schools ask for picture or copy of personal statement.... Please advise...

I don't remember having to bring anything special...they took our picture when we got there. I would just bring your driver's license in case they ask for ID. Good luck, and don't stress out! The interview is really conversational...just have some interesting things relevant to NEPA/TCMC/medicine in general to discuss with the interviewers.

I can't wait to interview here! TCMC is the last interview I have, and it's my top choice school. Good luck to everyone in the current cycle.

New to the thread, pardon my intrusion but when's your interview date?
I have a late interview here on 02/26/10.

I'm from S-E PA, it would take me two hours to drive to Scranton but I'm choosing to go up the day before and do the Tour on 02/25/10 at 5pm.
..I'll be staying at the Sleep Inn (10 mins away from the college), came dirt cheap with Reward Points but would be willing to split a room with anyone interested. (PM me!)
 
anyone else interviewing on the 29th?

I still need to book my hotel. I plan to come the night before, it would be nice to hang out with someone, or atleast be pointed in the right direction. I'd like to get a feel for the city in the time that im there.

I don't think so. I haven't taken either course, and I was accepted. I will be taking biochem this semester, but I'm fairly sure that wasn't on my application, and I wasn't asked about it during my interview.

I am interviewing on 2/26 as well. I've already booked a room in the Hilton Scranton, though. I will be around the area to look around on 2/25 (Thursday). So let me know if you are interested.

I def am! Check out my hotel reservation, it's sufficient and splitting the hotel comes to under $40 a person!!
R u doing the guided tour the evening before?

The is the first thing I am hearing about any guided tour. How alarming. Perhaps I didn't read the interview invite email very well?

Nah, you read it quite right! The tour happening the evening before the interview date is completely separate from the interview process.
We will actually be getting a guided tour on the day of the interview and although it might be repetitive, it will make the day familiar enough to calm my nerves, I hope. 😛
 
Hey,

Is anyone interviewing at TCMC this Friday (Jan 22, 2010)? I will be driving up from Philly and staying at a hotel/inn 21st night and heading to the interview from there the next morning. I'm still looking at places to stay for the best price.

Would anyone like to split the cost for 21st night?

Hey Aquanaut,

How did you find out about the tour the day before? I'm interviewing this Friday but arriving Scranton Thurs afternoon. If they are offering a tour Thurs, I would love to attend as well!
 
I'm expecting a decision today...anyone else? :scared:

haha i knew you were with me on this one! I called...she said they didn't meet yesterday but she wouldn;t tell me when they were meeting, she said this week. I asked if I could expect a decision today, she said 'as soon as we know we'll let you know'...but def implies 'no'.

Hi all,
I'm interviewing soon at TCMC, and I'm so excited for my interview!! My only concern is the availability of spots left- are there many seats left open for the class? Thanks!
 
I think they have 90 acceptances for 60 spots. The policy of most med schools is to accept roughly twice the number of applicants. This is because a lot of students are accepted to multiple schools and inevitably will turn down some of them.

So you still have a decent chance. You might have to stand out more than the first people interviewed, but maybe not. I'm not an admissions person.

There will probably be a lot of waitlist movement also, unless they give out an awesome scholarship like they did last year 👍
 
Wow! Thank you for your fast reply! I really love TCMC 🙂love🙂, and it's really good to know that they still have acceptances to hand out 🙂 Any advice for the interview would be very helpful as well. I read through this forum and read that most seem conversational, which is great.

Where did you all park? According to the Parking info given by TCMC in the "Interview Scheduled" email:

the closest parking (#3) is still a decent walk!

Park in the garage on Adams Ave, between Mulberry and Vine. It's really close by--like a 2 minute walk.
 
interviewing here nxt week, but can't find interview feedback thread for this school. those who have already interviewed, could you please share your interview experiences ? thanks

I got in here a few weeks back and just thought of an important question that I forgot to ask. Did anyone bring up the issue of doing away rotations 3rd and 4th year? I know that they assign students to a regional campus and the schedule seems pretty determined.

Without a reputation of previous applicants to rely on, it seems to make sense that if you wanted to do a residency in one specific place then you should do a rotation at that place in that field. I don't think it will be an issue, I was just wondering if anyone knows / asked about away rotations.

This is a good question, but I did not ask it during my interview day either! Most schools make provisions for away rotations, so I would assume TCMC will do the same thing...plus, they seem to be pretty accommodating of students' desires. Whether or not they will be accommodating of students' desire to train outside of the NEPA region, though, is anyone's guess. 😉 I will have to remember to ask this question at accepted students day, whenever that will be this year!

How was the interview, what did they ask you? Did it make you nervous to have two faculty interviewing you at once? There is no interview feedback for TCMC in the interview forums.
