When I called the other day they said that I won't be before committee until next Wednesday. I found this a bit strange as I interviewed way back in early October. Maybe others have heard the same?

At this point, I love MN, but they can eat it. I haven't been contacted thus far, so yes, another imaginary time frame. For course, if they were to call today, I would forgive them for their ridiculous slowness. Seriously- it doesn't take a week to "tabulate the results" of my vote. I haven't gotten a rejection email yet though, so I am hoping the dean just isn't around...

So far, I have been resisting calling in case they boot me for impatience, but tomorrow I'll give them a call again.
 
Hahaaa, looks like all the pre-meds are getting feisty...must be the sub-zero temperatures. 😉
 
Interviewed today. Low stress, very conversational, good school, good facility, flexible learning path. Personally I really like their idea of streaming the lecture on internet plus downloadable video file after lecture, so you can "attend" lectures in your house.

The time frame is still 4-6 week. But I think it's just premade in the power point so in reality no one knows what the real time frame is. But Dean White said our group should hear back by late January.
 
I really hope that there is a mass calling of acceptances coming soon. I hate waiting!

Word. I just did some digging from U of M threads of the past

2008: First call on 12/18
2007: Call on 12/20 (This was a year with a 3-week strike, so probably not applicable to the current year)

It looks like we're probably going to be waiting for another week at least.
 
Is everyone else still playing the waiting game? It's hard not to worry about my application every time I check my mail box or get a phone call. I'm tempted to call again to find out more details about my "final review" status (when it was, whether it entailed actual votes being counted, etc.)

I had heard/read somewhere (and my husband tells me he remembers reading it too..)that there was a magical cut-off sometime in mid-November that if you interviewed before that date, you would hear back before Christmas, and if you interviewed after it, you would hear back in March.

If that is true, maybe there will be a "batch acceptance" where all they do is call people for a week?

I really have no idea. It is pretty rude to tell everyone 4-6 weeks if they have no intention of doing so.
Monday will be my 4 week mark, I have been joking with my family that it would be great to hear back before the New Year....really don't expect to hear any sooner, though.

I called because I planned on canceling another interview if accepted here. I interviewed 11/9 and was told 4 weeks, but for sure by the end of the year. When I called, the woman said it is generally 6 weeks and sounded surprised that I would have thought sooner. She said I had not gone to review yet.

Yup, that's the U of MN I know....:meanie:
It took almost a year for me to add a biology minor because the guy there didn't think "I deserved it".

I sent the admissions office an e-mail last week, just inquiring about a possible timeline to hear back, and they said we should be notified by next friday. so we'll see! (i interviewed in late sept. though.)
 
Doing my expert analysis, both 12/18/2008 and 12/20/2007 were Thursdays. They were also the week prior to Christmas. This, combined with premedmn20's information makes me think that next Thursday, December 17th, will be D-Day.

I noticed the group tour of interview people going from Moos to MCB today and the one thing that really struck me was that they were all wearing the same suit.

It doesn't take much to amuse me. 😀

Not yet...but today was only my 4-week mark. Others are over the 9-week point...
 
This Thursday will be my 6 week mark and I still haven't heard anything back.
 
My money's on this Thursday for calls. I interviewed on 11/12, so I'm just praying that they keep their promise of everyone up to mid-November will hear something at that time.

That would be excellent. I just hope I'm not on a plane when they call.
 
So here is the new news. When your file is decided on, it either is accepted or waitlisted. Waitlisted notification goes out right away through snail mail. If you are accepted, they don't always call right away because they want your file to go through a "scholarship board" before they call people. I don't know if they always wait on it going through the scholarship board first before notifying people on acceptances, but that was just what the U of M guy just told me.

The next scholarship board is scheduled to meet on Thursday.

Soooo if you were told that your file was decided on, and you don't get a letter in the mail a few days later, you are probably accepted! .... Or so the U of M man says. But I guess we'll still need to wait on that phone call.....

Hmm...I guess that's good to know, though I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with my mail since I'm returning home for break and probably won't bother forwarding it. I'm hoping someone will be around the campus mail room the rest of the month for me to call and inquire about whether there are any letters in my box (hopefully not). In any case, let's keep our fingers crossed for good news and phone calls soon!

In the meantime, as a distraction to keep our spirits up, if anyone wants to play a game called guess akaVonk's favorite hockey team and player, I'll give you a cookie or coffee should we have the good fortune to be classmates next year.

Wild, yes. Koivu, as awesome as he is, isn't the favorite player I had in mind. You can still have a cookie if we cross paths next fall though 😉

I'll say Matt Niskanen from the Dallas Stars, just because he is from Minnesota and I went to high school with him

..and he's the only hockey player I know the name of

My guess would be Antti Miettinen or if you like an offensive defenseman Marek Zidlicky... Ha atleast those are a couple of my favs

Niskanen was fun to watch during high school, that's for sure

I've been thinking about this and I don't recall anyone getting a waitlist letter. Is this the case?

I have to say, our cheerleaders (i.e. me)always made fun of the E-G cheerleaders because they only had 3 cheers, and they involved the march-in-place triangle clap 😀

Haha, no idea where I'm going to attend... the weather here isn't making the schools all that attractive at the moment...

So you're a cheerleader at the U?

Nope. In high school. I was on the competition team at UST but only for 2 years.

And yes, the weather is pretty lame right now, but better than most years so far. I mean, we've only had one snow emergency so far and it is almost Christmas!
 
ha we usually get snow by now.. but we hardly ever get this cold at this time.. where is el nino?
 
Since I feel like my entire saga has been documented on this board, I'd just like to say- I got the call! Like ApoK said, Thanks Dean White!! I'm excited to be in MN for 4 more years. For anyone that is worried about the weather, it is 100% worth it- there is a reason why so many Minnesotans come back to Minnesota.

Congrats! No news on my end, so I'm not sure whether to start getting nervous or not 🙁

If you don't mind, whats are you guys'/gals' your last initial? Just wondering if they're going alphabetically.
 
Nothing here yet either. It's never easy for me! Just once I want to be that guy who's all like, "Yep, just got the call. Good luck to the rest of you."

And then I always find out that I interviewed on the same day as that guy too, to make matters worse. Here's to tomorrow I guess!

I didn't hear anything today either! I interviewed 11/5. I'm really hoping tomorrow will be the day...here's to a sleepless night!
