Yeah, just call the admissions office and they will confirm receipt of that form.

Im sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the the "intent to matriculate form" that accompanies your 100$ deposit after acceptance.

ooh, sorry =0)
Hmm. Now that you say that, I realize it has been a month and the U has not even cashed my deposit check yet. I should stop by the office tomorrow and check on that....

So I guess my answer is in theory more than a month? 🙄

I got an email about financial aid a couple days after they got mine.

I gave Paul White my check and form in person in November and realized they hadn't cashed my check in December. When I went to ask them about it, they said they were holding onto the checks until the spring, because they didn't want to have to refund them if you backed out. They still have not cashed my check 4 months later

Congratulations to all those that got recently accepted!
I have heard back from few schools but apparently Minnesota has a later response date for international students. Does anyone know that date they let international students know they got accepted or not? I was interviewed in the first week of December and I have yet to hear anything from the school. By the way I am from Canada!

Cheers!

During the interview, Dean White said that int'l applicants are reviewed in April. Yeah, this waiting is killing me since UMN is by far my first choice.

hey everyone. i'm not applying this cycle, but am interested in attending MN and will apply next cycle.

I'm scared, however, becasue I have a 3.45 GPA. My mcat is tbd.

Do people with my GPA get into MN?

btw, I have awesome extracurriculers, really really good experiences. o yea, and i'm a MN resident!

Thanks

Thanks! did he tell you when in April? Hopefully the first half.

I am throughly enjoying this waiting game. Who else is?

chow!

I think he said something along the lines of "you will hear about your decision in April". I called and I was told that my file has already been reviewed. They just can't tell me if it's yay or nay, because the number of spots is undecided.

They have to decide if they're going to displace Minnesota students or OS American students to create more room for international students. I think they have a standard 3 or 6 spots per year dedicated to international students and need some strong reason to change from that.

I wonder how many internationals they interviewed this year ><

On my interview day, Dr White said he had gotten the spots up from 3 last year to a total of 6 for this year. Seemed like a done deal. When did you hear about them now debating the number of spots?

when did you interview? At my interview, he didn't seem sure about that...

1st week of November. I hope they didn't go back on that decision b/c in thinking that he would get twice the spots, he probably also had twice the number of interviewees.🙁

Hmm... I interviewed in Jan, so... I hope my memory is completely failing me on this one, but I think he said it could be anywhere from 0 to 6... Same as last year, less than last year or more than last year... nothing seemed decided.

Well then I guess the original plans fell through for some reason b/c in Nov, it seemed pretty definite at 6 seats. Bummer.

She did say something like that. In any case, April is finally coming, I hope we are not looking at end of April here.

Has anyone turned in their financial aid forms (both FAFSA and supplemental app that the U provides) and gotten any kind of confirmation that they have received it? No word from them on this...or, you know, on anything else throughout the application process...🙄 I would call the office and double-check, but I am feeling rebellious today. Thanks, all!

I really wish they would systematically inform us to confirm receipt of important financial aid and intent-to-matriculate forms. Otherwise, we will all either individually contact them or run the risk of having something be misplaced among the thousands of applications and thousands of pages of paperwork.

No acceptance calls today??

I think it was a University holiday today. Still waiting to hear back? Best of luck. 🙂

Also, thanks to all those that congratulated me on my acceptance two weeks ago.

Correct. It is spring break and Friday was a university "Float" holiday.
I'm sure you guys will hear something soon....:luck:

I called today (I am so weak) and was told I would hear something this week. So a review did happen (and, miracle of miracles, I was reviewed after 4+ months). I imagine calls will go out soon.:xf:

I called the admissions office today and was told the same thing! Omg. I really hope that after waiting over 4 months that it is a phone call and not a waitlist letter coming my way...

I'm planning on applying during the next cycle and considering early decision for UMN. Has anyone had experience with this? I've heard conflicting advice about the early decision program vs. just applying early for regular decision to a wide range of schools. Thanks for your help! And congrats/good luck to everyone who applied this year!

I had a good friend who did not get in this way. I think he regretted it because it ended up delaying his going to medical school by a year. You aren't given any advantage in terms of getting in. You are only given an advantage in terms of hearing back sooner, but it is still pretty late to apply to other schools. Although I have now been waiting since November to hear back, I still wouldn't see this as a great advantage because I don't have to move to go here. But, your situation may be different. If you would have to move to go here and wouldn't even consider going anywhere else, early decision may be for you.

