sincere congrats to those who go in!
anyone else feel like an email was insenstive of them? I personally would've rather gotten a letter sent home and gotten the news in the privacy of my home instead of getting upset and teared up in the middle of my day at work. I know the economy is bad but I would have expected Umass to have considered interviewed applicants who weren't accepted to be worth at least $0.44 of respect.
I completely disagree. I'd much rather receive an e-mail than a letter, especially since I use my permanent address and my parents would receive the letter, not me. Using e-mail ensures that no one intercepts the letter and that it reaches the appropriate person as quickly as possible.
That being said, there are disadvantages to e-mail as well. I just consider expediency and reaching the proper target to be the most important components of a rejection notification.
