For those of us who interviewed, will we be hearing any news at the end of this week?

My understanding is that the AdCom meets once a week and decides on files interviewed that week. They issue one of three decisions, accept, reject 🙂thumbdown) or hold. Once a month, the OME will send emails updating applicants of their status. I think it is the third or fourth week of the month when they send the emails, but I can not be sure. From what I know (it's very little) they typically are very conservative with the admits each month and will really fill the class in February or March. Good luck to all!

Last year I interviewed on the exact same date as I did this year (11/11) and I received a status update the following week. If they are working off of the same time line as last year, we should hear from them on Friday.

I interviewed today and the admissions coordinator said that the first status emails would go out on or before November 30th. She said that the AdCom hasn't decided whether it'll send out decisions early next week or early the week after. I hope this helps all and good luck!

Hey, I was one of your tour guides today!! 😉 I'm sure you knocked 'em out of the park today. I hope good news finds you on or before November 30th. :luck:

Thanks for the update! I have been wondering if they were going to send the first round of decisions out next week or wait until after Thanksgiving. I interviewed in the first week of October and am hoping to get good news soon! :luck::luck::luck:

You are welcome. Good luck to all!:luck:

@CapFan - Thanks for taking the time to show us around. I think I can speak for all the interviewees and say we appreciate you taking a couple of valuable hours of study time to hang out with us. 😉

Thanks!! I interviewed Wednesday (11/18). IS reapplicant, MCAT = 28Q, GPA = 3.98

I hate to be the party pooper here but I called the OME and they said that the status emails won't go out until the 30th and they accept by email not phone call.

Unless there is more to the story lemonade, I think you may be fibbing. If not, congrats.

He/She isn't, they call for direct admits...congrats lemonade!

Thanks everyone for the congrats!

Ahh, I stand corrected and apologize. Congrats Lemonade!
Thats alright Physio. I have to say my instant reaction when I read your post was "Oh no don't tell me someone just pulled a prank on me!" But besides the call they also sent an email (which a copy of will be going on my refrigerator) so I really am in... no pranks lol!

What is a direct admit?
I believe if the committee likes an applicant well enough they bypass the rolling admissions and are called and offered a seat. Someone else might verify this because I was so stunned its possible I misunderstood.

This is pretty much it. The committee typically only sends status emails and enrolls on a rolling basis once a month but if there is a candidate they really, really, really like and worry about losing to another school, they will call and admit them after they (the committee) meet after that students interview.

Sorry again for doubting you Lemonade and congrats again!🙂

Hi all!

Coming out of lurk mode (for the first time!) to say that I got an acceptance call in October after my interview. I wanted to post earlier but was afraid no one would believe me (looking your way physiodoc 😉 ).

Congrats to lemonade! I'm 99% sure I'll be there in the fall. How about you?

Good luck to everyone on the 30th! I hope there's lots of good news 🙂

Hi all!

I would have believed you earlier. The only reason I was skeptical of Lemonade was that at my interview the admissions coordinator gave the impression that they had handed out all of their DAs already. But I earned the little dig above. Congrats JL and I hope to see you in the fall. Any chance you'd drop those stats, IS/OOS on us?

Thanks for the verification Physio! And really no worries. Had I remembered that they don't generally call for acceptances I would have been skeptical too.

Congrats on exiting lurk mode and also congratulations on the acceptance! I'd say its a pretty good chance I'll be there too. But leaving a little room for the unknown since there's still some time before a set decision has to be made.

When you called did they say the 30th or after for sure? The waiting is driving me crazy :scared: lol

She said late this week. I reminded her of the impending holiday and she said it would be the 30th. That's the info I'm going off of. I understand how bad the waiting game is, but thankfully I have another degree to finish and keep me distracted. Now if the darn experiments would start going my way.

Yeah, I definitely know how that is. I think I am so anxious because we are off classes this week...good luck :luck::luck::luck:

You too! I think the worst part is that our fates are already decided, but they haven't released them to us. Enjoy your break and good luck to you and all on the 30th!

Congrats to those who were accepted over the phone! 🙂 How exciting! For the rest of us, is there any chance of our status update being an acceptance, or will be just be hearing hold/reject? Are acceptances just coming by phone this round?

