Anybody know if completing the whole 8+ pages of residency validation thing on the secondary is necessary if you have graduated from a MA high school and declared MA as your state on AMCAS? or should I call the admission office...ugh I don't wanna sound ******ed haha

Thanks

Are a lot of you guys staying on campus for interviews or choosing an off campus location?

I believe you still have to complete it even if you graduated from a MA high school. Unnecessary in my opinion.

I emailed the admissions office and yes unfortunately you have to complete all of it.

state school love! 😍

Just received an invite for 9/15 as well. Really excited! 🙂

wooop! how are you getting there? i think i'm staying at my parents' house the night of the 14th but i'll go straight back to the city via bus after the interview. probably.

EDIT: "the city" = NYC. oops.

eeshk, i just looked at tickets for the train and bus from worcester to NYC... this is bad news bears. it's gonna take me like 7 hours to get home! oh well.

Wow DW2158, you're everywhere! Congrats to both of you.

Hopefully I'll be getting one of those nice emails soon, too? Pretty Please, UMASS?

I got one too!!!!!

ALERT: I have gmail and the interview invite ended up in my spam folder! So make sure to check that regularly!

interview invite here as well!

not sure when i was complete, but i checked my status on july 30th and saw that i was complete.

I was planning on driving up from Storrs, CT...I think its around a 45-60 minute drive. It was quite surprising to hear from Umass this early. I thought they interviewed much later in the cycle.

I'm not sure on my complete date, but sometime mid july sounds about right.

Congrats to everyone getting the email. Do you know what percentage of interviewed students Umass accepts?

@caveat87: I believe, but don't quote me on it, 30%.

Just got the interview invite as well! It also went to my gmail spam with no status update on the application website... so make sure to check your spam guys.

It's scheduled for September 9/16... and I just bought a round trip flight from school to NYC for an Einstein interview on the 15th. Looks like I won't be taking the return flight and will have to get a flight that goes from NYC to BOS that night.

Congrats to those with invites! Keep the dream alive for those without! :xf:

A question to those of you who have received interview invites to UMASS: Were you all complete within 2-3 days after the secondary application came out?

It's hard to know when you're complete or even submitted because of the way their system is, but I had completely filled out the application within 2-3 days of the secondary coming out and all of my LORs were already uploaded by AMCAS so I'm thinking I was in the earliest group to be marked complete. I think it took a week or so after that before UMass actually marked me as being complete.

hell nah. i had to go to my parents house to look at tax information to finish the secondary, and i didn't do that until 2 weeks after i had received it. then my letters didn't come in until a week after that. i was complete on 7/28.

Nope. When I look at my application status and click the "View All To Do Items" link, it says everything was completed on 7/30, which sounds about right.

In regards to my interview, I sent a confirmation e-mail to the e-mail address provided. Did anyone else confirm via e-mail and, if so, have they responded to that confirmation?

Yup, I emailed them back in the evening, she responded next morning.

Interview Invite for 9/22! I'm really happy, but a bit apprehensive that my number one choice is also my first interview.

My secondary was just marked as completed yesterday. I can't believe that things moved so fast!

How long does it take for them to "grey out" your application after you fill in everything (aka saying that the secondary form is complete)?

I filled in everything on 7/23, and when I next checked back on 7/30, I was complete.

It took 4 business days after I mailed in the application fee (mailed Tuesday, 'grayed out' the following Monday.) I did, however, mail it in Worcester.

Anyone know if there is a student host program at UMass?

when you have your interviews, please post the kinds of questions or general info that would have been helpful to know before hand! my interview isn't until october so i want to get ready.

I'm applying Early Decision...so it's possible my interview date is a little bit earlier because of that.

my app was greyed out and it says complete, didn't even send me an email about that...

UMass, you're so bad at communication

Now only if i can get an interview invite as well...

Anybody else interviewing tomorrow?
I'll be sure to post how it went 🙂

Overall the interview process was nice here. I feel like I connected a little better with the second interviewer than the first one. Some questions that were asked:

1.) Why medicine?
2.) Why Umass?
3.) Why will you make a good doctor? (bit of a struggle to give a good answer)
4.) How do you deal with stress? failure? Name a specific instance for each.
5.) Where do you see yourself in the future?
6.) What else do you do for fun?
7.) What would you do if you don't get in?

Things I noticed:

pros: Students seemed genuinely happy (strong sense of teamwork/camaraderie), New Albert Sherman center to be opened in 2012, nice classrooms/labs, reasonable cost of living, plenty of clinical exposure very early through LPP/PPS courses, inexpensive tuition

cons: gym seemed very small, have to buy expensive laptop, next year's class is guinea pigs for BIG curriculum overhaul,

I really do hope things work out here for me because it seems like a fantastic school. Best of luck to everyone else interviewing!

Did anyone that was there bother to write down the names of the other interviewees, or know where there is a list of them?

I think there may actually be a morning/afternoon session, with the afternoon session starting at 11. In any case, I'm also in that group (If there really are groups) so I'll see you then! I wonder how many people will interview with us in a single day.

Complete on sept 18th, interview invite today, sept 22nd...talk about fast turnaround time.. scheduled for october 6th
