After having this primary submitted since June 26, I just realized that UMN doesn't screen and I never got a secondary. FML.

U of MN DOES screen the applicants. From an email, "In the coming months, the Admissions Committee will review all applications and send supplemental applications only to qualified applicants. Those invited to complete the supplemental application will receive another email once their application is screened against our school's selection criteria and application polices."

They didn't in 2007 and this link suggests that they don't:

http://www.meded.umn.edu/admissions/documents/Newfor2009-2010.pdf

That pdf file basically means when you submit your primary through AMCAS to UofM med school, it doesn't let you to specify whether you want UMN-TC or UMN-Duluth, so they want you to choose before they send out the secondary.

UofM DOES screen applicants. If you didn't get secondary yet, I would suggest you to 1) share your stat and to see whether anyone with the similar stat as yours got secondary yet, or 2) call the admission office to ask your application process

Ah I never got an e-mail from them confirming receipt of primary, so I double checked AMCAS and I guess I didn't actually apply to them this year despite the fact that I have it listed in my Excel sheet. That explains a lot 🙂

Too late to add for OOS?

nope.. I am friends with quite a few M1s here and one person said that they were in the last interview group of the season, and that most people who interviewed with her are now in her freshman class..

Anyone else IS or goes here that hasn't heard anything since submitting the secondary?

INTERVIEW INVITE today! So excited 😍

Guess I just needed to whine a little 😉

It's been 4 weeks now. Could get news any day!!! Has anyone heard anything back from them yedt?

I interviewed 6 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything.

They told us that if we hadn't heard anything within 6 weeks that we should call. Why do you all feel that we won't hear anything for a long time?

Hi everyone, I have a question.

When you guys submitted the secondary, how long did it take for your status to change to "complete"? I've submitted in for over a week, it still says I'm not complete yet.....

submitted mine on a friday and was complete the following monday.. they may be getting back up now though

The admission website and the Dean himself said that we'll find out in Dec.

NVM, it says "complete" now, after 8 days...

I interviewed last friday, and dean White said he was hoping to get back to at least our interview group by the end of november. But I would assume that would be for everyone in cycle 1, since I don't think they start rolling until after new years.

Yep, a week and a half ago he told my group he was hoping for thanksgiving at the latest.

Got a call from one of the deans at UofM letting me know that I had been accepted. A letter is supposed to come in about a week. I am OOS and had one of the first interview dates.

Accepted here too!! What a wonderful surprise...I was told I may not hear until December on interview day.

Does the dean call all accepted applicants from a specific interview group in one day or some at a time? I had an interview as early as Pharaoh's and MCP1's, and I haven't received a call. Does this mean a rejection? :scared:

when did you guys interview? they told me 4-6 weeks and i am definitely in that window. so excited now that some people are getting accepted.

I Hope it isnt rude but would people mind posting their stats who got interviews/acceptances and IS vs OOS??
I am debating whether to apply thank you so mcuh!

Hey all. I interviewed 9/11. On the phone, Dean White said he was only calling a few applicants now, so definitely no need to worry.

Stats: 3.96/40P, IS.

OOS without any ties to Minnesota. I just mentioned that I had grown up in the MidWest and hoped to remain there for medical school.

Interviewed on August 31st (think it was the first interview day). Did not have a student interview as they were not back yet.

33MCAT, 3.83 cGPA, 3.78 sGPA.

Like pharaoh88 said, the Dean mentioned that he was only calling a handful of applicants to let them know. I was quite surprised to receive the call as they had told us at the interview not to expect to hear until December.

Phone call came around 6:30 I think. Area code 612.

Are there usually 2 interviewers here? My interview itinerary only shows an MD interviewer. Will they then surprise me with a student interview as well, or did the itineraries show the correct number of interviews for you guys?

Showed correct for me, but I interviewed before students were back yet..

I hope so.:xf:

Congrats on your several acceptances! I'm not surprised, though.

Rach83, it should only be one. No surprises on my interview day, at least. A couple people even had a student interviewer as their only interview, but it was listed that way on their itinerary.

Ok thanks guys. One will be difficult enough for me, the interviewer is a bioethics prof so I'm sure I will get hit with lots of ethics questions! 😱

I remember that I googled the name of my interviewer here and found out that he had given campaign donations to President Obama, so I made sure to skew my thoughts on healthcare policy to the left.

I have my interview on the 19th of November! Is anyone else interviewing then? And has anyone attended the coffee thing the night before the interview? If so, what was it like and was it worth your time?

didn't offer my group a coffee thing.. unless it is for people who are OOS?

must be a new thing since we interviewed.. The coffee at the U isn't very good anyways.. you didn't miss much

I'm actually interviewing tomorrow.... where did you see the coffee offer sarahjane? Well I guess it doesn't really matter now, too late to figure it out and I'm too tired from traveling!

I interviewed last Thursday and I also went to the Coffee hour. I thought it was very helpful as I had a lot of questions and met some of the interviewees in my group so it made the interview go very smootlhly. I recommend it, but if you're really tired from traveling, skip it.