Save for non-direct admits acceptances come by email alone. *This is my understanding but as you can see above, I've been wrong before.* There will be some acceptances this round, though they will most likely be fairly limited. The school seems to like to wait and interview a ton of folks and fill the class later in the year and only admit small numbers each month. As I understand it, the process is not at all dissimilar from VCUs admissions process if that helps. MU uses a formula based on the applicant pool (both number of apps and "quality" of apps), number of seats available and such to determine how many to admit each month. This is how it was explained to me, but again, I've been wrong in my interpretation before. I hope this helps and have a great Thanksgiving all!😀:luck:

Are those supposedly being notified on the 30th people that interviewed up to a certain date? I interviewed at MU on 11/4 and am OOS, so should I expect to hear something next Monday or is it in another round?

You should hear on Monday. I interviewed on 11/17 and the admissions coordinator told us we'd be in this pool, so you should be as well. Good luck!

Status is unchanged. What does that even mean?!

It means more waiting, that's for sure. And more nail biting, and sleepless nights... +pity+

Has anyone gotten this status update so far this year, and then gotten in later? :xf::xf:

I just called the OME after seeing your post and they said emails "starting to go out today."

She did not elaborate and I did not push the matter. If someone else would like to call and find out, please post the info here.

ETA - To answer you question, it means you weren't admitted or rejected. You are back in the pool for next month's admissions decisions. Plenty of folks are given that status at some point and eventually matriculate. MU, while admitting during the process and calling themselves a rolling admissions school, typically admit a few students each month and really fill the class in late February/early March, according to my sources. But I've been wrong before. Hang in there statzern, not all is lost!

When did you interview?

Does anyone know what the stats are for getting off the hold list and getting an acceptance in February if you're "right about in the middle of the list"? Or at least how high on the waitlist they put you on?

I feel like this is the Physio Doc 2 Be thread. Sheesh! Seriously, if you all want me to stop responding, please say so.

MU has in the last several years had some solid movement throughout the waitlist. Two years ago, I applied and was placed at #77 on the waitlist. They accepted people who were in the mid 60s that year on the waitlist, IIRC. It is not unusual to hear of them going into the 50s, but I know there was one year not long ago they only went to the 20s or something like that.

As it is, no one is on the waitlist right now. They haven't generated it to my knowledge and typically do so after they fill the class. Also, last year the policy changed and they didn't tell you where you were on the waitlist. Instead they tell you which third you are in. I'm not certain if that is the policy this year, and I may have misheard, but I believe that to be true.

Don't panic (I say this knowing full well that I'm in near panic mode myself) and stay positive. Good luck everyone!

Unfortunately, I got the same e-mail today. 🙁 I am definitely not looking forward to more waiting, but at least it's not a rejection 👍! This was the first round of status updates, so no one yet this year has gotten in with that update, but usually a lot of people get put on "hold" and then rereviewed each month and eventually get in. I wouldn't be too worried about it until February comes around! Good luck everyone!:luck:

Hey, at least you are still in the pot! Keep thinking happy thoughts and good luck!

I'm still waiting on my email but I'm preparing myself for rejection or a hold. The odds say it'll be one of these two.

Good luck everyone! 👍 Hope you hear some good news soon because believe me I know how frustrating it can be! And like Physio said, if you received "status unchanged" stay positive!! Its not a rejection and Mizzou is known for a decent percentage of people interviewing getting accepted.

Nothing here either. Considering everything is closed tomorrow, I wonder if we have to wait until next week.

I'm beginning to wonder. I may give the OME a call and see if they anticipate getting them all out today. Once I found out they were going out today, the only thing I've been able to do successful is sit at my computer, staring and drooling, waiting for the email.

I just called the OME once again (I'm sure they hate the sound of my voice!) and they said that the lady that sends the emails has left the office until next Monday.

The lady on the phone said there is a chance that the emails are still queued to be sent out, but she doesn't know. Thus, it's a real possibility that we won't know anything until next week. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but here's to hoping there is good news in queue for us who haven't gotten our emails!

Or at least that there is good news in store for Monday!:luck:

I got the same e-mail. From what I understand, it means you aren't rejected, but that we weren't at the very top of the pool to be the 2 or 3 poeple accepted this time around.

what an amazing place, extremely relaxed and conversational interviews

I just got an interview here for Jan. 11th, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to find out who one's interviewers are?

Just a thought to all of you MU students, it probably isn't wise to use your pawprint as a sign-on for this site. If I can find you, someone else can and their intent may not be benign.

😀 Wow, just got an interview invite here today for 1/20. Was pretty shocked to see it in my inbox this late in the game. Couple questions for those paying attention: Am I interviewing for the wait list at this point? Anyone have any opinions on how much they like this school and why?

OOS (contigious), Complete around 10/10.
