when did all you guys interview. I interviewed Dec. 18th. No call for me.
 
Yeah I think they're a little behind on reviewing apps. So people who interviewed in late november or anytime in December no worries! All hope is not lost. I interviewed 12/14 so I'm not expecting to hear anything today...plus the Dean said Jan 6 AT THE EARLIEST. good luck and congrats to those who were accepted today!

I interviewed 11/20 and was told that my app would be reviewed by Dec.2. It came and went. Then they said Dec 9 that day came and went. Then I emailed and the said 1/6....Came and went....so am I officially on the alternate list?????

I interviewed 11/20 and was told that my app would be reviewed by Dec.2. It came and went. Then they said Dec 9 that day came and went. Then I emailed and they said 1/6....Came and went....so am I officially on the alternate list?????
 
I interviewed Dec. 4 and got the call today...good luck everyone
 
Yeah I interviewed in late November 20 and I was told I should hear by Dec. 9th. I just got called today and I was accepted! I assumed I was on the waitlist all this time. When they called and the student on the phone asked me about my interview, I was so sure they were just calling to check on my experience during the interview. When she said I was accepted I cried. So don't give up and good luck to you all.

i dont understand what UM wants. I still haven't heard anything from them nor have I gotten a complete email either. I submitted my application in september. I emailed the ad com asking whether I was complete back in december, but I still haven't received a reply. I feel like i am being ignored.

It took them FOREVER and a day to respond to my status check email...like at least a month. Some other people on here said they got a response in a few days, so I don't know what the heck they're doing...
 
If you haven't heard yet, it doesn't mean you are on the alternate list. Like I said, I interviewed November 6th and just heard today because my interviewer took awhile to send in my evaluation. Keep calling and asking - they will let you know if you are wait-listed or you application has yet to be reviewed.

And honestly guys, it's not worth emailing them for status updates. Just call. They were happy to provide me with information over the phone about when I would be reviewed.

I'm WL'd on both campuses, first Boca then Miami. I found out that the Miami campus had the final say on my being WL'd at Boca. So in my case, they were somehow linked with the acceptance process.
 
Ok never mind what I said earlier about then being behind. I was interviewed 12/14 and 12/15 and I got the emails this morning and a phonecall today 🙂

Results:

WL at Main Campus
Accepted at Boca :laugh:

so it might just take them a while to get the news to everyone. Also, based on the fact that I got a WL email I'm going to say WL=/= silence. Its more likely that they just haven't gotten around to either discussing your application or just haven't gotten the news to you yet. Instead of waiting and guessing, I would just call to find out.

2013 class had a facebook group. anyone motivated/bored enough to start it up should do so. maybe a bunch of us can go down and do our own second look kinda thing over spring break. i know i plan on spending my break down looking for housing if anyones interested in organizing something like that, PM me

So has anyone ever heard of someone being WL'd at Boca and accepted straight up at the Miami campus?
 
Congrats on the acceptances, guys! Any of those come from Boca, other than Hifey's?

The caller then said something like...'well maybe next year you can walk around a little bit slower and get a feel b/c you've been accepted!'

Woohoo, first acceptance of the cycle! I applied in 2006 and only received 2 interviews in state (Virginia) and didn't get in...so this one's for all the people who almost lose hope! Busted my behind for the last 2-3 years and it paid off. 😀

yo red, if you just looking to go check flight prices in jan and feb. you can get roundtrip tix easily for like $130

definitely man...im thinking about taking out loans for a condo. have you heard anything about that? i talked to some students and they said the housing markets so bad that buying is a smart investment. not sure what to make of it but youre totally right about the apartments! theyre sick

yea housing market is pretty bad, i think its supposed to sink rock bottom jan 2011, so august 2010 wouldn't be bad i guess


my friends suggested buying a condo as wel, how much are the prices though

gave myself a 200k cap. im looking at 1 bedroom condos on south beach for around 180k. 15 min to school

other option is brickell which apparently has a metrorail?? which would be mad close...brickell has a lot of recently built condos
 
Buying a house/condo as an "investment" is a bad idea. With all the measures the government has taken to prop up home prices, most markets are still quite overvalued and stand to drop over the next few years. With all the debt I'm taking on for school, I wouldn't even touch a purchase like that.
 
miami's market is supposed to come back by mid 2011. thats what ive read at least.

it would have been easier with a mdphd but yea im not sure, it would make sense if u stayed at UM for residency too

I also remember a year ago reading that housing prices would continue to increase each year and that it reflected an increase in real value. Obviously, that was not true. I don't put a lot of faith in mainstream economists anymore.

Any word on when scholarship decisions might be coming out? If I recall correctly, someone got a scholarship last November or December, but I haven't seen anything in this thread since then. I was accepted out of state, and this thread has gotten me excited for the prospect of a scholarship.

I know dingy received one a while back. I am OOS and I received one. I was accepted Dec 10 and notified of my scholarship a week later. There was some early SDN talk of January being the month when fin aid starts coming out, but I don't know how true that is.

I really hope that they offer scholarships....It would make decisions a lot easier. Good luck to everyone still waiting for interviews!
 
Interviewed at both campuses last week and LOVED the school. Expecially since my state school are giving no love. Miami one of my top choices. Cross my fingers for an acceptance, bc my verbal score was low. Any body know how many ppl get off waitlist? Bc I expect that one first but maybe suprised
 
Ok I just joined the "University of Miami Miller School of Medicine class of 2014" facebook group! I was accepted in early November. We should all sign a petition for a second look lol