I suggest applying late in the year like me. Try to be complete sometime in early December or you'll miss out on all the late year fun of waiting and wondering. Here's the really tough question. When do you start to get ready for the next application season so you can apply at the earliest time possible? I applied to one school this year and I'm not decided on if I'll apply early and broadly this next season or just to the U again but about 4 months earlier.

Good luck those that got reviewed this time, following history I've got a couple weeks to wait. I can't believe at least one of my reviewers didn't give me over a 9.2 score!

I interviewed on 1/21. Stopped in the Admissions Office today and they said I'd hear something this week (my file was reviewed last week). Please post if you get a phone call this week!

Thanks!

Guys, get your cell phones ready, one of my friend just got the acceptance call 😀

Just got the CALL!!!! First choice!!!!! Interviewed 11/9.

Grats guys, and friend of Lixxx. It's good to see they're still plugging away every two weeks.

Mpls that must have been brutal! Since November? Mind if I ask you two what your stats were? I like to pretend it really tells me something.

Grats again.

It was extremely brutal - but worth the wait. My stats are 30R, 3.6 overall GPA (lower freshman year), 3.7 science. I am a non-trad with lots of research experience. I know how you feel - gathering information makes it feel like you have more control over the waiting.

Tutmos, I am rooting for you. I hope we are classmates next year!

Thanks for the info and well wishes, I hope to be your classmate as well. 😀 Grats again and doubly so as a fellow non-trad in his 30's! There sure are a lot of us.

I forgot to ask earlier. Did you get asked much about your research in the interview? I don't have any publications yet but I've got 10 credits of pretty high end research in a primate lab doing neural research and it never got mentioned once in the interview. The only mention of volunteering and shadowing was, " You did the whole volunteering and shadowing thing right?" It'll all be a moot point if I get in and I won't care, I just wonder if the research even got noticed. It was in my EC's, it's on my transcript and in the personal statement. The randomness of the whole process is disconcerting. 🙂 It's all about me! Just kidding.

Man I hope they don't stick all the old men into one group for the PBL sessions.

"...well back in my day we woulda just called down to the lab for that. None of this newfanglee e-mail-ing on the Google machines! And what's this new book by Dr. Face everyone's talking about?"

I talked about my research some, but not a lot. I can't remember though if I was asked specifically about it, or if I brought it up in being asked about my background and how I came to this point. I have a couple of publications, and I think I was asked to explain them. It was very conversational. We talked about a lot of things - from my interest in poetry to how I think the health care system should be structured.

It is really random, and it's really hard to bear the randomness of it all. I think they'll note your research even if you didn't spend much time talking about it.

Congrats to both of you!!
What a relief after such a long wait....I would have been killing someone by now.
Are you coming to revisit day?

Any word on the wait list?.... I interviewed Sept. 3 and I hate waiting until May. If it is ranked, would it be first come first serve haha

Tutmos, I am rooting for you. I hope we are classmates next year!

I wonder if we can start an "Old nontrads that want to draft Tut into the 2014 class" petition?

I'm pulling for you too, Tut!

I'm starting to feel like a charity case! Thank you for the well wishes, but you guys are going to make me into that enigma that people wonder what happened to them when they didn't get in. 😱

I put most of my best foot forward so I'll cross my fingers yet. I'm not looking forward to the prospect of another wait.

Congrats to both of you!!

Hey Sassy, just wondering why you're planning on going to the revisit day? I assume you're pretty set on the U considering your house purchase and all. Is there something going on there that I'm not aware of?

I just got an invite to revisit day. I probably won't go since I know I'll be going and I'd have to take off of work.

For those of you waiting, the deadline to register is April 16th. I would think that this would mean that all initial acceptances would be given out by the beginning of April?

Based on threads from the previous years they do acceptances all the way up to May 15th before switching over to the waitlist. (wipes sweat from brow) I keep waiting for my waitlist letter after these meetings. :scared:

Hey all,

Thought I'd de-lurk and mention that I hope to be going to the U next year. Congrats to everyone who's been accepted already!
